ESPN Draft Board: Quinn to Vikings at #7.

You are reaching Beans. Mirer came out of a non throwing ND system. Quinn is way more polished than Mirer. Mirer was a gifted athlete that got hyped at ND and they won some games. Mirer was mobile. I remember it the debate with Mirer vs Bledsoe. Mirer had more athletic ability and folks thought he would another Joe Montana. Bledsoe went on to be a solid Qb before Brady took his job in NE. Quinn will be fine.

JR, go back and do your research. Mirer lead them to the Championship and the #1 ranking.

College career
Mirer attended the University of Notre Dame from 1989-1992 accumulating a 29-7-1 record as starter including 3 bowl games. He began his tenure serving as backup to Tony Rice when Notre Dame won the national championship, then took the reins of the Notre Dame offense in 1990 and lead the team to the Orange Bowl. In 1991, Mirer set the single season touchdown record with 18 and was named co-MVP with teammate Jerome Bettis leading Notre Dame past Florida in the 1992 Sugar Bowl. He finished his career at Notre Dame by leading them to victory in the 1993 Cotton Bowl. Mirer accounted for more points running and throwing (350) than any other player in Notre Dame history. He left Notre Dame 1st in career touchdowns with 41 and 2nd all time for total offense, completions, and passing yards. Invited to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl, and Hula Bowl.

Like I said earlier, Braddy Quinn = Rick Mirer. Well, Mirer was awhole lot better than Quinn in college so I may need to say Braddy Quinn < Rick Mirer. LOL!!!

What Championship? ND did not win a NC with Rick Mirer at Qb. Holtz won a championship with Tony Rice at Qb. He was from South Carolina and they beat West Va and Major Harris out for the title that year if I am not mistaken. That was first time I saw 2 black qbs play for the National title.

Well, maybe not a Championship, but Mirer was better than Quinn. LOL!!

No, Mirer had a better team than Quinn. ND was no joke under Holtz from the late 80s to early 90s. Holtz recruited athletes first.........students second. LOL

JR, you just dont want to admit to it, huh? Mirer STILL hold "passing" and "passing TD" records at ND. What does Quinn holds? Himself? LOL!!!

Uh David Klingler and Andre Ware still hold passing records at U of H.......so what is your point. That doesn't mean you were a better Qb. Tom Brady has no passing records at Michigan. LOL. I am sure Quinn holds some ND passing records. He was a 4 year starter so I know he has too. Mirer got rated highly due to the fact he played on good ND teams and he was a great athlete. All that athletic ability didn't help him in the NFL. Which is the reason I think Quinn will be fine.

BTW Beans, go look at ND Athletic site and you will find that Rick Mirer is currently 4th as far as passing stats go in ND History. He sits behind Steve Buerlein, Ron Powlus and guess who is number 1? Brady Quinn. LOL. What's funny I am not even a Quinn fan, but this bashing of him is unfair. Actually looking at ND's Qbs they have had a decent number have good to great careers in the NFL. Powlus and Mirer were really the only busts. Buerlein, Montana, and Theismann did pretty well.

LOL!!!! JR, I see you still have alittle "flap" left in you. Just like that fish on the hook, going to get that last flap in there.

Ok JR, you win. Quinn is better than Mirer. He's better than Montana coming out of ND, Steve Young coming out of BYU, Andre Ware coming out of U of H, Ryan Leaf coming out of U of Washington, etc..... He's the bestest of the best. LOL!!! He will go on to be a stellar, future, NFL Hall of Famer QB.

How many people know a 100 percent that either Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell would be good or bad. I have been impressed by both and iffy on both sometimes. However, you can't judge a QB based on what other college QBs have done in the past. You guys know drafting a QB is a great risk. Both guys might be good and both might be bad. No one knows.

