Ever heard of a Starter wife???





It's like the wife who builds the empire with the man, then he dumps her for a newer model once he's "made it."

It was on USA. It was like a mini-series. I believe they showed the last episode a couple of weeks ago. I only caught about 30 min of one of the nights, I didn't watch the whole thing.

yeah, that's right...USA Network, not Lifetime.
 
I loved that mini-series. Debra Messing was great. I hate it was only 5 or 6 episodes. But that's exactly what a starter wife is, the person who was THERE. Usually has the child. Worked with/for the hubby...then she is left high and dry...

I thought it was a new show that had come out...not a mini-series. I was wondering why it ended so quickly.
 
I never saw the show. I had a parent once refer to herself as her ex-husband's "starter wife." She laughed her ass off when I saw the new wife (y'all know my face can't hide SHAT), because that batch (the new wife) looked like a straight up MISS ED. :shame: The only upside I gathered that she had over the first wife was that she was in better shape.

That was IT. The ex said, "Yeah, she's a real butterface ..." kinda to herself, but loud enough for me to hear, as they came into the room.

Took me a week to figure out wtf she meant by that. :lmao:

The starter wife usually puts the man through school, or helps him start his career, have the first set of children, establishes a home etc...

The trophy wife comes along once the man is established and is younger than the starter wife, usually 20 something with big breast and beautiful.
 
Oh...so my first husband was my starter husband. And my next husband will be the holder up of this trophy wife. OK, I get it now.

:emlaugh:@ buttaface...yeah i heard there are women in SWAC bands who had that as a crab name, i can't remember what band though. the term has also been stamped on a few band groupies too...lol.
 
I don't know about a starter wife because I don't believe in divorce BUT at this point in my life, I do believe in shacking before you get married. You don't know a person until you live with them. Or at least some people need PRACTICE living with someone else before the get married. :lecture:
