Dante Stallworth pleads guilty to DUI manslaughter

Stallworth was drunk. So, for starters, he wasn't supposed to be behind the wheel of a car. Agree?

You said it was a busy roadway. None of the other drivers hit him. The drunk driver did though.

MH,

How would more than one person even be able to hit the man unless he was run over and the driver kept going? That part of your argument makes no sense.

Once he is hit, more than likely the driver would stop and no one else would be able to hit him anyway.

DUI is the charge for driving drunk. I agree. Nobody should do it.

And again, you keep saying "the" drunk driver hit him. As if you know nobody else was driving drunk. "A" drunk driver hit him.

If Stallworth had a decent lawyer, he woulda won at trial. Deal was simply too sweet to pass up and take the risk, tho.

If being drunk was the only element needed to prove manslaughter in this case, I'd be on your side.

rob,
Him being drunk is just one of the elements, but it aint the only one. There's no denying Stallworth was drunk. There's no denying Stallworth hit the man. There's no denying the man was killed when he was hit.

There's plenty of denying why he got hit.

and all I'm saying, regardless of why he pled guilty, at the end of the day, he did. He said he was guilty of causing that man's death. And for that, he was sentenced to 25 days in jail.

He Pled guilty because it would have hurt Stallworth More fighting this in Court and being proven not Guilty.
The Faster he can let this Die, the Better for his Career.

As if you know nobody else was driving drunk. .
you're right. I don't know that. And even if there were 100 other drunk drivers out there, none of them hit him, other than Stallworth.

So, while it's bad that 100 other folks were out there driving drunk that morning, that has no bearing on Stallworth hitting that man.

And if 100 other drunk drivers could not hit him, that makes Stallworth looks worse that he actually did.

There's plenty of denying why he got hit.
But we can't deny he got hit though. By Stallworth. Who was drunk at the time.

and I disagree that he would've won at trial. As soon as the prosecutors worked it from the angle of a construction worker running to catch the bus after working an overnight shift was hit and killed by an NFL player driving a Bentley, it would've been over for Stallworth

You say that as if all the other drivers AVOIDED the man. Maybe the MAN avoided all the other drivers and just wasn't fast enough to get out of Stallworth's way.

ain't that simple dude. Which one was where they were supposed to be. If a man jump into a swamp full of alligators, you can't blame the alligators for eating him. that dude put himself into the path of that car in the middle of the street. His own actions got him killed, to. You can't say, if stallworth hadn't been drunk the man wouldn't have gotten run over. Even sober, stallworth still mighta hit that dude. But you can most definitely say, if that man hadn't gone out into that street, he wouldn't have gotten run over by stallworth.

thank you!

A little common sense question, "Would you flash your lights at a person right in front of your car or some distance down the road?" You probalby won't get the same response from a sober person and a drunk person.

I think the line that's being ignored is the one of the judicial system. With our amazing system ( )...I can see how you can get off like Dante did.

But, I don't see how some of you are dancing around the main facts. 1) Dante was drunk...2) Dante got behind the wheel, while drunk (which he admitted to in court)...3) Dante hit ol'boy...and 4) Ol'boy died because of collision.

Now, where what other drivers was doing is totally irrelevant to me. I don't care if it was 20 drunken monkeys returning from a J5t game, driving along side Dante and they all missed him. Dante didn't miss.

NFL suspends Stallworth indefinitely without pay

The NFL on Thursday suspended Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth indefinitely and without pay. The suspension comes two days after Stallworth pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter in the death of a 59-year-old man in Miami.

Stallworth has begun serving a 30-day jail sentence as part of his punishment. He will also be on probation for 10 years following his jail term.

Rest story

Goodell took the action that I expected.

I can understand this.

I have posted elsewhere that I feel that Stallworth was fortunate to get the deal that he received. However, I would not obviously be in his shoes.

Consider these. The guy was a Cuban in Miami, a city dominated by Cubans. I have only been to Miami once since I was a kid and do not know the city well at all. As I understand it many of those Miami Cubans are politically conservative. A Black man like Stallworth is fortunate to get a deal like this.
