This game really showed us what we need to work on. We had about 500 yards on offense, but our OC went "Derrick McCall" on us about twice in the red zone. Especially on the 1 yard line. TWICE!!!!

That was a GREAT game. Really shouldn't have been that close but FAMU took advantage and kept the game close.

The guys seemed more disciplined and Ivy was on target most of the night. Our running game was better than I expected.
Playcalling on the goal line need to be looked at. We have a good enough running game to not have to rely on passing inside the 10 yard line for a TD.

I'm pissed!!!!!!! I want them jokas fired if they keep sorry teams like that in the game with that red zone play calling.

But seriously, I liked what I saw from the offense and defense. I even liked the Special Teams even though they have to learn to get off their blocks early. But we will be all right. 1st game of the year with new coaches, new schemes, new players in some positions. We'll ready for SWAC play. Get Ready!!!!!

I wasn't expected JSU to run the ball like that...I was expecting JSU to air it out and abandon the running game. Holmes adjusted in the 2nd half defensively when we finally started getting some penetration and getting into the backfield. It's almost like our defense sat back waiting for JSU to come at u in the 1st half rather than attacking the offense. That's not to take credit away from Sims though. That kid ran hard.

We also broke in some new players in the secondary and have a starter serving a 4 game suspension and you could see the inexperience early, but they settled down. It gives me some hope for the rest of the season...especially if we can focus on stopping the run.

Re: Gotta give JSU credit

Not at all...I'll be back to talking trash soon enough...especially before JSU visits Tallahassee next season lol...but tonight, JSU deserves major props

But I saw positives out of my team tonight...Damien Fleming looked like the QB we expected him to be last season...he made smart throws...extended plays with his feet...and was in control of his offense. Our running game showed some life tonight. We couldn't run the ball at all last season. Our defense did what they always do...crack down in the red zone(if you watch FAMU games, that's how they have always played, bend but don't break).

We may not go 10-2 or 9-3...but we aren't going 3-9 again this season.

Fleming was better than ive seen on film, but a lot of that had to do with how we were rushing him. He didnt do much damage with his arm, but we kept crashing the pocket letting him outside. My man RonFuller the DE is new to this so I hope the correct his errors. Taht bullshit iside the 5 was pissing me off. We have several FBs...put them big Fers in the game and go straight ahead. He kept snapping the ball in the shotgun and running sideways with players shooting the gap. That was some bull.

That game shouldve never been close, but the young coaching staff almost cost us the game.

I hope FAMU goes on to have a pretty good season since yall gave us hell. That #17 is legit....nice freshman RB too.

Ivy missed some reads, made some bad decisions and there were some drops, too down there. It wasn't all on the OC.

The one dropped TD really hurt in the 1st. That gave FAM momentum
I blame most of what went wrong today on the OC
Eventhough we had 500 yards offense on a decent defense, we gotta get in the endzone.
That was all on the OC, not Ivy
Throwing the ball sideways from the 5 yardline was some straight bullshit.
Fried Rice is goig to have a problem from me if he doesnt put Stephen Capler in the game

Naw, Ivy's homeboy Williams dropped some good passes. One was a TD in the end zone. I was expecting 007 to break out the (jugs) machine after the game and make the WRs go throughout catching drills. LOL!!!!!!! We will correct those drops though. The passing machine will help that.

Yeah, Ching Chong is gonna have to come up with a redzone playbook. I think he will since this was his first time "ever" calling offensive plays in a real game. I think he'll figure it out or he's gonna catch hell from those old folks that I was sitting beside.

I didn't expect the defending East champs to struggle with MEAC team that lost 9 games last season, however, the new staff/new system jitters bug bits many times. JSU will have one more game to work out the wrinkles before they face a quality FCS program in Tenn St.

If you'd bothered to look at the stats, you would've seen that JSU dominated in every area and phase of the game.

He has to make better decisions down there. Can't throw picks in the red zone. Darn near threw two down there tonight.

He'll get better Kenny. Give the young man time. He has a practice game coming up next week. Let's see what the new coaches works on this week before we throw the guy under the bus.

I'm not throwing Ivy under the bus. The kid has talent. Played well tonight. You'd expect some inconsistency but he's gotta be better in plus territory. Left a lot of points out there. The WR gotta help him as well.

Yeah, he was pretty upset with his homeboy when he dropped that TD pass. But the OC needed to call some running plays (in which he did) and some play action passes down there (which he didn't). A play action pass to the TE would have put the ball into the end zone. I really think that they were treating this game as a (I hate to use this word cause the Comegy regime always used it), preseason game to see what they needed to work on for conference play.

He just needs some work
He is starring his WRs down, throwing it late (the int), and sometimes throwing it too hard (sound like a grambling player)
There were 2 dropped TDs though
Lets see if he can get a half of work next week, and then the real season starts

To be honest, FAMU we weren't a "bad" 9 loss team last season. We were a team that lost a lot of games late. Games like Delaware State where we jump out to a 21-3 lead and then lose 29-21...or the NCA&T where we missed a game winning extra point and lost in overtime...or the SCSU game in which the difference was the Bulldogs blocking a punt and returning it for a TD...we play teams tough, but haven't learned how to finish games. Tonight I thought we had finally turned the corner.

As for JSU, Ivy is gonna get better and I think Timmy Chang's offense really suits his skill set well. JSU can beat TSU

That bold part is blasphemy! Cause our HC is old and the series lead favors TnSt by 1 or 2 games.

Come on Son. GTFOHWTBS

Don't think because your sorry, poorly coached team lost to a sorry poorly coached team, that they got a chance. It's going to get ugly in 1 town.

Then we go beat you like a homecoming opponent should be beat.
