THE Logical ONE
Tons GSU alumni in the state of TX.
Most JSU alums seem to go to Memphis or ATL (...or they just stay in Jack-town) but we have a good contingent in both Houston and Dallas.

I am still waiting to see what the ACTUAL deal is between the Houston Sports Authority and the SWAC. JR wants to see the financials. LOL.
SU, GSU, PV and TxSo should be good for 20-25K fans in Houston. UAPB is father but I think they would represent too. It's gonna be hard on the BAMA's and JSU tho. Valley and Alcorn not going anyway so they are non-factors.

....The MCC changes Birmingham its not on that level any other weekend or event.......
I'm talkin about teams that have a realistic chance of going this year. In TPs opinion, we are looking at:
1. Jackson State vs UAPB
2. Jackson State vs Prairie View
3. AlaState vs UAPB
4. Alabama State vs Prairie View
I wish ALL teams the best but of those choices, JSU-PV has the best potential and appeal for that area.
That's close enough for them to ride out to Houston tho. I'm sure they got cousins in Houston.. LOL
you're double talking. You say I'm being negative by discounting the "young party crowd", then you go on to discount that crowd yourself. I agree that we are not surviving off the young party crowd. I only responded to that because I keep seeing how if the game is in "a party city" folks would come. Sorry, but I'm not convinced of that.MH, stop being so negative dude. Houston is a party city much like Atlanta so the young adults will be ready. Also, HBCU games are not surviving off of young party crowd dollars.

I think folks are trying to make the SCG out for something that it really isn't. It isn't some catch all event that will have everybody at every SWAC school excited. If ASU and TxSou are playing in the SCG in Houston, I won't fool myself that the students/alums of every other SWAC school would be hauling arse to get to Houston.
   The SWAC game will get swallowed up in a big city like Houston! Now not to say it cant turn into a CIAA event type but that would require alot of Marketing and Promotion by the SWAC which hasnt been done before so I have no faith in the now! We will see tho...Jackson is the most logical choice in terms of location and city size but Jackson the city is far behind from that happening!
There you go. That will draw folks. I just wonder if they will do it just once, as they did in Bham.I'm hearing to make the package more attractive is that all school's bands are coming to Houston for the weekend.

5 schools are two hours from Jackson. SU, GSU, MVSU, Alcorn, and JSU. That will bring a crowd right there.Im sorry bruh the SWAC Championship game had ALOT of Marketing and promotion.... I saw commercials and promos regularly throughout the season.
now as far as cities... Jackson is a BORING city.... zero downtown life, horrible shopping, efm not one of the "entertainment gurus" but for those who are always talking about nothin to do.... they have to scratch Jackson off the list. Its more to do in Tuscaloosa than Jackson.
It will not be hard on JSU TP. LOL. Jackson is not that bad of a drive at all. Jackson to BR is 2.5 -3 hours at the most and Houston is another 3.5 West straight down I-10
Southwest is a cheap one hour flight each way from Jackson to Houston. For JSU alums in Dallas they have a 4 hour drive. Cheap flights for the JSU alums in ATL to Houston as well. So it will not be hard for JSU folks. LOL.
Driving to Houston for Jackson people is really no different than driving to Atlanta. No big deal. Don't get a twisted view about people in Jackson not driving to the SCG in Houston just because we don't drive to Houston when we play Texas Southern.
People will roll out in droves if JSU is in the SCG in Houston. Playing Texas Southern in Houston ain't gonna get people around here worked up and it never has.
I disagree. Legion Field may not have plush amenities, but I personally don't go to games for plush amenities. Legion Field's parking/tailgating can't be beat.

Yep. I agree Frat. That was TP saying it will be hard on JSU folks to get to Houston. That's why I posted my comments. Folks from Jackson go to Houston all the time. A lot of folks got people in Houston. Will be no issue for JSU folks. They will be there for the SCG. Man, if it is SU vs JSU this first go around. That atmosphere in Houston will be off the meters.
That is the funniest thing on this threadMan.....................
Ain't no defense in this since B-Ham was giving them free rent and then stacking money on top of that. I'm sure the Southland and Big 12 don't get free office spaces in Dallas and that is the difference. They paying for their offices and services. . The SWAC was getting B-Ham welfare............FREE rent and a half million dollar SWAC EBT CARD..

Dallas is full of JSU alumns. Far more there than Houston
Can't go anywhere in DFW w/o running into GSU/JSU/UAPB lol
JR, absolutely NO smack intended but SU has not chance in hell of going to Bham. ..and that is just MY opinion. Ya'll goal this season needs to be a winning season. The only thing working in your favor right now is that 3rd place is easier to get IF GSU does not rise from the ashes. TxSo is a non-factor so that also helps. If GSU returns to form, ya'll looking at 4th place.
NOW, having said that. I would LOVE to see SU in Houston. If SU gets there, SU vs JSU or AlaState would be one hell of a matchup. But I just can't see SU making it. Good luck tho... we need ya'll back. This 10 year absence ain't been good for the SWAC.
