It's funny you should say that because in the Rastafari religion, hair is viewed as very sacred. I had a few very close Rasta friends when I was in undergrad at Gram and they explained why they mostly kept their hair covered during the growing process. And they explained the difference between cultivated locs (what we see alot of here in the US) and free form locs (very common in Jamaica and with Rastafarians)... They even explained with scriptural references the biblical command not to cut one's hair.
But more than that, locs give the appearance of the lion's mane, which they feel represents strength/the Lion of Judah... I considered growing locs when I first went natural nearly 6 years ago, but 1. I don't have the patience for it and 2. I like to change my styles to much.... I think I'ma do a bc again and start over because I flat ironed my hair and I'll be darned if my curl pattern didn't get completely screwed up!:kaioken::kaioken::kaioken:

locs locs locs!!!!! Now I don't discriminate cause a fresh cut with some deep waves is hella sexy, but If I had the opportunity to create my perfect man, he'd have locs down his back. :lol: My favorite pic of Jesus is the black one with locs. :nod:

Show me some college/high school or entertainer/rapper pics, from the early 90's on back of people wearing their hair like that. FYI, Jamicans etc don't count. And hell, not many of them were wearing it either...

That is all I am saying "props to those who have them and keep them up and more important KEEP THEM CLEAN" BUT if you have ever been in the presence of one of those 'Stank Heads' that really stank and have the lil cotton balls and several other different kinds of lent from the dryer in that snit......along with what looks like some 'tiny livestock' living in that snit, you know what I'm talking about.
It is nauseating when you smell that snit whether it is at Church or Church Social where everyone is serving themselves and you smell that 'nasty Stank Head smell' or at the movies, or a sporting event, or a restaurant (yuck) :vomit::vomit::vomit::shame::shame::shame:

Right. And i'm sorry, a week is too much time gone by to not have washed those braids.
Especially if any perspiration has taken place. Oh well, each his own. I'm stickin with the low cut. And no pun on my sistas with the braid thing but I prefer my women with a regular hair style. :tup:

My son's dreads get washed at LEAST 2x per week. The more clean your hair is, and the less product gunk/build-up you have, the easier it will be fore your hair to lock.

:tup: Now see, thats real. I can't understand how people wash their dreads once a weak or every other weak. The dirt and gunk and bacteria that can build up can be just as bad as a "bad perm".

Once per week is NORM. 2 weeks, is DEFINITELY pushing the line..... I know people who didn't know any better and didnt wash their hair for the first 6months they were growing their locs.:vomit: I haven't the slightest clue how you can make it that long..... AND STILL HAVE HAIR GROWING ON YOUR HEAD!
