Christian Rappers

I know I may be a little late in this discussion, but you guys need to listen to Elder G. Craig Davis of EXministries. I had some of the same philosophies and thoughts as some of you, but this cat brings the Truth to the forefront. If you understand the position and talent of Lucifer, then what he says makes perfect sense. Take a look at his DVD. I'm still reeling....

For instance, I never thought about the song "The Greatest Love of All". Everybody and everybody's kid sang that song at one time or another and the last line "...learning to love one's self is the greatest love of all"...

Now John 15:13 says "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

A simple perversion...or is it? Listen to his message and then you decide.

Be Blessed

Cross Movement, Lil Rascal and NuWine were always good. At PV, my frat GPhiD, stepped to some of that music at homecoming stepshow. The Crowd / Judges liked it.

NuWine came and did a concert at PV while I was there but now he does secular rap and calls himself Wine-No

I have listen to a few, most of them are awful. Yeah, but the Christian rappers are still worse.
Remember this about music. Most artist are not trying to be the best rappers or the best singers out there. They're trying to be the best SELLING rappers or singers out there. If you're more lyrically skilled than me, who cares, as long I still sell more records than you...... I win. This happens everyday, especially in rap. There are rappers who rap better than Vanilla Ice & Hammer. But they outsold most of them 10:1 so they still win. Money is the motive.

Regarding christian rap. The motive is souls. The mere fact that they're talking about Jesus gives their raps more substance than JayZ or 50 Cent will ever have talking about clubs. Long story short, the good thing about christian rap is if nobody in the crowd stands up and claps for the "less talented" christian rap music, God will still stand up and clap for it. If everybody stands up and claps for JayZ, you can bet that God will still be sitting down.

That's what I like about Christian Rap. Maybe not the best lyrically skills, but the only lyrics that have eternal substance.

I was working out and saw some video of Christian Rappers. Would any of you allow them to perform in your church, or is it too extreme just yet?

In all seriousness it's about time that theres an alternative to all of these explicit raunchy lyrics that are out there right now. I love that fact that there are artist like I Rock he's about 16, 17 and he sold out for CHRIST, and Canton Jones. After my pastor meets them and discerns their motivations for what thier doing he wouldn't have a problem allowing them to perform.

There is nothing wrong with Christian rap. I have heard some. If it was up to me I would not allow it during church service. Everything is not proper for a worship service. But listening to the music in general is kind of refreshing. If you can glorify crime and violence you can uplift the name of God. People my age may not prefer it, but our kids will enjoy it. I rather have my kids humming praises than humming about the chronic.
