Early National Signing Day 2019

I want to be careful with what I say because anytinme the opinion is different from In the 662 he says I'm bashing MVSU. My onlt take is signing 6-7 players from one institution is that a good use of your scholarship dollars?
Probably not, but they have to sign whoever wants to be there. If it's all from one school, then so be it.
They'll probably all transfer after the fall year anyway.

the positive is they don't have to figure out to "gel" with one another.

As I said on Twitter, the December NSD is used by FBS schools to get the big name HS guys who don't wanna wait until February (last year about 75% of the 4-5 stars signed in December) while FCS schools like Valley have used it to plug in JUCO guys in areas of need (CBs and safeties as well as a QB and WR) who can be in school in January and get a whole semester to get used to the coaching staff. No one from Valley was shocked at the number of JUCO guys who signed (last year 8 of the 9 guys who signed in December last year were JUCO). Just didn't except so many from Jones (who were a top 10 JUCO team this past season). Southern and Grambling were poaching JUCO players from Mississippi as well

However, with so many JUCO guys, it means win now. Another 2-3 win season next year and it means get the moving van ready lol. When you go JUCO heavy. you sacrifice the future on not developing HS guys (especially on the defensive side) and going for the jugular now. Defensively we should be fine next year but as always it's the offense that is in doubt

Juco should be the Swac recruiting pipeline. We need kids in this conference who are ready to play ASAP! Especially at the key positions! It strengthens teams and it’s no big drop off in talent while waiting for hs kids to develop.

Grambling and Southern snagged a number of JUCO players from Mississippi so it's just not Valley doing it

In Valley's case, the JUCO players signed not only fill in spots that were vacated due to graduation but it addressed one of the major areas of weakness (secondary). Valley ranked high statistically in a number of areas on defense (sacks, TFL) so hopefully the JUCO guys can make the defense complete

Plus Dancy is holding up his promise of filling the roster out with Mississippi players (only one out of state player signed (punter))

I can’t believe I am saying this, but Valley got a very impressive JUCO boom of talent on thief roster now. I have always said that Valley and Savannah needed to beg some real JUCO talent to go to their programs in order to narrow the talent gaps & experience factors. Props to the Delta Devils.

When your FCS roster is 0 star recruit high school driven, your program is being set up to get the hell beat out of them on a regular basis as well. All of the top 25 FCS programs or even the 7+ win programs in the division have a roster of JUCO, FBS, and Grad transfers to go with their FBS overlooked recruits. It’s the only way to be up to division I par. Valley will not sniff a SCG or CB contending season without racking up in those transfers. They can try their best to develop kids who weren’t picked up by any FBS recruiters, but it will never be good enough. This year’s JUCO signees for Valley aren’t just random kids looking for a division I shot at life. They are noise makers. Looking forward to seeing if something is different.

The thing is Valley has stars on the roster. Just because we don't publicize them doesn't mean we don't have them or get them. Jalen Bell (2 star) started as a true freshman before getting hurt mid-season (verbal commit to Akron bu decommitted and chose Valley over AAMU). Antoine Howard was a 3 star redshirt freshman (who Valley initially offered but was a verbal to Cincy before signing with USM and got redshirted before transferring to Valley). We had a 2 star FBS QB transfer on the roster at summer camp (but I don't know if he transferred out or redshirted). Caleb Johnson (redshirt freshman RB) was a 3 star but lost a star after chose Valley over South Carolina straight up

Valley still is trying to develop high school guys but as you said you can't totally rely on it (one of the things that got Comegy fired). It has to be a healthy balance or 2013 is what will happen. We got Johnny Wilson (JUCO Sr) returning as a 6'4 guy with good spped and can highpoint jump balls but we also got true freshman WR Malik Myers who had a TD in 3 straight games with good speed

I'm glad yall got high hopes in these guys. Valley fans are just natually apprehensive lol I know we will be good on defense but we still need a QB. I know the scholarships are a point but I would definitely invest one in a decent 3-4 star transfer DT QB. Subpar turnover prone QB play was the difference in the first 3 games and getting blanked at home our last two games. If that don't improve, it won't make a difference
