Fifty years and 20-hour bus rides since Southern University and Athens shared an exchange

It happens to this day except its masked differently

you have several good black coaches on these staffs in the SEC making more money than ever made but no one will even consider them to be a head coach and they make too much money to even think about coming down......Their job is to recruit black kids and do the dirty work so they can get to campus

And this diversity think is real because a lot of educated blacks live in these Suburbs and their not hanging with a all black crew like I may have in the 90s

The threat is these kids Of hbcu grads growing up in a diverse environment and not understanding what our schools mean so they will go to a Texas State type of school because it is safe socially....

And the crazy part is, those kids still have a pool of friends from our schools that they admire from afar

Institutions that are majority White are often looked upon at diverse or integrated. Institutions that are majority or historically Black are often looked upon at non-diverse or sometimes even segregated. I too will bet that recruiters sell kids on these if the conversation of HBCUs even arises. The former Dillard University president Dr. Samuel DuBois Cook, a pupil of Dr.Benjamin Elijah Mays at Morehouse, said in an interview that his school was not a segregated institution. He was correct.

I doubt very seriously that a lot of the suburban high schools have anything on HBCUs. There maybe some teachers who will have HBCU tours, but I will bet that is probably it. When my cousins were at Fort Valley, many of the students came from small middle and South Georgia small towns. There was a sizable group of students from Atlanta. I wonder how the numbers breakdown there now.

I am sure diversity is mentioned by recruiters at Georgia State, near where Martin Luther King, Jr. was born and is buried and the Auburn Avenue business district. It was where Hamilton Holmes and Charlene Hunter were considering going to school and integrating before they decided to head to the University of Georgia. Georgia State now has more Black students than Whites. BTW Georgia State was very bad in the FCS and is struggling in the Sun Belt of the FBS.

Valdosta State and Winston Salem State played in the D-II national title game in 2012 and in a recent regular season game at McEachern High School in Cobb County. I remember when McEachern would win their region and consistently get their heads handed to them in the state playoffs. Things have changed.
