DJ Williams says Grambling is beyond the protests, struggles

You know that exact same scenario happend with SU back in 99 or 2000 in the Bayou Classic with Troy Williams and Terrance Levy. We were getting destroyed and Grambling had this big lead. Folks were chanting to put Levy in, but Pete Richardson was being stubborn and continued to play Troy Williams. Next thing we know he is laid out on the field injured. It was an awkward moment because we were sad that he got injured, but quietly on the inside, we were happy that Levy was coming into the game. Next thing we know, we come all the way back to win the game.

Don't put me that number. I will be the first to tell you that if DJ doesn't look impressive and win the starting job after 5 F'n years of starting QB experience above the high school level and a FCS conference championship, then he needs to sit his _ss on the bench for the season. However, I refuse to bash this kid like many others are doing. He is a Grambling man who showed pure class during dark times. DJ speaks highly of Grambling in every interview. If he wins the job, I wish him another SWAC title.


If he doesn't win, then I wish J. Williams or Johnson both great seasons. I really like Johnson. I think he is going to have a good career at Grambling.

Oh lord!!!!!!! When SU fans bring up that F'n Terrence Levy, I am ready to fight!!!! LOL!

I remember in 2001 when Levy was about 40% healthy and came in the game while we were up 24-0. All of my Grambling/NOLA crew screamed,"ohhhhh sh_t". I lost my voice screaming at our LB corps to put him on his _ss!" That dude was a comeback master.

Just let things play out Grambling folks. I am sure the coach won't name a starting QB that he doesn't feel can get the job done.

Dude check his high school stats and see what position he excelled in at Tampa High School.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Williams began his prep career at Jefferson but transferred to TC before his junior season. With the Crusaders, he backed up Christian Green at QB and saw extensive time at WR.

If DJ doesn't win the starting after starting for 3 years in the SWAC, 1 SWAC Championship ring and 1 year of starting in the military prep ranks, we don't need to see him at WR this season. He just needs to be the back up QB. We have too many WR's on the rosters and don't have time to experiment. I would rather see our lone highly rated/ top recruit *** WR Marcus Perkins start and gain experience instead of redshirting this season.

But seriously...during the Spring game DJ looked like a QB freshman back-up who got out of high school early...and enrolled at GSU in January and tried out for the team during Spring training. We all can come from a good pedigree but there are times where we want so badly to be what our parents want us to be rather being ourselves. It's a great stroy line but it did not pan out as predicted.
 
DJ was just as good as any QB in the SWAC except those PV QBs. His problem was he has no talent around him. He might be holding on to the ball because no one is open. Name the 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th level ALL SWAC WR on Gramblings team. He might not be great, but he ain't a bad SWAC QB.

I don't think he was ever officially ruled ineligible at Grambling, but yes the eligibility rules are slightly different in D2.

If you have never transferred before from a four-year school, you might be able to use the one-time transfer exception to play
right away at a Division I or II school.

1. Be playing a sport other than baseball in Division I, basketball in Division I, men's ice hockey in Division I or football in Division
I. Note: In football you may be eligible to use this exception if:
a. You transfer from a Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) school to a Football Championship Subdivision
(formerly Division I-AA) school and have at least two seasons of competition remaining; or
b. You transfer from a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) school that offers athletics scholarships to a
Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) that does not offer athletics scholarships.
Important Note: If you do not qualify for this exception due to any of the conditions in Subsection 1 above, you may

My point is that he may have left Grambling before being ruled ineligible. He transferred right around the time summer school would have ended. He likely took enough classes over the summer that year to meet the D2 qualifications. There is a limit to the number of classes a D1 athlete can count annually toward progress toward a degree.

He started a year at Hargrove Military Prep before coming to Grambling.

AC wasn't officially ruled ineligible for the 2011 season. He was facing serious academic issues that were going to keep him out of the spring and most likely summer. He decided to go to D-II WSSU instead of dealing with all of the FCS academic requirements, and waiting until the fall to learn a new system under a new coaching staff with no summer or spring practices. Had he taken care of business in the classroom, he would have started in 2011. Everyone around the program including DJ knew this.

Grambling last year was a bad team, with three coaches in one season, an unsupportive president, with bad players and bandwagon fans around the young man. Some of you people are irrational. :smh: :lol: :emlaugh:

Well could Johnathan Williams score with the same WRs, and in 3 games and 2 starts have more passing TDs than DJ all season long?

Last year...man year before that also...and hell the year we won the SWAC Championship that mess was luck...Hell we had Super Mario (who was a walk on from the intramereal league.

If Johnathan Williams is the guy that replaced DJ and played in the BC, he aint remotely on DJs level. If anyone should be moved to WR its him.
 
That 2011 championship doesn't belong to DJ, but Frank Rivers, he played most of the games down the stretch until Bayou Classic, when Doug pulled him to play DJ on TV against a sorry SU team. Doug played dirty, sometimes waiting to Thursday to tell frank he was the starter that week, or not speaking to him during the game, and we aren't bashing DJ, but after 3 years of seeing the same thing, I don't trust him as our starter!
