ESPN College Gameday

It's definitely worth the try. Remember there's a very light schedule of games that day. ESPN might be VERY willing to get on bard the BAYOU CLASSIC bandwagon. It will be a plus for both programs!

Good point man. I hadn't thought about it that way but you are absolutely right.

ESPN College Game Day will do games that are not to be broadcast on ESPN or ABC. When they came to Baton Rouge earlier this year for the LSU/Georgia game, that game was a CBS game.

Read it again and let's get the emails going.

This is exactly what I was asking.

Cat Daddy is correct, that's why I thought about writing them. ESPN was in Baton Rouge for LSU/Georgia, and the game was broadcast on CBS, and the last time I checked, CBS, like NBC wasn't in the Disney broadcast family.

Ken, I gave you the assignment, because it was your idea of having one letter to be cut, and pasted.:D

NICE

Come on ken let's go baby!!!! At least thios is something that we alll almost agree about, LET'S GOOOOOOO GET DAT LETTER OUT.

LETS GO SWACER'S LETS GO...HEY,HEY,HEY LETS GO SWACER'S LETS GO...HEY,HEY,HEY LETS GO SWACER'S LETS GO...HEY,HEY,HEY!!

ESPN Gameday goes to games that are not televised ESPN or ABC. That show will go to the most intriguing game of the weekend, regardless of who shows it. It just happens that unless the most intriguing game is the SEC national telecast on CBS, the game will probably be on ESPN or ABC. And Gameday did do the LSU-UGA game this year. Didn't they do the Florida-Miami game this year and wasn't that game on CBS???

A bigger obstacle is what game will be played on that Saturday of the Bayou Classic. Usually there's not a real significant game that day. It is worth a shot. Give 'em something to think about.

The competition

Virginia Tech at Virginia
Georgia at Georgia Tech
Tennessee at Kentucky
Miami-FL at Pittsburgh
Florida State at Florida

The ESPN Gameday experience is a real treat. Back in '99, Corso, Herbstreit, and crew came when the Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech played Florida St. It was fun.

If Gameday can go to UPenn (last year), the BC is more than worthy.

I've sent my e-mails in with all 3 of e-mail addresses, but I spoke to Ken last night, and unfortunately he's too busy to construct a letter, so if you any of Grammericans out there can construct one, it'll be greatly appreciated.

JRock, JR, GSUpe, Jag-Tig, gramalum, SS, J4J.......

NICE

Well thank you ken for letting everyone whose waiting on you know.

Sounds like a job for the spellcheck mom.....ah hmm Nita?

I know you out there lurking

Cat, Notre Dame has an exclusive broadcasting deal for it's football games with NBC. Nobody else can show ND football at the present time. South Bend is Notre Dame and Notre Dame is exclusive to NBC. At least ND home games are. I see the ND-Stanford game is going to be on ABC.

Now, looking at the schedule that PNeck listed, I think that I would be kinda hard to get ESPN to go to Baton Rogue. Look at what the Bayou Classic is up against: Virginia vs. Virginia Tech, Georgia vs. Georgia Tech, and Florida vs. Florida State. I think that ESPN will end up in either Atlanta (UGA vs. Tech) or in Gainsville (FSU vs. UF).

But, it is worth a shot. The ESPN crew will be in Mississippi that Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) for the Egg Bowl (Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State in Starkville), so it might be logistically better for them to drive a few hours south to New Orleans.

I'll support them covering the Bayou Classic, though. That would be great exposure for the SWAC. I thought ESPN was down there when Coach "Rob" was coaching his last game. If they weren't, they should have been.

It will be tough to beat out UF-FSU or Pitt-Miami, but those games aren't always played after Thanksgiving. Matter of fact, Florida-Florida State is usually played on the same day as the Soul Bowl, Michigan-Ohio State and a bunch of other games that make up "Rivalry Saturday".

Please critic/edit

There's a war brewing. A battle for honor, respect, pride, and a championship. A battle between two tradition rich and nationally ranked football teams. A battle between 70k loyal fans. This battle pits neighbor against neighbor. Friend against friend. Brother against brother.... AND THIS TIME ITS FOR ALL THE MARBLES.

We'd like to invite ESPN College Game Day to broadcast from the 30th Anniversary edition of one of the most fiercest and storied rivalrys in all of college football. The State Farm Bayou Classic from the The Louisiana in the great city of New Orleans November 29th pits the Grambling St. University Mighty Tigers against the Southern University Jaguars.

This rivalry not only fuels some of the most heated fueds among each school's faithful, it also stands as the largest African American social event in the country with 70k fans attending the game and well over 200k in attendance for the weekends festivities.

This years installment not only marks the 30th anniversary of this game, it also stands as an elimination contest as the winner earns the right to represent the western division in the SWAC championship game on December 13th. The game will also showcase two nationally ranked D-1AA football teams as well as two players in the hunt for "The Walter Payton Award" given to the nations top 1-AA performer. This could also be the last game Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams coaches his Alma Mater Grambling, as rumors swirl about a potential move to the SEC.

Tradition, passion, rivalry, and excitement are all sononomous with The Bayou Classic and on November 29th, there won't be another game in the country to match what will be happening in Nawlin's !

Please consider this invitation to bring this rivalry to life for the rest of the country.

(Blah Blah Blah)

Here is my stab: features a little history of BC and both programs -- written in about 10 minutes -- so fill free to tear it apart. If we are to go forward -- a mutually agreed upon note should be sent ASAP.

As diehard college football fans, who exhibit great fervor and enthusiasm 365 days a year for both Southern and Grambling, this note is to request the ESPN committee for consideration in televising College Gameday live at Bayou Classic. As mentioned so eloquently via espn.com at the ?Vote for Best Rivalry,? this ?mini Mardi Gras? rivals the biggest party in the World, in addition to the Sugar and Super Bowls in terms of economic impact on the Crescent City.

The matchup features arguably college football?s most storied program in the Grambling Tigers ? which feature four former faces of G-MEN in Canton, OH as well as five in College Football Hall of Fame ? including the living legend Eddie Robinson and his prot?g?, SuperBowl MVP and current coach Doug Williams. On the other hand, the mighty Jaguars of Southern University sport equally a proud tradition as College Football Hall of Famer A.W. Mumford began the legacy of excellence of great athletes - from Hall of Famer Mel Blount to future first ballot Hall of Famer Aeneas Williams. Furthermore, another dimension of the game is the battle between the Human Jukebox of Southern and the World Famed Grambling Tiger Marching Band.

The Bayou Classic stages all these proud periods of Greatness of Southern and Grambling into one culminated event ? the mystical Saturday after Thanksgiving. At least 72,000 fans are an annual constant, win/loss records are immaterial, and passion of alumni and supporters are second to none. This intensity has created one of the biggest games in college football as evidenced by the Bayou Classic reaching every home America.

We encourage ESPN to consider and experience the pageantry of the Bayou Classic ? an event, in which fans travel to New Orleans from the ocean shores of the Pacific, Atlantic and abroad.
