Jackson State 32, Delta State 17....I wouldn't quite classify that as whoop, not to mention the game was in Jackson & it was the first game of the season. Perhaps if you watched DII football alongside with FCS as much you would have seen the massive improvement thats DSU made throughout the season.
You can never use this as leverage but...
Jackson State beat Delta State, who in turn beat Valdosta State, who beat Albany State who beat Tuskegee who beat Alabama State who beat Jackson State. I'm sure had they played later in the season the results might have been quite different.
Now to talk about this season, again if you watch football you would know that schools like WSSU, Tuskegee, Albany State could compete with the best FCS school and beat them. WSSU has more speed than ANY other HBCU and their defense is incredible. The FCS/DII association means nothing when you just look at the product on the field.
As far as the whole 1-10 crap. 1. WSSU lost 8 of their games that season by a touchdown or less, and they had a completely different coaching staff. Which clearly by those results you need one, because Blount seemed to never make adjustments to his playing style, kind of just would hope that his style would eventually win.
Maynor comes along goes 8-2 his first year, doesn't make the playoffs and comes back with two stellar years. WSSU currently puts out the strongest 2 squads on the field currently in HBCU's. 5 weeks ago I would not have debated this as I felt Bethune and Tennessee State were stronger, but after their performances against top ranked DII schools in the nation....with the top defense and top offense in the nation...and then dismantling a school with nearly 20 DI transfers?
WSSU would defeat any FCS HBCU...but we'll never know that.
