UNLV, you know what the assignment is. After they join, who will be the eighth?
You would think the Mountain West will send an invite to ND State
They don't want to move up
Would keep my eye on San Jose State
It seems decision makers of N. Dakota State have decided a perennial FCS championship program is better for their institutional brand over moving up into FBS insignificance.
If that is their thinking, I can't argue with that.
Unlikely. If they went undefeated they'd likely get a playoff spot. They'd also make far more money for doing so. The MVFC teams haven't moved up because they just don't have a G5 conference close to them. You think teams like App State, Ga Southern, JMU, SHSU, etc were worried about the FCS playoffs? The Dakota schools are just in a bad location.Yup. They know that if NDSU moved to the MWC, schedule well and go 12-0, they could easily miss the College Football Playoffs and get stuck in the 2025 Rachel’s Place Bowl vs 8-9 win Big 12 team.
I agree. Especially with San Jose State having the
Battle For The Valley Rivalry with Fresno State and the El Camino Rivalry with San Diego State. Both rivalry games are competitive with respectable series results, and both would be enhanced greatly as PAC-12 conference rivalry games now that the Battle of LA (USC-UCLA), Big Game (Stanford-Cal) Rivalries has stepped away from the conference. The PAC-12 must have California Rivalries to stay relevant.
#2 on the look out list would most likely be Air Force. Their longest rivalry is for the Ram-Falcon Trophy with new PAC-12 member Colorado State, and they would bring the Commander & Chief Rivalry with Army & Navy to the PAC-12’s backyard. The PAC-12 would easily enhance Air Force’s national appearance and be a seller.
#3 would properly be Hawaii as they have a rivalry with Fresno State and at least have a marketable name.
#4 could possibly be New Mexico State who would leave C-USA easily. This move could help the PAC land New Mexico later on as both schools would help save PAC-12 Basketball seats in the Big Dance.
Speaking of PAC-12 Basketball, #5 & #6 could possibly be Gonzaga and Saint Marys. They are basketball schools that would keep the PAC-12 relevant on the court no matter what.
The new PAC-12 would definitely be a West Coast Version of the Big East! It would be a basketball conference.

Is it just going to be for football like Army and they will join the WCC for all other sports. as that seem the most logical?Air Force is heading to the American announcement should be coming soon.

I guess it all depends on what the MWC is offering, as their current conference payout is not enough for the Dakota schools to move up. The MWC could use part of the exit and penalty fee money, that they are getting, to help offset the costs for schools to move up.I don’t agree, but I definitely hear ya. I truly believe NDSU loves being a FCS powerhouse. They have had chances to leave before.
I don’t think UTEP wants to go to the PAC. I think they want to wait for a Big 12 invitation.I guess another scenario would be the Pac-12 also getting UNLV and Nevada-Reno, along with New Mexico State and UTEP, to get to 12 football-playing teams. I doubt New Mexico State would get an invite before New Mexico itself, but what do I know LOL

All sports, remember there are no fiscal restraints at a military academy like at other universities. Is it just going to be for football like Army and they will join the WCC for all other sports. as that seem the most logical?
I mean, at this point, who is even going to be left for them to play in fcs aside from the MVFC and Big Sky teams? App State, Ga Southern, JMU, Kennesaw State, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, ODU, Delaware... all FBS now. And there will likely be more FCS call ups. Even with the MWC getting raided, it's still more money than they'd make in the MVFC... no question. On top of that, if they were FBS, they could win the MWC and have a chance at the FBS playoffs...which is FAR more lucrative than the FCS playoffs with both finances AND exposure. The logic of them not wanting to consider FBS makes no sense. If NDSU were in the south, they'd be FBS already.I don’t agree, but I definitely hear ya. I truly believe NDSU loves being a FCS powerhouse. They have had chances to leave before.
