Cochran Asking Blacks to Rescue Him in Republican Primary

They still "eating their own".
McDanial is mad enough to chew a brick in half.

Cochran wins runoff; McDaniel refuses to concede, plans challenge..............Clarion Ledger Read / VIDEO
Thad Cochran has won the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate for the seventh time, squeaking past challenger Chris McDaniel in a runoff Tuesday, according to unofficial results.

ELECTION RESULTS: See how each county voted

But McDaniel didn't concede Tuesday night and in a speech to supporters referenced "dozens of irregularities" in voting Tuesday and indicated he would challenge the results over Democrats voting in the Republican primary.

Cochran led McDaniel 51 percent to 49 percent, in a turnout that spiked from 319,000 voters in the June 3 primary to more than 360,000 for Tuesday's runoff. He will face former U.S. Rep Travis Childers, a Democrat, in the November general election.

Cochran thanked supporters and said, "This is your victory."

"What we have reflected here tonight is a consensus for more and better jobs for Mississippians, and for a military force with the capacity to defend the interests of the United States," Cochran said.

Man, those folks were mad and their feelings were HURT! It was hilarious to look at the expressions on their faces and to watch that emotional "non-consession" speech.

Those idiots were talking about writing McDaniel in. Y'all need some instigators. Somebody to encourage these people to try to write in Chris McDaniel. Splitting the Republican vote would only give the Democratic candidate a better chance to win. These people are dumb and they are followers. They have proven that they would do something self-destructive if they thought the other racists were doing it too.

We laughed at that.
I know his wife was hurt. She could just see herself mingling in Washington power circles with the wives. Bet she been looking at places to live every since the first primary.

Once again it is a gut busting funny let down for the Tea Party. :lmao:

I know the timeframe between the elections was short, but I really wish Democrats and the Black community in general would've done more to leverage their support for Cochran into more tangible promises. There were 3 plausible nominees for Senate - McDaniel, Cochran and Childers. Out of that bunch, I thought Childers was the best candidate if you're black and a democrat. McDaniel was by far the weaker of the general election candidates. There's no way McDaniel would've received Cochran's endorsement after that nursing home stunt and at least a portion of the state republican establishment would've stayed on the sidelines for the general election. Childers had a shot.A long-shot to be sure but that's a lot better than no-shot.

In my opinion, we would've been better off sitting out the republican primary and saving our ammunition for the general election. Afterall, when Cochran wins, he's still going to the same Washington republican party that's now all about obstructing the President. He's a part of that system. 99% of the things Cochran touted happened prior to 2008. This is a very different republican party in Washington. At this point if you're a Democrat and you have a chance at a deep-red Senate seat like Mississippi, you take it.

Have the black folks who showed up and showed out for Cochran gotten their chicken and watermelons yet?

Neither of them are worth a shat but as for the blacks you basically calling uncle toms, what would you prefer.

Cochran or a guy that wanted to cut off all federal funds for education, repeal OBAMACARE, and basically get to Washington and act a Mississippi fool because you can't name me one black candidate or demo candidate that will beat the Repub candidate in this state.

Forget the blacks that did vote.
I want to know what the blacks that didn't vote gonna do when their black azzes start to complain AGAIN like always. At least they can say they didn't "sell out" for watermelon and fried chicken while they sitting on their azz waiting for their monthly guv-ment handout. . :smh:

Cochran also wants to repeal "Obamacare".

That is the across the board Repub motto.
There is not one that don't cling to that hope. Cochran actually ran ads saying he voted against Obamacare 100 times. People I know would always laugh because that meant he lost 100 times. The blacks in the neighborhoods that ran commercials for Cochran in this area actually said on the advertisement that Cochran was the lesser of two evils.

Cochran is nowhere near the crazy idiot that McDanial is.
He is dyed in the wool, Tea Party Sarah Palin clownish crazy. Cochran is not fooling anyone. Blacks in this state know that in his 40 years in Washington, he has never, EVER reached out to the black community to get elected like he did in this election. As for blacks, what choice did we have other than keeping Chris McDanial down in the south Mississippi boondocks and not in Washington.

Vote for the lesser of two evils and you still end up with someone evil LOL. I understand the strategy but I think it was the wrong one. Cochran isn't as effective in today's Washington as he once was - that's one claim McDaniel got half-right. And Childers had a shot at beating McDaniel.

