FCS Attendance Week Ending 12/08/12

No, the point being every team has a down game. Now I will be the first to admit, only the old people in Huntsville are satisfied with Jones. Jones could be a great coach if he ever got a real OC. Our problem in Huntsville is folks in the clique only want what they want.

It's not just a down game though lol.... it's just the fact that they're as competitive as you are. It's not a coincidence that they're able to beat Bama State nearly every year and it's not a coincidence yall beat them by 1 point either. It wouldn't benefit you to do it but if you dont think its a coincidence start putting some of those UNA's, Valdosta State's and WSSU's on your schedule and you'll see what I mean. My point is regardless of the fact that they have different recruiting rules the good teams in FCS don't have issues beating them. It's about being good lol..basically.

Keeping it real, the difference is they don't draw the big numbers for "classics" because they don't care about bands, halftime shows, etc. They go to the game to see the game and support the team. FAMU this year was a prime example of what happens when one of those pieces aside from the actual game itself isn't a part of the puzzle. Their largest classic attendance cut in half. And not counting those classics, HBCU's haven't even been dominating the top attendance anymore. Look at the top 10 average attendance at the end of the season for the past 5 years. I'm not even sure it's so much a product as a novelty. And I always thought the whole point of football was to win a championship but that's just me.

You have 2-3 schools at that 1-A level who dominate in attendance. The rest draw 3000 like TxSouthern.
..and yes, BCF is a product. That is a part of my point. BCF Homecomings are events. I would drive to A&Ts Homecoming but you couldn't pay me to go to University of Delaware's Homecoming.
..as for whole point of football being to win a championship. Yes, that is true but you can't discount every championship. If you win the 1-AA playoffs, you still don't get the respect of wining the C-USA title. If you win the Big EAST, it's not as big as the SEC title. So everything is relative. SWAC titles are not easy to win. Aside from SU.. every SWAC school has either 0 or 1 SWAC title in the last 7-10 years. To our players at JSU who didn't win on Saturday, I bet it hurt and they were not sitting around saying, "well, if we won, it still wouldn't mean nothing cause we didn't go to the playoffs". I don't think one singe UAPB player, coarh or fan would trade Saturday for a playoff game. The problem with most of us is that we are borderline crazy. if you don't win the national championship, you season is worthless. I disagree. I would be happy with JSU being a top 25 team year in and year out. I would be happy with consistent 9-10 win seasons. There are many more measurables than a national championship that only one team can win. We have to be proud of the SWAC. If we are not, we need to drop athletics.

Also, as far as the playoffs go. We can send a team but we are simply not good enough. Last year, had JSU been eligible, I would have loved for us to get a look for the playoffs with a 9-2 record. We just have to continue to improve our product to get to that level. I think the 9-game mandate holds us back far more than not having an automatic playoff bid.

No the difference is white kids don't wanna go to school with black kids. HBCU's will never get the real good multi color lineman. Also schools like UNA have corporate leaders like VP's of Defense contractors in Huntsville giving them millions of dollars. We don't have that. If we are gonna tell the story tell the whole story.

SWAC's performance 2012 OOC: horrific. Horrible. Atrocious. Turrrrible (thx CBarkley). Horrendous. Unbeweavable (thx bald-headed SEAC dancers).

#excusesMOREexcusesFORnonperformanceOOC

Pantha, JSU ain't scared of D2s. That's for schools like PV. If we can beat Delta State, we can beat Tuskegee. We are 5-2 vs AlaState under Comegy. They aint' us. But the facts are the facts. I have said several times that if Valley is only going to offer 40 scholarships, they need to be D2. I would be more afraid of Valley as a D2 team than I am of them as a 1-AA team. I would welcome Winston Salem to bring their azz to Jackson next year.

It says schools like PV need to improve and try to be like J-State.

We're identical. JSU 0-2 OOC; PVU 0-2 OOC. Seems like we need to be like SU and at least split at 1-1. SU was the only SEAC school to beat a d-1 OOC fall 2012.

