New weekly report will track the MEAC and SWAC championship races and the road to AtlantaNew Weekly Report Will Track the MEAC and SWAC Championship Races and Project Each Team’s Path to the Celebration Bowl

ATLANTA – OCT. 14, 2026 –A new weekly look at the HBCU football championship picture will debut next week with the launch of the Toyota Championship Projection. The inaugural report will be released Wednesday, Oct. 21, offering a data-driven look at which MEAC and SWAC teams have the strongest paths to their conference championships and, ultimately, the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.

The Toyota Championship Projection will look beyond the standings. It will consider current conference record, remaining conference schedule, opponent strength, computer ratings, game location, head-to-head results, divisional record and common-opponent performance. For the SWAC, the report will also account for the race to win the East and West Divisions, the path to the SWAC Championship Game and the impact of home-field advantage in the title game.

On the MEAC side, the focus will be on the race for the conference championship and the tiebreak scenarios that could determine the league’s Celebration Bowl representative.National computer ratings, HBCU-focused rankings and current team performance will help measure team strength, but the report will remain centered on one question: Which teams have the clearest path to a championship?

Florida A&M will continue to factor into conference schedules, standings and tiebreak scenarios, but the Rattlers are not eligible for postseason competition.

The Toyota Championship Projection will debut Wednesday, Oct. 21, and will be updated weekly throughout the remainder of the 2026 season.
