Schools on this level pay their head coaches alone 3 time's what we pay our ENTIRE COACHING STAFF'S in bonuses.

Pay the players something for providing all of this.:smash:
Can't see how people can't say this is not exploiting athelete's.:smash:

Salary Database for Division 1-A

IOWA'S FERENTZ A $4M MAN

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz earns one of college football's highest annual salaries and, with extras, is in the middle of a particularly lucrative 13-month period:

Guaranteed compensation June 1, 2006-June 30, 2007:

Base salary: $1.44 million (includes shoe and apparel endorsements, compensation for working at a summer football camp, participating in radio and TV shows).

Recurring supplemental payments: $1.4 million (four payments of $350,000 annually, Sept. 2006-June 2007).

Longevity bonus: $400,000 (paid for remaining Iowa's coach as of June 1, 2006).

One-time payment: $1.4 million (paid on or before June 1, 2006 under contract amendment dated May 15, 2006).

Total: $4.64 million

Annual incentive bonuses that he could still achieve, based on Iowa's 6-5 record with one regular-season game remaining:

Participating in bowl game that pays $1 million or more to each school: $75,000.

Participating in bowl game that pays less than $1 million to each school: $25,000.

Participating in any bowl game also will result in a $180,000 increase in base salary on July 1, 2007 under a provision triggered if the team plays in a bowl game and has a federally computed graduation rate of 55% or higher; its rate this year is 56%.

This is the third and final year in which Ferentz can earn the guaranteed annual salary increase for himself (he added $100,000 after the 2004 season and $140,000 after 2005). But his contract, which runs through June 2012, provides an average salary increase of 8% for his nine assistant coaches, head strength coach and top assistant strength coach when Iowa hits the bowl-grad rate combination.

Some of these cats make more than our entire football budget. The sunbelt and conference usa would be the only conf we can join and we would have to do major campaings to get the money needed to compete.

Frat, I have been trying to tell folks we aint ready for that kind of Big time. That's why the Big 10, SEC, Big 12, PAC10,ACC and maybe the Big East are the major conferences in 1A. Look at what Iowa is paying Ferentz. What do you think the perks are for coaching Ohio State and Michigan.....or what Mack Brown gets at Texas. They all make big arse dough. Not to mention they all have state of the art facilities. At Ohio State their student athletic facilities for intramural sports and exercise are state of the art.

The bottom line is those schools have a bunch of rich arse boosters and alums not to mention their everyday alums give what they can. Then you throw in the sponsors like Nike and such. Aint like the white man's ice is colder, it just sits in a platinum bucket......... and they have more ice than we do.:shame:

AAAAAAA-MEN!!

That's why I rarely post on a "Move up to 1-A" thread.
People think because you have good attendance and a Football stadium, you ready.

An't nare one of us no where near ready to even TRY and compete on that level.:shame:
Why move up just to say your 1-A.:shame:

That platinum bucket is going to continue to get bigger for these guy's.

MAn I'm sure glad someone has finally broke it down for these "we ready for D-1 cats". Thank you very muuuuuuuch!!!!!!!!!!!!

But anyway, that's why the BIG 10,ACC,SEC,PAC10 will always be number UNTIL YOUNG BLACK ATHLETES REALIZE THAT HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE STATUS QUO. Ok I ain't gonna start, because we have a big debate about this right now over in ROUND TABLE. Anyway it's a CATCH22 for us small fry. We were on our way though with BET and MBC.

We not gonna make it there with ESPN and CSTV.

You ain't telling a lie.

Except for a couple of teams, we would be struggling to bring our top shat up to their bottom.:shame:

I understood before but now I understand completely how a school like Oklahoma St. needed that $165 million private donation JUST FOR SPORTS to bring their shat up to a competetive level in the Big 12.

It ain't like they were broke to begin with................That's the sad past from our view.:shame:

$165 MILLION Man that's more than the annual budget for Little Rock!

$165 MILLION Man that's more than the annual budget for Little Rock!

Yep.

A OK. State grad that made a furtune in the Insurance business, (I think), made that donation to be used for sports only...............Period.

He had been making big donations to Oklahoma State itself, academic/research, but he said he was tired of seeing his sports teams suffer by Big 12 standards.

