Experts Pick AAMU to beat JSU....

Do you actually think that a top recruit will play for Hughes instead of Jones? Wait until it is clear that Jones and Hughes are recruiting the same kid. That will tell the story. Heck, if Kent could do it all over again, he would come to AAMU just to be coached by a Super Bowl winner.

Contrary to your belief NOBODY KNOWS A DAMN THING ABOUT JONES AND HIS SUPERBOWL RING.

Man its a good thing yall loss this past weekend.....
How stupid and delirious would you be if you beat JSU.

He dont understand, GR. They have ran out there and got a HC with a ring, but everybody received rings for the team that year. From the HC all the way down to the water boys. :( Just because he has a ring dont mean he can coach a team. H3ll, he might have been the backup place kicker or something. :shame:

Everybody will learn about it during recruiting season. Why have such a powerful recruiting tool and not use it? Jones would be foolhardy not to take advantage of it. Jones is no fool.

See, Hughes was derelict in not telling recruits about his honors and accomplishments. Or was he? Lets ponder that for one moment. What could he tell recruits? That being the best waterboy got him the HC's job? I guess you wouldn't want to advertise that to the kids. But maybe GR was right; maybe Hughes didn't have to recruit because he was at JSU. He didn't recruit, and it will show in a couple of years when Jones shows them what recruiting is all about.

The experts......what a joke.

Being an expert does not require a person to be correct in every particular fact included in the prediction; it only requires that he be correct in the outcome of the prediction as a whole. The experts might have been wrong in their particular prediction that AAMU would beat Jenny Sue, but they will be proven right in the ultimate prediction that AAMU will represent the East in the SWAC Championship Game. The expert prediction about the outcome of that game will be delivered in due time.

Some of the scientists who were wrong about the shape of the earth were, however, right about the effects of gravity and that the planets revolve around the sun. Would you discount the expertise of those scientists because they were wrong about one theory, when they were absolutely right about another theory that was just as important?

These Bama Fools........

Any recruit that falls for this Jones Super Bowl ring story is probably too dumb for college. Doug was able to use his ring to his advantage because it was done with a lot of media scrutiny with him being the first black QB ever to start in the super bowl and then taking MVP honors. I'm willing to bet that no one at Annie Mae even knew Jones had a ring until they read it in the press guide. A superbowl ring alone won't bring in any recruits. If I'm not mistaken, JSU alum Lewis Tillman has a ring from his stint with the Giants. But I doubt that he'll be on our short list for head coaches.

Kook-aid,

Have you called to confirm your reservations for B'ham yet? Better you spend that day helping Hughey get all his bottles of bleach and detergent together.

Now, I see why Jenny Sue is in the predicament she finds herself; Now, I see why Jenny Sue will promote a former water boy to HC. Jenny Sue does not believe that a coach's pedigree is important. Contrary to your beliefs, kids care about going to the next level. And who do they think can best get them there? They will believe and follow someone who has been there.

It doesn't matter that the rank and file fans did not know that Jones had a Super Bowl ring before he was hired. Mighty Dog and the AD knew it and were supposed to know it; that's why we let them do the hiring.

Tillman may have the ring, but can he coach? If so, it may be to Jenny Sue's advantage to hire him as HC. But Hughes is doing a fine job; why get someone else just to do the same thing Hughes is doing?

You hire a coach based on his coaching record, and his ability to motivate and prepare players, not because he was lucky enough to be on a super bowl winner. Personally, I look at a guy like Jimmy Smith, who hasn't been to the Super Bowl but is a textbook on determination and preperation. That's the kind of guy I want for my coach.

I believe Jones was a good hire for you guys, but not because he has a super bowl ring.

If you can hire a coach who has the ability to coach and has the ring, you have the best of both worlds.

Today's kids have seen a lot and experienced a lot. They are not easily movitated by just words of wisdom by a coach. Kids want to go places, and they are motivated by symbols of the things that they think are important. Kids are motivated by grand facilities that are found at some major colleges. Kids are motivated by the prospect of playing in a televised game. Some kids that want to go to the professional ranks will be motivated by the fact Jones has a ring. The kids will feel that Jones knows what it takes to get there. The kids may not be motivated by Jones the person, but may be motivated by the fact that Jones is part of a football fraternity that they want to join.

That eloquent statement still doesn't override the fact that there are a thousand players out there with a super bowl ring. A super Bowl ring is nice to have, but it shouldn't factor into the criteria for a head coach.

Kool Aid,

Jimmy Smith has 2 Super Bowl rings, courtesy of the Dallas Cowboys.

That is all. Carry on.
