FAMU Club game experience

well - why are our P4 white counterparts more diehard than us? that's the issue - they'll stop everything not to miss a game - but the same black person in the same region doesn't the passion all year around

our fellow FCS white counterparts don't care about sports for the most part for whatever reason -

also I think our schools are putting too much into Homecomings/classic games and what goes around it and our demographic only pays attention to that and their fine with it

Its good that you compare us to P4 because that is closer to our brands. However, the difference is clear. They have a larger pool to pull from and they have the atmosphere and amenities that we dont. It's also supply and demand and its just a cool place to be on Saturdays. Now, if you want to compare us to our TRUE counterparts (G5 for schools like JSU, FCS for teams like SU, FAMU, SCState and D2 for schools like Alcorn, BCU, Del State, AAMU) then we are on par or over-achieving.

Simple. They outpace us from a population perspective, and they have thousands of hangers-oners. Folks who are associated with the teams but not to the university. Black folks hate day games it's just a fact. Its brutal sitting out there and you want to limit water being brought in etc. A prime example for me is Disney. They let you bring all the water you want because they know you're going to still buy a crap ton onsite when it's hot. We try to drive sales but deter people who would come if they could create some comfort from 96 degree weather with heat indexes well over 100. Those lower FCS schools struggle with attendance because the average fan would rather go to the large PWI game for association or proximity to the big school and all that that brings vs the local University that wins occasionally.

Exactly. People get upset when I ask why should be make FCS playoffs our first choice when the majority population makes it their 3rd.
...and the Black BAMA disease is spreading across the nation.

we should have enough blacks to fill a stadium consistently BUT unfortunately, as the first baby boomer generation has improved living wise the exposure to other things for the next generation got in the way

the same family who grew up in a middle class area next to the campus, the kids moved to the burbs and now interact with "diverse" people and those thoughts are being filtered daily, so on and so on - so they have no problem going to a random PWC and just being a regular student with no interaction as alot of black HBCU families kinda let them chart their own paths

but our white counterparts - if their kdis can't fulfill the legacy - they'll go to another regional PWC but they'll still bleed P4 for whatever reason - we don't have that

The same diehard blue collar Southern U crowd is not the same now - you have way more LSU fans now that are black for whatever reason

This. My wife , a Jacksonian and a good chunk of her family and mine attended thee. But I had to let the kids decide for themselves.. SMH And they don't have the love for Thee even though they grew up around it...

We have a similar set up for the beginning of the 4th quarter of night games.

Hella' but I say gotttttt dayam nah!!!! I HOPE AD Goff isn't considering any of this. We have too many cotton, corn, and soybean fields close by we will set some shit on uncontrollable fire on The Hill.

This was literally across the road from campus on kinfolk 'nem property. I can laugh about it now lol.

Got lights but the strength coach is asking for donations to feed the kids.
We do that every year with the 220 qb club, also other nutritional products.

it’s amazing what motivates these children and some old folks today. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t new but what is is the free options that are available via streaming. My pastor speaking about church attendance said, “the couch at home has replaced the church pews”. Young folk would rather relax, control their environment and use their phones. We have to give them a reason to want to be involved and give up some space.
My wife, my college sweetheart, never paid attention to the game but her choice was either going to the game or staying in the dorm and wait to hang with me or her friends. No cable tv, iPhones or streaming video. Today though, she still would rather stay at the hotel on homecoming and come out after the game to visit vendors spending money.😊

LOL…TP calls it the Bama effect.

My theory is correct, your life revolves around JSU football and when the curtain drops you will be lost. Imagine JSU with less than championship season, what will you do to keep fans attending? Yes, we are not playing well and have lost 2 games, we still got 15,000 people to attend a game with Albany State. I watched the game on SWAC TV and I am thankful that we had entertaining things for the students and other fans. This also will help with recruiting. “Wake up”, we are in this together…

JSU freshman acceptance rate is 91%. Yikes!!!
Good. We should get it to 100. I dont see anything to brag about when it comes to not educating OUR kids. HBCUs should never stray from our original mission. I dont mind sharing the story because he shares it himself. DeMarco Morgan finished HS with a 1 point something GPA. The only school to accept him was THEE. He is now a millionaire and host of GMA3. Thank God for the 91%.

Just saw a story from local Jackson station discussing drop in JSU football game attendance over the last 3 years. Folks we need to start putting our heads together and share best practices for game attendance .

it's hard with this generation unfortunately - the children of the middle class folks from the blue collar towns in the south who kept the thing going in the 80s, 90s have moved awayas a whole and the young alums don't settle in those cities either - people now treat our games as special occasions (Homecoming / Rivals) - I've seen all types of issues on Jackson as to why but will need to hear from the school before wondering

It's easy for us! JSU fans DO NOT WANT DAY GAMES! Every year we complain about day games, especially in September and our AD still schedules day games. For the Tuskegee, there was a heat warning for dangerous temperatures. Our fans are NOT going. We had people passing out during the GSU game when Deion was the HC and we have been asking our AD to stop the foolishness ever since.

We also had to fix counting errors. It was fixed for the 2nd game. Thats a long story.

Right now, we are at #9 in the nation and we still have Homecoming, BCU and Alcorn games left.