They had the same budget as Ms. State....................$25 million which is the smallest in the SEC and Big 12.

He said he wondered why a donation like this has never been done at any school with a sum this big.
And oh yes....................He gave them a airplane for recruiting also.

Man....................To say "we" ain't ready is an understatement.

$165 MILLION Man that's more than the annual budget for Little Rock!

Not only the amount but the administrators are actually going to use the money to improve the athletic dept. Not take it home. Think of what would happen if a SWAC school got their hands on this type of money.

Yep. There will be compliance officers, ADs, student workers, etc... riding around in Lexus, living in 6-7 bedroom mansions, eating vienna sausages on sterling silver platters and such.

I-AA his here to stay and we need to look into making it to the top of that before we move up. Put our money where our mouth is and put money into the product on the field. Pressure the admin to think outside of the box. Better marketing, better season ticket packages throw baseball and some other sports in the deal. Local jackson business should jump at the chance to support JSU becasue it helps the city. That southern game alone is like a classic. Sold out hotels, restaurants, the malls are packed and the Grocery stores are full with tailgaters. We have to do more for ourselves. Why can't we field a qaulity team every year and be proud of it. Look at Memphis they pay their coach almost a million dollars and have worse facilities than JSU yet they get good recruites and they market the hell out of the team in the Memphis area. Now we still beat them in attendacne but I bet we don't sale as much merchandise as Memphis and they get donations from Big Alumni.

The Presidents have to be on board and Campain just as hard for atletics as they do academics. It helps the entire school.

What the heck you think those coaches and AD's at the PWCs are doing.:lecture:

They're not eating vienna sausages. But honestly, alot of these guys are making their salaries with perks. Look at Bobby Bowen. His money is made off T.V. deals (his own show) and other perks. He doesnt need to swindle the cash. It's laid at his feet.

All black people don't steal and some of the PWC administrators are stealing just as the black one's would. Just like congress and the senate. oh we are so spirital, conservative, and tight with spending. yeah right, gay, devils who spend way more money than the Democrats could have ever imagined.

Same at the pWC's they stealing too they're just eating Bratts ans potted meat.

And that was the thing I pointed out when I posted this thread.

We here "bragging" about paying our head coach $150,000 to $200,000 and these guys make more than our Head Coaches and assistant coaches salaries combined through PERKS and bonuses.

Forget the flat salary they make.
You got coaches on that list that will get bonuses of $200,000 to $1 million just to make a bowl game.:slap:

They don't need to steal.......they are already getting paid.............the coaches have their own TV shows, Endorsements and such............

Also when one of their boosters put up money for something....the PWCs make sure it used for that or else they will feel the wrath. Unlike us who have not figured out to make our schools accountable. Them white folks don't play about their money. So if it was given to build a football facility, then that's what happens.

Precisely!

I agree that all black folks do not steal........but our adminstrations at our schools are too involved in what goes on in the sports stuff. That is the ADs job. At the big schools, their ADs run the athletic programs. They and the coaches do all the hustling of alums and boosters for money for facilities and things. You don't have athletic money that is raised swiped from the sports programs to pay for some other or mysteriously disappear. If that happens then those alums and boosters make people disappear from being in whatever position they hold on campus. We don't hold anybody accountable.

There are several levels of college football within I-A and I-AA. None of the Sun Belt teams are anywhere close to having the money and resources that the BCS conferences have. And they NEVER will. The ENTIRE Sun Belt isn't ready for I-A. But they saw the handwriting on the wall. The only way they can make significant money is to play the big boys in money games and hope to go to the "Whotheheckcares.com Bowl" Right now I just want us to be competitive against other I-AA conferences. I think that is what sparks the let's jump to I-A talk. It is frustration because our school presidents aren't doing what it takes to make this happen so fans of some SWAC schools want to jump ship because they know we have to build our programs together or fall FAR behind not only I-A teams but I-AA programs.

You are so correct. As for facilities look at the Calloway Student Athletic Center, even before the upgrades for the '96 Olympics, (for non-athletes) at Georgia Tech and the Student Rec Center at Texas A&M.

They have a lot more ice than we do.
