This is the perfect time for Grambling and SU to revamp things and make sure they get more money. New Orleans needs to lower hotel costs, tickets might needs to be lowered until the attendance get back up to where it used to be. Grambling and SU needs to put their minds together.

I have a question for SU and GSU fans and alums. If and only if your presidents decided to moved the BC to another date in Nov, how many of you would not attend the game? Just curious and no SMACK!

This.

It happens. FedEx dropped its Orange bowl sponsorship recently also and now it is the Discover Orange Bowl.

Same thing with the Sugar Bowl, it used to be the Nokia Sugar Bowl, now it is the All-State Sugar Bowl. Same thing for a lot of those bowl games.

Good question.
I think a lot of folks on this board don't attend now. LOL. Seriously the TSPN contingent probably will do things as usual. But we are not the majority of our fan base so what we might do will not affect what others that attend the game just because they are already planning to be in La for the holidays. If it is a week earlier some folks will probably not make it because it has become something they do yearly as far as vacation timing. They will not be able to take off that kind of time and stay through the following week of holidays. Some it will have no affect at all and they will come regardless especially if SU and Gram are both winning at the same time.

This is for the board and not JSU2000.
But before we beat this horse again on the BC moving. I need folks to understand that the SWAC has to rid itself of the SCG first before any playoff talk starts. The BC and TDC is not the reason no one from the SWAC can go to the playoffs. It is the SCG. So even if we move our game. The rest of the Presidents will have to kill the SCG. Just making these statements before this thread turns into the usual rhetoric.

SCG has to go first then the BC and TDC for an auto bid from the FCS folks. With the SCG being the domino that needs to drop first and foremost before even talking to Southern, Grambling or Alabama State.

I don't think they would even try that lol. They would catch a backlash lol but if a date had to be chosen i would say Labor Day Weekend.

I'm not opposed to a date change.

You don't want to play that game on Labor Day weekend. Too much at stake. Besides, you two are rivals... keep it as the last game of the season. That is how rivals do!

Why do folks expect the city to ower hotel costs (private businesses), especially for a special event? The prices for Bayou Classic are generally lower than the prices for Essence Fest, Sugar Bowl, and Mardi Gras.

Regardless of all of these changes, there is no good reason to enter the playoffs. Our biggest sin is the 9 game mandate. We need a 7 game format with strict scheduling guidelines!

it's about leads once you sponsor....I think alot of sponsors in the past spent cash based on high-ranking alums asking them to commit to their schools...they did in good faith but at the end of the day, you got to justify spending all that cash if you're not getting a return on your investment as our high ranking alums are retiring

That's why I would not be shocked to see my former employer enter the fray. They already buy commercial slots and have lent their name as additional sponsors just not as the title one. Still a couple of SU alums in the executive office there. One retired and one moved up to a higher VP level role. But the retired one still have major influence there.

Somebody else will jump in the mix. State Farm got other issues going on. They are revamping across the board.

JROCK is vehemently opposed to changing the date of the Crown Jewel of Black College Football. The same folks that would make these type of asinine request are those that have no clout at their schools. Further they don't share the same vision as their presidents. What buffoon would throw away a healthy pay day and national television appearance to travel to the boondocks and appease a crop of hillbillies under the guise of competing with best? GTFOOH! :emlaugh:

Exactly..We need to go from a 9 game formate to a 7 game formate...

agreed. as much as I want to see up beat up on some teams in the playoffs. if alcorn got an invitation I'd strongly consider declining. it makes absolutely no financial sense. i would rather have the 7 game format with no ooc games against conference teams. that gives us 4 games to schedule and beat the sam houston, and ga southerns of the world. if we beat them during the regular season but make it clear were not in the playoffs because losing money playing football games is not the way we do things, something will change. they'll have to change the bidding system and how they split revenue with the ncaa or know that their playoff system is illegit. but that doesn't happen until we play and beat them, meaning the 9 game mandatate has got to go and then AD's can't run and hide.
