Case Study SWAC football vs fbs (SU vs utsa)

Hell. We can do one better. Go look at Alcorn’s out of conference schedules during the Hopson years

2012: at James Madison; at Arkansas State;
2013: Edward Waters; at Mississippi State
2014: Lynchburg-VA; Louisiana College
2015: at Georgia Tech; Concordia-Selma

So in that stretch, Alcorn played two Power 5 teams (Mississippi State and Georgia Tech); One Group of Five team (Arkansas State); one FCS team (James Madison) and the rest either Division III or Lower (Louisiana College, Edward Waters, Lynchburg-Va and Concordia-Selma)

Only games Alcorn won OOC was Edward Waters, Lynchburg-VA, Louisiana College and Concordia-Selma. You tell me if Saban with Alcorn could've won those other games ...
He wasn’t even competitive but we are supposed to believe he was some savior cause he won a championship. Please.

If, Coach Fobbs landed a heading coach job in The SEC. He would be in the top-four of the coaches in the conference.

He's better than Ed Orgeron, Dan Mullins, Muschamp, in my opinion. But, hey, some people feel that those white coaches have some magic in their pockets.

Hell. Chennis Berry runs a better offense at Southern hthan that mess at LSU

Saban ain’t THAT good
No coach is THAT good. Bighead says things before really thinking.
Bama's offensive playcalling is remedial at best.
Saban just has the luxury of recruiting the best five star players in the nation on a consistent basis.

Man yall so clueless saying Saban would be just like our coaches when right there in your very face Hopson came in and built sad ass Alcorn smh

Ppl just say and post anything just to be posting. Do we not understand what's going on around us

Hopson took sad ass Alcorn and ran the SWAC, But yall saying Saban couldn't do it because he doesn't have analysts nor the resource (vague ass word)

Man yall really are casual fans.

Hopson came to Alcorn and got them right on track but yet Saban who has won dayum near everywhere he's been at couldn't take a team in this pissy league and dominant.

I can't believe I've typed all this smh
So you're going to choose ONE white coach and make him the golden child for ANY white coach who coaches in HBCU football? Most white coaches aren't successful in the SWAC.
The man was better than most white coaches would be in the SWAC or else USM wouldn't have hired him, but I don't think he was better than Comegy, Fobbs, or other comparable Black coaches.
And wherever Saban's been, he's had much more support. Michigan State, LSU and Alabama have resources out of this world. Come on son.

Yeah, and Les Miles with his remedial offensive schemes even competed for a national title. Was it due to his coaching abilities? HELL naw!!
Dude had physical talent out of this world too.

Are yall really dissing what Hopson did at Alcorn?
Nobody's discounting what Hopson did, but folks are explaining that it wasn't the best that any coach has ever done in the SWAC.
Bighead's making like Hopson was the best coach in the SWAC of all time, and he wasn't.
He just came at the right time when certain teams were struggling.

What was Alcorn's record the 4 years before Hopson compared to the 4 years Hopson was HC?

Yup. That’s what we all been trying to tell ole boy.

Those creature comforts atop of the talent. They were in a meeting room that looked better than 95 percent of our academic lecture halls.

Oh, this is just you projecting JSU into another non-JSU discussion. Disregard.
No, I'm not disregarding. It's just factual though. When JSU has a decent team, it usually beats Alcorn. Even when JSU only won three games, one was against Alcorn.

Yes, when was the last time, you saw a white coach walk into a shytstorm?

Jimbo Fisher
Urban Meyer
Nick Saban

They didn't go coach anywhere...
They saw the places with the most resources.

Sylvester Croom got a real dumpster-dive with his hiring at Mississippi State. No white coach would touch that job. The program was left in shambles by Jackie Sherrill.

Nowhere did I say a coach's race makes him a better coach. I said OUR schools. Period. It's coaching. Period. Can we beat the Bamas? No. But comparable size schools or those just above us...yes we can. But coaches have to do it.

Alabama was a laughingstock before Saban.

Who do you think made the biggest impact at Alabama? Saban, or the players'? I haven't seen him make one tackle, catch, throw, or run. We'll see, how great a of coach , he is with one-star athletes.

You can have all the coaching in the world. If you don't have the talent, it's only so far, you will go.

+1.

Most thought PV on paper matched up w/ shsu. PV did not. shsu OL > PV OL. shsu DL > PV DL. shsu QB >>>>>>>>> PV QBs. shsu WRs > PV WRs. shsu LBs > PV LBs. However, PV coaching > shsu coaching.

Coach Simmons and staff did a bangup job w/ their gameplanning, considering they had a RB at QB, behind an overall physically WEAK OL holding on a TON of plays smh, w/ an alleged “star” WR who disappeared in big games, w/ no DL capable of exacting a rush by the front-4 singly, and were dealing w/ HIGHLY undisciplined student-athletes here and there hitting waaaaay after whistles and ridiculous remedial emotional taunting trying to makeup for a lack of physicality. Give coach Simmons and staff shsu talent and PV easily dominates.
