I usually make white cornbread. I rarely make yellow and if I do then it is Jiffy. My mom is a big fan of Jiffy.

Yellow cornbread. Martha White yellow cornmeal. And it has to be sweet.

I love Jiffy, too. I ain't big on mixes, but Jiffy is aight wit me.

:lol::lol:

Wha chu know bout cracklins boi? MH, you ain't so bad afterall. My dad called me last week, and told me he'd just fried some, and wanted to know if I wanted him to send me a sack.

I like Jiffy, and Betty Crocker cornbread. I can cornbread everyday of the week, especially on Monday's. For my New Olreans, and South La peeps, y'all know Monday is red bean day, and nothing taste better than a big plate of hot red beans & rice with the cornbread mixed in it. Dayum that's good.

NICE

Speaking of cornbread, my father told me something that I just could not believe. After eating some cornbread that he made, I asked him why my cornbread didn't taste like his. His reply was, "because I put mayonaise in mine and you don't!" I was like, MAYO? But the proof was in the puddin'; his cornbread made me want to :slap: somebody. My question is, has any one of you ever heard of such a thing?

The mayo probably makes it moist.

Substitute the oil in a cake mix recipe with Mayo and you will have one of the best cakes ever. Won't even need to drink milk while eating it. :tup:

Mayo? :confused: Now, that I have never heard of. :smh:
According to my mom, it's a substitute for eggs...plus since it's made w/oil it makes the bread moist. I alway use 1 giant tablespoonful when I'm not using eggs. :tup:

see, ya'll gonna mess a brother up...one person says it substitutes the oil and now it substitutes eggs....:slap:

Aye...

Has anybody had cornbread with a couple of drops of VANILLA in the mix???

That is some good stuff! :nod:

Back in da day, I would put a dash or two of cinnamon in my jiffy mix...and it added a nice flavor to it! :hat:

I knew a guy who puts the cinnamon...

but I like Jiffy, Martha, Betty Crocker, regular corn meal from scratch if I make it with lots of sugar, and Cotton Pickin' from Arkansas. My hubby's co-worker's mom makes it with greens....that she brings from Arkansas.