What are you basing that on? Cochran supporters not voting for McDaniel if he won? The Republican party is Mississippi is still split after last night's votes. McDaniel supporters were talking about writing him in or staying at home and not voting at all in the general election. If you're counting on a split Republican party to give Childers a chance, then his chances haven't really changed much after last night's results.

No matter what, Mississippi REPUBs would not vote for Childers.
Childers will be slaughtered just like all the rest of the DEMOS that have run for that seat.

McDaniel wasn't going to get Cochran's endorsement and many of the establishment guys would've only endorsed begrudgingly. You have to understand for a guy like Phil Bryant, the success of a McDaniel only increases the chance of you getting a primary opponent. Also, Blacks and other democrats who would've been motivated by the chance to vote against McDaniel in the general will likely stay home. Finally, the national democratic party and other outside groups who are sitting on the sidelines will stay there now Cochran's the opponent. They would've put real money behind Childers had McDaniel won. All in all, I say Childers would've had about a 30-35% chance of winning that seat. Not great but a heckuva lot better than the 0% they have now.

I see your point, I'm just not sure it's totally accurate.

A portion of McDaniel's supporters are not going to vote for Cochran. That alone creates an opportunity for the Democrats. If they get lackadaisical and don't take advantage of the opportunity by getting out the vote, then that doesn't automatically mean they didn't have a chance. They have a chance. It's just a matter of them seizing the opportunity by getting folks to the polls. Now is not the time for the Democrats to be apathetic. It's time to attack.

Naw.
Cochran has never turned down money for the schools in this state. That idiot Mcdanials wanted to cut off Federal funding for education in Mississippi so that the FED's "would not have a hand in Mississippi Education............COMMON CORE".

He is literally one of those fools that would shoot his foot off if you told him putting one foot in front of the other will take you places. You know a person is a fool when traditional Mississippi Repubs don't want to follow you. :smh:

:dead: Well damn! :smh: :lmao:

Derrick Johnson, president of the Mississippi state branch of the NAACP, told me Wednesday on my syndicated radio show that Cochran’s office reached out to him several times. While not endorsing the incumbent, Johnson told them that his top priority in Congress is the re-authorization of the Voting Rights Act, which was severely crippled by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Johnson said there isn’t a single Republican sponsor of the bill in the U.S. Senate, and Cochran should be the first. The senator and his staff didn’t commit, but it’s going to be hard for him to back away from a major request when his political life was extended by the very folks Johnson also represents.

In fact, Johnson said the presidents of historically black colleges like Jackson State, Alcorn State, Mississippi Valley State, Rust and Tougaloo should be preparing extensive resources requests for Cochran. And he had the same advice for the 81 black mayors across Mississippi.

Good Job Black Mississippi for taking a bad situation and turning it in your favor!.........

Yes

I told ya'll they really hate Jackson and Hinds county now.

Guess who's ballots are being looked over by the Tea Party reps. HINDS COUNTY. The word is................(:x: keep it quiet :x: )...............Cochran won because of liberal black democrats in a particular area. These mofos are so pissed off, if you put a brick between their teeth, they would bite it in half with on chomp.

This deal isn't really bad if they hold Cochran's feet to the fire and make him deliver.

yep.
but basically, the black people around here know what Cochran is about and how far he will go. He will work with minorities in this state and back things in our favor. Now we should be able to get more. NOBODY wanted to see Chris McDanial win. I honestly believe people would have voted in Cochran even if nothing was promised just to keep that lunatic McDanial out of Washington. That fool will put some of the crazy tea party members already in Washington to shame with his garbage.

I say again.
When regular Mississippi Repubs from the mold of Trent Lott, haley Barbour, the Madison County Repub political circles, etc, don't want you to win, you know you crazy. Even Madison mayor, the ultimate Repub out there backed Cochran over Mcdanial.

McDaniel arse had several things against him.

1st thing is he is crazy as hell and like you said, no one wanted that side show in DC repping MS. Our state got enough image problems or perceptions to deal with. LOL.
2nd is he ain't part of the good ole boy FAMILIES that run the state of MS. He is poor white trash to Barbour, Cochran, and other RICH BLUE BLOOD old school Republicans. He didn't have the right pedigree in their mind. All of them are undergrad graduates of Ole Miss and not just the Law School. McDaniel only went to Ole Miss for law school. Hell you only have two law school choices in MS anyway. Ole Miss or Miss College Law in Jackson. LOL. So he is not one of them FRAT boys from Ole Miss like Barbour, Lott, and Cochran.