But one of your OOC losses was a 31-0 skulldragging to LAMAR. :goof:
A school that just started playing football again in 2010 after dropping it in 1989.

JSU 2012 OOC losses came by way of FCS Tenn St. who we beat 2 years in a row and the other loss was to Miss State. JSU went 2-0 in OOC games in 2010 and 2011.

Not exactly identical.

They would mop the floor with yall AZZ

Right................
You thinking about what they would do to Gram right now.

All they have to do is call JSU and sign for labor day in Memorial. They having a good year but Ain't nobody scared of Winsten-Salem. They would get their azz beat just like Delta State. We ain't comming off a BELL/rebuilding era now like we was when Delta State caught us the first time in 2007.

Ok I what I get from This is
1. We will never be able to compete in FCS, so it better to talk about beat D2 schools
2. D2 schools beat us because of recruiting adavantages, but yet Sam Houston, GA Southern, South Dakota State would mop any D2, so the recruiting disadvantage only effects the SWAC, it dont even Effect the MEAC
3. Being the Nation Champion is a waste of Time
4. we are superior to Delta State because we beat them Once, but they have 3 or 4 wins in the SWAC..
5. Close games with D2 schools doesnt matter, but the sorriest team in FBS would easily beat a SWAC school by 21 no questions asked, with a 0 chance of losing
6. No one cares about the Playoffs, most of America would rather turn the station to ESPNU then watch the game on ESPN
7. The playoffs Pimps schools, but yet cant no one tell you whats the payout for The SWAC championship game..

Yall done lost yall mind... "If You scared, go to church"... Yea Lets play more Richond, Delware, Central Arkansas, etc in the season but lets also play them when it counts...

Anthony Carruthors will be the QB next year for WSSU, he already done beat yall great white hope... Dude they would beat JSU by 14... They might beat us by got dang 21 points...

But here we go again talking about competeing at the DII level... why cant we talk ablut the FCS level..
Why want someone make the Statement about Sam houston... I wish they would bring they buts up to Jackson!!! lol
Bama State got Sam Houston in they New Staduim next year... lets see what Happens..
Im tired of talking about competing in D2, lets compete in FCS

Yea but WSSU got the same problems we have with recruiting white kids, but they sitting in the national Championship on Saturday...

Now you see why I gave up on talking about Playoffs or playing other FCS teams.
All people want to do is make excuses and stand pat on mediocre football.

And?
Will Anthony Carruthors be playing on the O-Line, D-line, RB, CB, LB, etc. Delta State had a good QB and RB but that didn't amount to crap when all our D-linemen, LB's and corner blitzs started crashing in on their azzes.

2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, Winston Salem tried to jump up in class and played a Complete MEAC schedule and got their azzes handed to them in shreds every week. They dropped back down and now they a king of D2 again.

I don't even know why I bother responding to you anymore. How many white kids did FAMU have on their roster the years they won games in the playoffs?

Um, for the record the top 8 schools in attendance are PWC's. Kinda kills the rest of your argument.

http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2012/Internet/attendance/FCS_AVGATTENDANCE.pdf

Out of the top 25 in average attendance 8 are HBCU's so, that means 17 are PWC's.

And I swear to goodness JSU posters have to be some of if not the most delusional sports fans i've ever seen in my life.:emlaugh: I just look over TP by default but the rest are pretty hilarious.

Seriously dude you gotta be kidding right? Even black folks don't wanna go to HBCUs. Reality is the truth. This is not a racial point of view but the truth. Yes we will get a couple of white kids, but how can you get white kids who are good when the black ones don't wanna attend? Answer that for then?

Those are very good points that a lot of people overlook these days. Other than certain skill positions (mainly WR) no 4-5 star athlete even has an HBCU on their radar.... until they mess up at the big school they spurned the HBCU point. I think everyone knows this. Same for the non-athlete,.

And you think 4-5 star athletes have any FCS or mid-major Division 1 school on their radar? If Boise State and Butler and VCU ain't getting them, why are we surprised when HBCUs aren't considered?
