Does anyone know the attendance of the Circle City Classic this past weekend? And from the people who attended, which team appeared to have more fans, Southern or AAMU?

it was 47,000 something... and AAMU easily outnumbered SU fans... SU barely had anyone there.

Actually, most of the folks were local.

A&M might have had more folks traveling to the game. I sat on both sides during some portions of the game. There did appear to be less empty seats on the home side which was A&M's. But given the number of folks who began to leave just after Halftime, most of whom had nothing on to indicate who they were pulling for, I believe that they were local.

Regards.

I was at the game, and from what I saw, the numbers were pretty equal between the schools, but as Dr. Mac eluded to, the majority of the fans there were local.

I was at the game and AAMU had better representation. I agree, most of the fans were probably locals.

The band and thousands of SU fans were stranded in Louisiana on Friday as heavy rain and winds from Hurricane Lili wreaked havoc on travel plans.

Dont SU have alumni chapters in places other than Louisiana... when I say there were harldy any SU fans... I am serious.

Yes we do and thats who was at the game. Our Chicago, Indiana, Detroit and other midwest chapters were there. The storm cancelled tons of bus trips and ruined the weekend of folks that had planned on attending from Louisiana.

FYI: To tell the truth

IT WAS NOT RAINING IN BATON ROUGE ON FRIDAY. Thursday, yes. Friday, no.

Oh, okay a tree falls on your house or your power is out and you still decide to go to Indy for a freakin football game. You are crazy....over 250,000 people were without power (some still are) or water, and many had damage to homes. The game suddenly became not so important. Those buses dont come from Baton Rouge alone. Many cities and towns in south Louisiana including, among others, Lafayette, Opelousas, Jeanerette, New Iberia, St. Martinville and Breaux Bridge all have Jaguar fans that attend these games. They were the hardest it by the hurricane.

Jagster, sweetie, I am not trying to talk smack, just simply stating what I know. The number you quoted, the over 250,000, is the number of people that it was estimated statewide that were without electricity, not just in Baton Rouge. The numbers were greatest in the Lafayette, New Iberia area. Being honest and facing the facts is a wonderful thing to practice doing. If you want to look at the whole state, cool. Let's examine it. The State of LA employs more people in the state than anyone other employer. On Wednesday, state agencies in all areas of the state shut down and gave their employees Thursday off. If it was a state agency's pay week, they even gave out checks on Wednesday, instead of waiting until Friday. I'm sure you know SU gave their students and faculty the rest of the week off. Only the staff had to report on Friday. Most folks, I know that had made plans to go to Indy via car, took advantage of the time off and left for Indy before the storm hit. Those that had air travel plans were able to fly out Thursday evening and all day Friday and Saturday. I'm definitely not going to believe that everyone that was scheduled to ride a bus had a tree fall on their house.

The ovewhelming majority of SU's "nation" just simply never even had plans to go because they are disappointed in the team and Petey. The car flags aren't even as prevalent as when you had winning seasons. I wish you were having a better season, so I can look forward to a good game of football come Bayou Classic.

Again, I am not trying to talk smack and will not go back and forth about it. I'm just telling it like it is in my opinion that is drawn from my conclusions of my observations. I really dislike excuses. Y'all can carry on with the weather excuses. Some people will actually believe anything.

CASE CLOSED. MANY THINGS ARE BEING EXPOSED IN 2002.

Dippin in........

Question:

Well if everything was so hunky dory in BR on Friday, why was the band unable to leave (on a flight) until Saturday and had to miss the parade and why the the SU students (SGA) I believe have to catch a flight out on Friday.....from Jackson, MS????

Just asking....ain't trying to get in ya'll's business.

As you can see some people have not grown up. Hopefully they are still matriculating and will not be stagnant in their intellect.
The very idea of questioning someones traveling plans in light of this tradgedy is pure buffoonery. That is for the nation being "exposed" that is pure stupidity. Your SUperior is only one complete season removed from being the attendance leader in 1-AA. According to a recent assessment S.U. has the best of athletic programs among all black colleges and many PWC. Only 3 HBCU'S made the list. Some hate exemplified towards S.U. is bordering mental illness.

Bengal E, you're correct. The Jukebox didn't march in the parade, because they didn't arrive until Saturday morning.

Also, there were a lot of hotel vacancies that became available Friday, because of cancellations due to travel, I know this to be fact, because I had to change my plans at the last minute, and a lot of places that weren't available Wednesday, & Thursday, suddenly became available on Friday . There were a few people in the airport Friday from SU who said they had to make alternate travel plans because of their flights being cancelled out of BR.

There was a guy who told me he almost missed the game because his flight out of BR wasn't available, and that the only way he could go, was to be rerouted out of New Orleans, or Houston.

Now I'm not disputing the fact that some people changed their minds because of the horrid play of SU this year, but there were quite a few that couldn't leave because of the weather related issues that occured during the week.
