Census Worker Found Hung, "Fed" Written on His Chest

The FBI is investigating the hanging death of Bill Sparkman, 51, a U.S. Census field worker who was found near a Kentucky cemetery. His body was found Sept. 12th, but what has raised the interest of the FBI is the word "fed" which was scrawled on Sparkman's chest.

It's this new information that has raised this case to a national level. Original reports of Sparkman's death did not note the "fed" scrawling. At this point, it is unclear if the death was a murder or a suicide. Given the "fed" note, one must wonder if indeed this was a murder if the motive was related to anti-government sentiment

gosh, who would have thought that all the violent anti-government rhetoric by the right lately would lead to something like this?

really, it's too early to pass judgment; they're not even sure it's not a suicide. but still, if it is what it looks like, that's pretty scary.

It's obvious that this was probably a murder - i don't *hope* anything about it, except that he didn't suffer (unlikely, unfortunately). according to the person who found him, the guy was tied up, blindfolded and gagged. it's a little hard to hang yourself when your hands are tied.

The question at this point is only why the murder took place. and i'm not sure why stating as fact that the guy committed suicide or accidentally killed himself in a humiliating way is less tasteless in your mind that stating that it was likely a murder, and may have been done by some kind of anti-government/anti-census nut.