Nope I aint saying he is better than Joe Montana.....they didn't pass the ball in college like they do now. Joe also could win the big games at ND. Hence he has a National Championship ring to go along with his 4 SB rings. That's why he is my favorite Qb of all time. There is no one greater than Joe Cool. LOL. Steve Young had a great career at BYU as well.

But Quinn is better than Mirer coming out. Yes he is better than Ware and Leaf coming out. Ware played in a sandlot offense that you and I could have thrown for a ton of yards in and Leaf really only had one decent season at Wash State, just like Akili Smith did when he came out. The NFL scouts got fooled on his size and arm strength. But like Kendrick said, taking a Qb high is always a risk. Russell and Quinn have the tools to be good to great. Whether it translates to the NFL, we will see. But to automatically label Quinn a bust is pure speculation and easy to do for a QB slated to be drafted high.

Well, I guess for debating purposes for JR and Kendrick. I should put the tag of "my opinion" that Quinn will be a bust.

I think a lot of people are doubt Quinn based on three things.
1. He plays at Notre Dame. Not too many people like ND.
2. His team never won "a big game" while he was the QB
3. College football fans always compare him to other failed ND QBs.

In what way is he better?

Dude, he better. Just leave it at that. You'll see. When the likes of a Patrick Kerney, Ray Lewis, Joey Porter, etc.... come bailing down on the "Mighty Quinn" watch how he reacts. He's a David Carr in the making. LOL!!!

Won't Russell play against those same guys too?

Dude, it has been proven that Russell can take a lick and keep on ticking. Your "golden boy" hasnt had his lights put out yet. But OH! It's coming. Braddy Quinn = Episode II The Return David Carr. Lol!!!

We'll see how good Russell is playing behind that turnstile offensive line the Raiders have. LOL!!!

And we'll see how good "Golden Boy" Quinn is playing behind the injury rittle offensive line of the Lions or Browns. Well, I can just ask Joey Harrington since he's here in ATL how was it or I can call my cousins in Cleveland and ask them to ask Charlie Frye. LOL!!!

So Beans if Quinn plays behind a good OL in the NFL then what? We have seen he is pretty damn good when he gets time. You can't compare him to Carr. Carr got shell shocked in Houston and it lead to his demise. Also what about Russell? His OL protected him pretty well at LSU. But the Raiders OL sucks. Russell will be under attack and I would be willing to say Quinn is more mobile than Russell is. Or they are about equal. Neither is a threat to take off running. So both Qbs will see things they are not used too. For Quinn it actually will be better for him since he will finally have better team speed around him. Po Russell will have no OL and malcontent WRs in Porter and Moss to deal with. Not to mention a new young unexperienced NFL head coach. Sometimes the situation you fall in helps you or hurts you.

Say Kendrick and JR too, here's something to stick in you all's tobacco pipe and smoke while you rockin in your rockin chair in the afternoon. How many times have you saw Quinn lock in on a target? (Ex. WR that recently turn pro for baseball)

I guess I'll have to call Aaron Brooks and the backup QB who got sacked 8 times against the Seahawks on MNF last year.

JR, Quinn will be shell-shocked as worst as Carr. Believe me. Facing Ray Lewis 2 in a season along with that Pittsburgh defense and not to mention that Cincy's defense is starting to come on. Quinn is going to wish that he was back in South Bend. LOL!!

But Beans, Quinn aint that good and he may fall in the draft. LOL. The Lions will take Joe Thomas anyway. Joey Harrington was not sacked like David Carr was. Harrington just had too many coaches coming and going in that Matt Millen madness. Cleveland OL will be better this year and still is better than the Raiders OL. But I got a feeling that Adrian Peterson will be hard to pass for the Browns. The Ohio folks want Ohio native Quinn, but if I was them I would take Peterson instead. Frye and the other Qb aint that bad.

If I threw 96 MPH hour and was offered a $10 million dollar contract I would do the same thing too. You fail to realize he would have not been a potential first-round pick without Brady Quinn and the offensive scheme.
