Why TP? Yall can still run the QB and run the FB. But you need a passing offense to compete consistently with the big dogs. Ga Tech will never beat Dabo and them with the same offense you have now.

That would be the logical hire! In fact I hope so. I’m not looking forward to facing Kennesaw’s wing bone attack next year.

Actually I take that back. They might this time around.

Thing is, its hard to transition away from the triple option once you have been in it for a long time. Most of those players are bred for it. Any changes and the whole offense is a fish out of water. FBS coaches only get 2 or 3 years and it'll take that long to get enough new athletes

You have to beat Dabo with defense. Tech loses most games on defense. When we have a good defense, we win. Paul Johnson had some pretty bad DCs and our offense is actually our equalizer. BUT hey, this is all news to me so I have no idea what direction we are going. Johnson had a contract til either 21 or 22. He is 61 years old so for him to step down is a surprise. I expected him to stay until at least 65. Also, if he was a school like UT with lesser academic requirements, he would be a 8 -9 win coach every year with that offense. ijs

Forgot about Monken. The preference is probably for the offense to change. We have have a new AD who is working HARD so its not telling where we end up.

And one thing I keep trying to get people to understand is that we dont give out B.A. degrees. Everything is a B.S. so if you cant pass math and science courses, you cant enroll.

To that end, Durham said that Johnson’s successor will be someone who understands and embraces Tech’s academic rigor and its impact on football.

“You’re not going to pay lip service to the mission statement at Georgia Tech,” he said. “When they tell you there’s an academic side to the deal, there is really an academic piece to this that’s not just something they say. You’ve got to understand that it is a unique situation.”

Geoff Collins was named Georgia Tech’s head football coach, the school announced Friday morning.

Collins has been the Temple head coach for the past two seasons, leading the Owls to seasons of 7-6 and 8-4. Before that, he was defensive coordinator at Florida (2015-16) and Mississippi State (2013-14). Collins left Mississippi State after the 2014 season and before the Bulldogs played against Tech in the Orange Bowl that season.
