Mike Vick made us aware of it, so now let’s deal with it. All of it.

Superstar pocket passers receive more protection from NFL referees than superstar, athletic, scrambling quarterbacks. I’m reluctant to call that a fact, but I know it’s a widely held perception among players across the league.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees get better treatment from the refs than Vick, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. That’s the perception.

Here’s another one: Vick, Donovan McNabb and Vince Young — arguably the three most athletic QBs of the past decade — believe they receive the least amount of referee protection.

Let’s deal with it. All of it.

In the aftermath of Philadelphia’s stunning loss to the Giants and Vick’s latest injury — a bruised right hand — the $100 million QB couldn’t contain his frustration and pointed out what he believes to be an unfair double standard. He limited his complaints to his own situation, but my eyes and ears saw and heard much more.

“Everybody seen the game,†Vick said. “I’m on the ground constantly, all the time. Every time I throw the ball, in all my highlights, just watching film in general, every time I throw the ball I’m on the ground, getting hit in the head. I don’t know why I don’t get the 15-yard flags like everybody else do.

“But I’m not going to complain about it. I’m just going to make everybody aware of it and hopefully somebody will take notice.â€

Kinda thought that when he first came back. But on the other side of the ball he and the other scramblers are potential ball carriers. You can't go running at them with the mindset to pull up when there's a good chance they'll run.

Yeah but, he set that ball rolling when he got in the league by getting by on him ability and not learning to be a pocket passer,that ship has already sailed.
 
There were many classless hits on Vick. I commented on it during the Atlanta games. and it was obvious during the Giants game. Don't give me that crap about he isn't a pocket passer.

it's as if the Refs have been told not to call late hits on Vick and the players have been told to take shots at Vick. The hit in the Giants game after the interception, I was like what was that. The player unloaded on Vick, but when Brady threw the interception the play like Brady run by him...the interception that the Bills ran back for a TD.

I was hoping the BLACK defensive players would have enough CLASS not to unload on VICK late. That's black on black crime but

Vick needs to shut his sorry fragile ass up and take what's coming to him. He is over hyped and over rated. Just the other day he was bragging about playing against him is 60 minutes of hell ...now he is crying about they hitting him too hard to late and in the head. That's a real coward move.

Maybe his coach should have been trying to sign linemen instead of defensive linemen and cornerbacks. He is about to go down in flames again. Another 100 mil down the drain.

Well I disagre with them protecting Drew Brees more, because I've seen him get cheap shots many times and`no flag.
 
I can see both sides of the argument. It shouldn't matter that he is a scrambling QB. Once that ball is out of his hands and he STILL gets hit late, then the flags need to be thrown...just like if it were Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

However, when he leaves that pocket and tries to make it down field and he gets popped in the mouf, there is nothing he can say or do about that...but try to use his speed to avoid getting hit.

But I think this speaks to the job the linemen have to do when protecting scrambling QBs. They can't keep up with that speed. So I imagine it would be difficult to protect their QB. But if their QB is in the pocket, they need to make sure their QB doesn't get hit. The Eagles line doesn't do a good job protecting Vick at all.

Well Vick..that means someone went unblocked. Honestly most of Vick injuries would still have happen even if the hits werent late, which some werent anyway.

Remember the crap he was saying last week about teams facing him and that its 60 minutes of hell? Now all of a sudden he is crying to the refs? What prison was he in? Dont look like he learned a lot. Snitching like a lil punk...."they hitting me...yall aint protecing me" Ive been saying for years that him and Mcnabb are sissys and it all comes to fruition.
