Florida State hires Fisher to replace Jeff Bowden

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Less than 48 hours after ending negotiations with Louisiana State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher, Florida State coach Bobby Bowden changed his mind Monday and, apparently, Fisher's too.

Bowden named Fisher, 41, as his offensive coordinator at Florida State, which had suffered decreasing production on offense in recent years under the directions of Bowden's youngest son, Jeff Bowden.

Jimbo and Les Miles didn't get along at all. You can see the difference in the play calling when Les called games and when Jimbo can them. Miles was extremely conservative while Jimbo usually blew people out.

At 41, he is setting himself up for a HC job very soon.....La Tech wanted him, but wasn't the job for him. He turns the FSU offense around, he can write his own ticket with him.

Jimbo is going to Florida St. because Bowden will be stepping down in two years. Fisher will produce at Florida St. and will be a good fit for the HC position in Tallytown.

If Les Miles would have given total control of the offense to Jimbo this past season, LSU would not have lost to Auburn or Florida.

I will be honest. I would have thought Fisher would have had a HC coaching position by now.

You dont think some of Bobby former coaches will come back home for this job?

I am sure some will want the job........but lets look at the more successful FSU old coaches.

Mack Brown is at Texas..... so he isn't leaving
Mark Richt is at Georgia..........I don't know if he would leave UGA
Chuck Amato........needs a job. Got unjustly fired at NC State.....
Mickey Andrews.....currently on staff...but he may be ready to retire as well.
Bowden family tree........Jeff just lost his chance. Terry may be interested, but he has been out of coaching so long and I don't know if Tommy will leave Clemson to come coach at FSU. He has a hard enough time as it is.

So Jimbo Fisher is setting himself up real well. Especially if he gets FSU offense rolling again. If FSU does not hire him when Bobby steps down.........Fisher will have set himself up again for some other job. I am shocked Louisville has not called him after Petrino took the Falcons job.

Hey maybe SU's Mark Orlando who is a FSU alum will apply. LOL....just joking.

George Hanshaw might take over at Florida State.. Hanshaw is currently assistant with the saints and was Bowden's offensive coordinator back in mid -80's...

Name aint big enough for Florida State pedigree. He has too many other FSU coaches that have bigger names.

Plus if he is on the Saints staff and they keep winning.......he may have a better shot at a NFL job than going to FSU. I think Fisher has set himself up well.

If Wayne McDuffle never killed himself back in 1996. he would probably be number one successor to bobby bowden.. He was the one that brought no-huddle offense to FSU back in late 80's.. Now, Henshaw has plenty of connections down in Tallahassee, FL, unlike Jimbo Fisher and Chuck amato.. Keep sharp on current Middle Tennessee State Head Football Coach RICk stockdalll.. he played for bowden and alummuns of Florida State.. don't forget about skip holtz... because he worked for Bowden back in late 80's as graduate assistant..

I don't know about Florida but as far as Auburn goes if they had thrown the ball deep to Early Doucet at least 4 times two would have gone for scores. Auburn could not cover him. They must have run that flanker screen 20 times to the reciever that wears the jersey # in the 80's and it picked up yards everytime.
