This is something he should have said to rookies in private.

I know it is hard but often times when have to distance ourselves from those negative people in your life. It's easier said than done.

Well this wasn't an issue until former 49ers LB Chris Borland made some comments about it. Of course, he said far more damning comments, most notably that he didn't trust the league to look after the best interests of the players. Of course, the story has become about Carter's comments because the league doesn't want to have a real conversation about substantive things.

I don't think he should be fired or even suspended behind it but as mentioned before, this didn't become an issue until yesterday when the NFL had the video on their official website since March 2014.

They made CC the fall guy smh
 

Although I don't agree with the person doing the commentary here, I don't know what Chris or Warren was think.

I'm still tripping on this "fall guy" foolishness. smh Perhaps if folks weren't so dumbly stupid doing dumb things (illegally) they wouldn't have need to displace the punishment on someone else. We agree on this. Cris Carter is one Buckeye that fans and alums cringe when he has something to say. He gets on this is what he should do. Contrary to popular belief about Randy Moss breaking up the Vikings locker room. It started right before Cris left or was basically told they were not resigning him. He has too much to say about what folks should do and it was starting to eat away the locker room in Minnesota. The head coach didn't help matters either. LOL.

Now I do think this is a witch hunt now that Borland is opening his mouth about any and everything. Cris may end up being the Fall Guy at ESPN and not allowed to speak to NFL perspective rookies again. LOL.

What if Michael Irving didn't have a "fall" guy cousin when he was caught with that crack pipe in his car? He would've been in jail.
If Michael Vick had had a fall guy, he wouldn't have lost out on millions, but he didn't.

Of course he shouldn't have publicly said it out loud, but it was good advice.
Nobody's perfect, especially folks who suddenly become millionaires at the immature ages of 22-25, so rather than lose out on millions, pay somebody to take the fall for you.
Folks act like this is something new. Old ass businessmen do it all the time after they get caught embezzling.

How soon we forget what it was like for many of us at that age. Some of us probably wish we had a fall guy to help us out of much of the mess we got in at that age. LOL!
 
JayRob, it has to suck to be that stupid young man where some were blindly dumb as hell and unprofessional @ that age, while disloyally referring to themselves as "college" educated. Too damned funny, to me lol. The better advice, from a mentally mature standpoint that many won't be able to relate to, would have been for CC to say "stay your dumb a$$ out of trouble and walk like you're a mature and educated individual who seeks to do more good than bad." That's too much like right lololololololololololololololololololololololololol.

CC is who he is...a wanna be refined astute intellectually aware never did nothing wrong gotta chance to be on TV curlud man. He was, by his own admission, a troubled young man. The advice he gave is the advice you'd expect to hear from a street dude.

JayRob, is correct saying this is nothing new and old businessmen have been doing it but I'd like to add...just because you wear a 3 piece suit does not mean you are not 'street'. Last time I checked mob men wore suits everyday.

Come on Panthro, even seasoned, well-educated, rich folks make dumb decisions every now and then and get caught up in the system, and at the ages of 22-25, you can multiply that number.
Why not have a backup plan just in case is all CC was saying. That's smart thinking if you ask me, but he should've whispered this bit of info in their ear.
