How do anybody embezzle that much money for so long and nobody notices??? I guess where there is a will, there is a way. SMH.

He was over finances for the entire fraternity. If you are the person they come to for all the finance information then you have the power....UNTIL you get a calls from the bank noting suspicious activity.

I understand what you are saying. But I guess what I am trying to say is why wasn't a check and balance system put in place, so something like this could not happen without someone knowing about it.

There are checks and balances in a lot of these organizations via their by-laws, but somehow majority of the members get so involved in non-essential stuff (looking pretty and stepping) that one person ends up running the entire organization. I can tell you a story of a chapter I was in in Lynchburg, VA where the finance person was directly receiving funds and disbursing them without anyone else checking behind him. He had convinced the chapter members that his position allowed him to receive all funds, which was a direct violation of the fraternity's by-laws. And when I challenged him on it, he called the International HQ to try to get them to write a letter stating that it was okay for him to continue doing what he was doing, which was receive and disburse chapter funds. Luckily, the person he talked to at the HQ knew what was in the by-laws. Things like this is quite common amongst the Divine Nine, which is a reflection on a lot of our so-called Black leaders.

Easy take a dollar here or there.

Ask for money to buy XYZ at this price that you show to everybody and get XYZ cheaper elsewhere and pocket the rest.
