Listen up maggots! And that's an order!
@Kenn Rashad so right now 4/10 SWAC schools are looking for a new HC right? I've never seen this much turnover in one offseason.

Sources: Connell Maynor out at Hampton
by Steven J. Gaither November 20, 2017
It looks like Hampton will be changing more than conferences.
Connell Maynor will not return to Hampton as its head football coach, sources tell HBCU Gameday. Hampton went 6-5 this season, losing three MEAC games in a row after a 4-0 start before losing three of its last four. HBCU Gameday has reached out to Hampton officials and is awaiting a response.
Actually that's what several Hampton alum are saying. They're saying that this is actually more of a blessing for him then anything else.
All seem to agree on the same theme of it being a culture clash. Gomer vs The Whine & Cheese crowd
New choices to fill positions will be interesting.
When did Coleman get canned? He'd be a good fit for AAMU.:snicker:
His personality is very confident, very JSUish. He never fit the Hampton mold in my opinion!
I think Valley will go two ways:
1) Go the high school route and hire a successful coach in the area (Greenwood, Simmons (who haven't lost in 2 years), South Delta, etc.) who will recruit Mississippi first (only 13 players from MS on the roster)
2) Lure Sam Washington away from NCAT

We want nothing JSU-like. We will break the mold and move on from the usual merry-go-round.
Yeah he'd win like JSU coaches have in the last five years.......When did Coleman get canned? He'd be a good fit for AAMU.:snicker:
I believe its fair to say that Coach Comegy is a pretty good coach. Looking at the losses over his career 30% of them were at MVSU in just 4 years. You can lure a great coach but unless that coach is at most slightly below the same playing field as other coaches it just will not work. The bottom line for all HBCUs is resources. In the 662 mentioned about MVSU only having 13 players from MS. There are probably 15 - 16 programs in that state with teams above the HS level. The state cannot populate enough good players to go around.Rick Comegy is a well respected "morning after" recruiter in the FCS world. I thought he would at least get Valley to the status of winning 5-7 games after 3 years of recruiting. I was shocked at some of the kids who he was able to bring to Valley in those 3 years. However, he just couldn't win. What's next for Delta Devils? I think they need to tap into the top coaches (black or white) in the division II or III world. Being in Mississippi, they might even find one of those winning JUCO guys to take the challenge. I don't see any division I coordinator taking that gig. Maybe someone from Rod Broadway's staff might be feeling lucky after they win the HBCU National Championship this year. Who knows.
2) Lure Sam Washington away from NCAT
Sam Washington has been passed over by Valley at least twice..........so it might be a tough sale to convince him to come especially if the salary isn't increased
to at least about 130K. Plus with this many openings (4 SWAC, 3 MEAC so far) he may get a look by some more schools.

Dude, yall lost to Hughes. In the worst season JSU was having since 1877. Shut up and sit down!Yep. We could beat JSU with Coleman.. or anybody. The problem is we want to beat somebody else also.
You only have ONE route to go. Increase scholarship money and increase budget to hire a full coaching staff. A new coach wont make a difference. Comegy, one of the best to ever coach HBCUs just proved that.
