Charlie Batch: This is Unbelievable to Me.

Are you telling me Detriot let Batch go? :smh: So where did the Tampa QB go? What about Brooks who was in N.O.? Ya boy McNair better win a championship real quick as much as he gets hurt, or I'm afraid he's gonezo. :dead:

Well McNair don't have nothing to worry about. He took his team to the SB and almost pulled it off and he carried the Titans last year with his best year in the NFL. Plus he just signed a big time contract extention last year. So he's safe.

Charlie Batch is just too fragile. He kept getting hurt. Plus the new regime in Detroit was not enamored with him when they got there last year. So he was doomed once Matt Millen and Mohrnigweg got there. Then he gets yanked early in the season after his team stinks it up and I was like damn. He looked pretty decent last night, but if I was Pittsburgh I would probably cut him in favor of T. Martin because he is younger and I would rather have Martin to groom in the #3 spot. Maddox has number 2 sewn up. Actually Kordell better watch his back. Charlie doesn't deserve to have to be somebody's 3rd string QB. But no one besides Pittsburgh wanted him. So he may be stuck out.

As far as Brooks at NO is concerned, the Saints are just being cheap azzes. I aint surprised. Typical of that organization to be stupid. Shaun King is still in Tampa fighting for a roster spot. I think Dungy kind of gave up on him too soon, but he is still young enough to bounce back. Gruden will go with whoever can fit the West Coast System the best. Brad Johnson and Rob Johnson both are not that great in my book. So King may still have a shot. Joe Hamilton is probably the odd man out in Tampa.

I am still encouraged by seeing more Black Qbs in the league. I mean some teams just aint going to ever want to play one. But the chances are better now than they have ever been. Look at the Woodbury kid for the Jets last night from Winston-Salem. He will make the Jets team as a 3rd string Qb. I mean that's saying alot. With the kid from Marshall coming out this year and possibly some other kids, the NFL will soon be owned by the Black Qb. Even Jacksonville has Quinn Gray of FAMU and Rod Robinson of UAPB in camp. So things are better. At least they get a shot now. Politics are still a mofo with some organizations though.

The Texans had an interest in Charlie Batch but he knew what the deal was. They only wanted him to hold things together until they were ready to hand over the reigns to David Carr. Their was no future here for him. Kent Graham took the job and now he's running 3rd string!

How does Rod Robinson go pro and Darnell doesn't? Darnell put up staffs 3 times as great as this kid. It's hard enough making it to the Pros being a Black QB but it's even harder making it when he's just 2 inches shorter than the average QB

Earth to JR ,

Does the name Trent Dilfer mean anything to you? Well, in case you missed it, he took his team to the SB . . . . AND WON IT ! ! ! A few months later he was gone.

And he's a WHITE BOY ! ! !

What makes you think the Titans are gonna be so patient with McNair? I'm a big fan of McNair's, but I would not be totally shocked if the Titans didn't make a move if he had a sub-par season.

He may have signed a big contract, but so did Drew Bledsoe just before he was shipped off to the great northwest.

If you ask me, McNair needs to watch his back.

A few items in response..

Charlie Batch is just too fragile.
Your right, he did stay hurt quite a bit and the new regeme plus the hot-shot draft pick they got this year. They were simply going in a different direction.

Actually Kordell better watch his back.
 yeah,,, veeeery good observation here. you could just tell how the commentators were pumpin' up Maddox what the undercurrent is in Pittsburg. I think Cordell may be playing tight this year looking over his shoulder and if he goes down, Maddox could sieze the moment. As for black QBs, we need another brake-through performance nothing short of a superbowl win to further chip away at the resistance. I'm interestested to see if that big kid at Marshal becomes a major QB prospect.

How does Rod Robinson go pro and Darnell doesn't?
I think Darnell is going to have to "work his way up through the ranks". Arena League Football at the least and either NFL Europe or maybe Canada. Nobody is going to take a chance on him because of his size; nobody took a chance on Doug Flutie either, but look what he did. I think Darnell's case is strictly a matter of his physical stats.

Does the name Trent Dilfer mean anything to you?
:scared: DOH!! ,,,,, is he in camp with Tennessee? I haven't heard this. I missed this.

I guess Batch just is not thier QB of the future, but I think Shawn King is getting a raw deal.

Shaun King is still in TB. It seems like when Tony Dungy left so did King's chances of being a starter go with him. King will probably be a 3rd string QB

Dude,
All - Qbs have to watch their backs in that case. Bledsoe got hurt and also had a coaching change with Bellichek coming over and he had no loyalty to him. Plus Brady got hot and won.
Mc Nair kicked azz last year, plus the Titans has sad azz give away the SB Neil O'Donnell as a back up. So I don't think Fisher is foolish enough to go that route. I would be worried if they drafted or traded for a QB. One thing about Steve is he has done everything that have asked him. If anyone will be in trouble if they have a sub par season will be Fisher and the OC. Titan fans and all of us have seen what McNair can do when unleashed.
So Fisher had to promise this season to continue that. We'll see. He is on the hot seat. Not Steve. One thing about Bud Adams the owner, he will not get rid of you when you just signed a big contract. He's too stingy for that. He let Moon play until his contract was almost over. Even though they kept losing in the playoffs.

The Dilfer comparison doesn't count either. Brian Billick never wanted Dilfer anyway. Plus the Ravens won in spite of Dilfer. He just didn't lose the game. Mc Nair wins games. Give him a "D" like Baltimore had and he would have won too. By at least 2-3 touchdowns.

When Baltimore won the Super Bowl, Tennessee had the number one defense. Though they dropped down last year it is not the defense that worries me in Nashville, it is the offensive philosophy as has been said. Number one: It limits McNair. Number two: It puts too much pressure on Eddie George. Hence, the injuries are starting to pile up on him.

Good Points EB. That's why Fisher has the pressure on him to continue to let Steve loose. He had no choice with Eddie getting hurt. The results were Steve having a career year. He did the same thing in the SB. Once he turned the game over to Steve in the second half and at the end of the game. He produced. The Titans are just so damn conservative. Imagine Steve in the Rams offense. Hopefully they will see the light this year. One game for sure that he will be unleashed will be against Houston. LOL. Bud going to tell Fisher to break the scoreboard on them. Fisher will be fired if he loses either game against the Texans. LOL

Speaking of the Titans, former Southern Lab running back John Simon is impressing the Titans with his running and pass catching ability. In a scrimmage against the Dolphins, he took a pass 58 yards for the score. This past Saturday, he rushed for 78 yards on 6 carries with a 1 yd td run. The td run followed a 57 yard dash to set up the score.

The Titan message board is lit up with fans talking about how impressive he is looking in camp. The fans just voted him, Titans Player of the Game. His chances are looking good because the Titans are not likely to keep Robert Holcombe and Skip Hicks to back up Eddie. John is less expensive and has shown he can make plays!
