Eddie Robinson Foundation Welcomes Alabama State

KEEPER OF THE FLAME!!
Alabama State:
The Eddie Robinson Foundation is proud and pleased to welcome you to the 2001 America's Youth Classic to be played this week at the University of Oregon.

The games will be televised on ESPN regionally so check your local listings.

Alabama State will join Long Beach State, Western Michigan, and the host Univ of Oregon as they help us move the ball forward and continue what the "Coach" started. This round-robin event promises to be competitive and exciting.

The Foundation was started by the Robinson family in 1997 as a means to continue the life-long legacy of Eddie Robinson and his committment to the Youth of America. This is the third year for America's Youth Classic, and each year a team from this tournament has gone to the elite 8 in the field of 64. Last year it was St Joseph's that emerged; the year before that it was Oklahoma State. Our tournament is the only of it's kind that guarantees participation and an opportunity for an HBCU.

Last year's HBCU was SC State and they had a great showing. They could have won the tourney but started watching the clock with a 12 point lead and they got roped in. They did get one win, though.

So here's to you, Alabama State. Represent like Champions. And if you attend the game, please stop by and give me a shout. I'll be the pretty Nupe in press row. :-)

America's Youth Classic begins Nov 15 and runs through Nov 17.

Have a good tourney. Best of Luck from the Chairman and CEO!!

Nupe,

Sounds like a great event. I'm sure the Hornets will represent the SWAC well. I won't be able to make that trip, I'll be in Itta Bena watching some COLE-BLOODED FOOTBALL.

GO HORNETS ! ! !

Thanks for the love!

Eddie Rob is really amazed (but not surprised) with what we have done in so little time with the Foundation. It means so much for him to be able to stay involved with the youth...As he has said many times since he retired..."I knew I could walk away from football; what I didn't know is how I could walk away from the kids. With my Foundation, I don't have to walk away.

On November 15th, we go live with our new website. I think there is something available for everyone on it. Whether you are looking for history or the latest in Foundation gear...it will all be available. Stay tuned for more from us...we have only just begun this new journey.
