In this passing year, a colleague of mine carried out a vision with creating an event to inspire and encourage Black Males who aspire to obtain their Doctorate. The event which took place back in February brought out an overwhelming number of participants with so much positive feedback. I myself had the honor an privilege of being one of the featured speakers on a panel. The next event will resume once again in February. I will also once again have the honor of being involved yet this time as a moderator for one of the break out discussions.

Full Details of Event:

The road to doctoral completion can feel lonely, especially for Black males who constitute only 2.5% of all earned doctorates. Live via Zoom, Dissertating While Black aims to provide a virtual space for connection, collaboration, and community for Black male doctoral students seeking a sense of brotherhood in the doctorhood.

Audience:
*Black male doctoral students at any stage in their journey
*Black males interested in pursuing a doctoral degree
*Black male doctoral degree holders

Expectations:
*Wisdom Affirmations to EMPOWER us
*Spiritual Grounding to CONNECT us
*Musical Expression to INSPIRE us
*Breakout Rooms to BE us

Purpose:
“It takes a village to raise a doctor.” Dissertating While Black is a free virtual event designed for Black male doctoral students to connect, collaborate, and commune for the express purpose of supporting each other towards completing their doctoral degrees.
