Eddie George says Tennessee St looking for a new conference

It's almost as if there was a conference out there that makes sense for them that's been around since 1920.

And shout out to Eddie George for using his platform to put pressure on the TnSU admin and power players.

And if they added them, I would probably go for SCSU as most have said since they play a lot of SWAC schools anyway (plus they actually have a soccer team that has been playing as an independent)

In the sense of eyeballs on the product, adding Tennessee State makes sense. Kicking Bethune Cookman out doesn’t make sense.

Nashville is the 29th largest market and Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne is the 17th largest. If we’re going to grow this SWAC thing, we are going to have to grow the number of eyeballs on the product. Generate buzz in the markets we have a presence in, and use the data in negotiations with potential sponsors/partners.

Adding Tennessee State and SC State brings some oomph into the conference and potentially more oomph in the member schools’ pocket books

WE FULL!! No room at the Inn!!
So, geographically, does Tennessee State align better with SWAC or MEAC? It has long been time for TSU to leave the OVC. It has been a member of that conference for 26 years. Must have been pretty lonesome and boring being the only HBCU in a conference of White hillbilly schools in Tennessee and Kentucky. With all the attention being given to HBCUs from the George Floyd demonstrations, Deion's arrival at Jackson, and FAMU and Cookman pulling a western lateral, NOW might be the best time ever for TSU to pull a southern lateral. If it did so, it would establish immediate rivalries with nearby MVSU, UAPB, and AAMU in addition to established rivalries against JSU, GSU, FAMU and Southern University.

I agree and Nashville is growing rapidly. TSU being in Nashville has a lot going for it athletically and academically. The SWAC needs to give them an invite. SCSU too.

If, and I mean IF, TnSU and SC State come aboard, you have to move Jackson and Valley to the West to make the geography to make sense.

Plus, that preserves the majority of rivalries in the confines of their divisions. In other sports, a strict divisional format would help with travel costs.

For that to work and have all the Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas schools in the West, then you would have to move UAPB to the East.

Yeah you still would have an odd Mississippi out and would have to do like they are doing now with allowing Valley or JSU to keep JSU or Valley on their permanent schedule with a move to the West. And it simply wouldn't make geographical sense with Itta Bena and Jackson similar distance from the Mississippi River to have then in different divisions

That being said, it really wouldn't make a difference lol If it's Valley, we actually would gain UAPB as a permanent game and keep JSU on the schedule. If it's JSU, they would add SU and Grambling and would put a stop to those three with the SWAC OOC games tomfoolery (although they still could pull it with FAMU)

Y’all losing and still worried about who JSU playing lol Y’all cry about this every year all year. At some point your periods and cramps gotta stop lol y’all ain’t reached menopause yet? Cause 1400 gone do what they damn please and you loser schools will have to deal.

TNSU ain’t studdin’ the swac or the meac. They prefer to stay in the OVC and are hoping and praying the OVC fixes the conference so they can stay put. They’ll go apply for the big south or ACC before they come over and join the coloreds.

The Swac is more than a football conference.

TnSt don't even have baseball and that's a major sport that all the schools have in the conference.

Instead of always wanting to be the center of attention (and then acting like butt hurt divas once you get it because someone dared to mention JSU on a sports board (and then all THEE clowns on the board like and kee kee the post), actually try to add something damn meaningful to a convo for once that is not about JSU

Still don't get why TSU in the SWAC is so important and why everyone is pushing for it
Especially when it's obvious they don't want to join either. Joining the MEAC wouldn't put them in any better situation considering it's just as unstable. If Howard leaves that conference falls completely apart.

Preach!

this is the first time anyone associated with Tennessee State has said anything about this ever in recent years -

I think Eddie George was the right person to say it because TnSU is not going to fire him for saying it

We know a sizable number of TnSU alums feel the same way as he do but TnSU would rather go down with the dying OVC than join the SWAC but hopefully someone like Eddie can sway them into doing what they should have done two decades ago
