FAMU to the SWAC?

That's what I was thinking. Do like how the SEC used to do when they had divisions. You play a home-and-home series with your division opponents(10 games) then play the 6 schools in the opposite division 1 time (3 at home and 3 on the road). That would give you 16 conference games, and only 3 games would be games the team has to travel a lengthy distance.
 
Tenn State is not leaving the OVC,
Go.after FAMU,, BCU will follow suit...soon after,
THE only bad thing is the Bowl. If FAMU AND BCU joins, that leaves SCSTATE,NCAT, HOWARD, those the big names that would draw respectful against the SWAC..

And FAMU needs to stay their asses in the MEAC. Stay there and rot.
 
This would not be good for JSU but it would be good for the conference. I would prefer FAMU and TNState but I would accept BCU if TNState didn't accept the offer. I believe TnState would come but I think the first step is to get FAMU in. We would just have to alternate Alcorn every year from east to west OR we would rotate one of the MS schools every year.. (ie Alcorn in West in 2017, JSU in 2018, Valley in 2019, Alcorn 2020) until we get a 12th member.

It would be bad for JSU if we invite two more schools to the EAST because we would lose Alcorn, SU and Grambling BUT we would pick up FAMU and adding TNState as a divisional game would open up another OOC game for JSU.

If we have 12 teams, it would make sense to go to an 8 (5+3) game mandate.

BCU is cool but you want to go with the big names in BCF. To have JSU, Grambling, FAMU, TNState and SU all in one conference is a dream come true... especially when you add up and down teams like BAMA State and Alcorn into the mix.

If they were still viable, I could see MoB but Savannah? I would ask Morehouse first.

Scratch that thought, I just realized how far East Savannah is. You're right go with TNSU first, then look at the D-2 HBCUs.

It'd be cool if FAMU joined the SWAC for obvious reasons. They gone hurt the MEAC bad but they'd fit in better over here anyway.

Well of course if TN State became the 12th school you would then opt to stay in the east and choose SU as your permanent cross-division rival. You would get to play FAMU, TNSU, Alcorn, and SU every year in that situation. I think any other school not named TNSU as the 12th school would probably push y'all to move to the West and have Alcorn as your cross-division rival. You would get to play SU, GSU, and Alcorn every season.

The SWAC is a football league FIRST. If we bring in a school, it needs to be one that cares about football. FAMU has the Marching 100 and good football legacy. Savannah? At least Morehouse has name recognition and the city of Atlanta.

I would invite:

1. FAMU
2. TNState
3. BCU
4. Morehouse

In THAT order.

If SSU were to get consideration you might as well consider BCU. BCU would be the better choice because of location (Orlando metro area/Central FL). Both would be lengthy trips for whenever they would play the TX teams.

Even though it appears that any D2 HBCUs couldn't move up now anytime soon, they would be a better choice than those two IF TSU don't come aboard (how much longer can they continue to take Ls against non-HBCU teams at home because fans have NO interest)
 
Savannah State ???? Hell no. We dnt want to just add anybody. BC would really hit the fans hard as far as travel goes. I can deal with Tallahassee but Daytona would require a lil more cash flow on top of the season itself. Someone said TnSU not coming to Swac but my aunt and Dr. Glover are close friends and her and Dr. Glover always talk trash about JSU and TnSU athletics and Glover did mention being apart of the Swac under her presidency so it is still possible. It would really be nice if the top hbcu's could form a power conference. And one of the requirements would be a strong financial commitment toward the institutions athletic department to maintain the new conference in an elite category. But the swac despite all whom downed the conference are making huge moves. Etc... Swac championship in Houston at a professional venue, Swac/meac bowl game on abc, new 7 game mandate that will allow conference members to schedule more ooc games with the possibility of gaining more national exposure and etc. there are a lot of positive things going on within the conference. Soon schools want have to leave to be apart of fbs the conference will be eligible but each school would have to wrk to get there own weight up if the swac continues to make good financial moves. Honestly the swac is doing a lot better than a lot of small fbs conferences, the only difference that help other fbs small conferences out are there disbursement of money from TV deals to each school. If we ever got hose TV deals we would be a force to reacon with.

And their larger student bodies that allow them to receive a lot more in student fees to use for athletics.
 
But I do.agree before any invite is giving to FAMU, they need to fix all APR PROBLEMS.. IT WOULD BE CRAZY TO BRING IN.ANY.SCHOOL, ESPECIALLY FAMU WHEN BASICALLY THE WHOLE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IS ON POST SEASON BAN..

No more BAMAs.... lol Morehouse does not have the history of Tuskegee but they have the name recognition and the ATL market. But I sorta agree with you about putting BCU 4th. I would just replace TU with Morehouse.
