I just love how the entire conference hates Jackson State University. It's great to be a tiger !!!!! Jsu is like the United States and the other SWAC schools are like Russia ( Alabama State), Germany( pVAM), Great Britian (TXSU), Spain ( AA&M), Australia (Alcorn), Canada (UAPB), Italy (Grambling), France (MVSU), China (Southern U) . In the words of Doug Williams Grambling and JSU dnt rebuild, they reload!!! Grambling we will see yall on the visiting side of NRG stadium come December and look forward to buying you all a cocktail after the bell biv devoe concert.
The Bayou Classic will determine the West, and I do believe JSU will be a much improved team along with Alabama State, Mississippi Valley and AAMU. Jenkins lead BCU to a MEAC Championship in his first year, and Comegy is making great strides in recruiting in the delta. UAPB and PV will be better, but they won't catch Grambling and SU this year. Fobbs and Odums has shown their ability to coach against the odds, and both gained solid recruiting classes. Grambling, JSU, Alcorn, and SU will have the scariest offenses
Kaiss and Orlando pretty much ran the same system. It's funny how you want to make an excuse for JSU losing to us but try to build JSU up to be a contender because they beat Alcorn and GSU. Jackson has done nothing to prove that he can coach but you claim he'll win the East next year.
Fobbs turned around a dying program quick i see nothing but championships for the G-Men, it's inevitable. If he could do that so quickly in one season, just think what he and staff can do with 2 seasons under their belt.
That's funny cause before I joined the blog, I always respected your comments. They where based on knowledge and not just spectatorship. People see Jsu as a 70 year old man and that's what they dnt like. If we had a coach they approved of and he went 3-9 last year which is obviously worst than our 5-7 you wouldn't hear nothing but " it's the man first year, you got to give him time". So I'm glad Harold Jackson is staying focused on his team and he recruited what he needs. All we have to do is fill in the gaps from a 5-7 season and that's basically restructure the o line, run a 4 man front on defense, and now there's even competition at QB, and mabry at WR on the opposite side of Williams allows for two threats on both side. Along side the OC has a year under his belt at understandIng the players and conference. Overall I'm excited, especially with us playing middle Tennessee we actually have a chance to win or even keep it close. COMEGY would have only allowed Jsu fans an opportunity to go to munfurbonro Tennessee and boost there economy along with a blowout lost. And they talk about we got rid of a good coach. We Got rid of a man who just had God on his side because he couldnt coach worth a d***I like this dude already!

Wrong as usual. You guys got the ball down to the 1yd line and then called a timeout. You came out of the timeout and got a delay of game, which made it 4th and 6. Ivy is not a good QBThe JSU game came down to one thing, thru almost no fault of his own, Comegy left JSU with very few linemen. We lost TWO linemen in Montgomery. That is why we couldn't get the ball in at the one to take the lead. JSU could have won that game but we had no way to move the ball in the second half. We moved some d-linemen to the o-line after that, and the team got better every week. Too bad the season ran out.
Hmmmm, so y'all got beat on your HC by a guy that can't coach and a school that y'all had beaten 20 yrs straight? That's funny cause before I joined the blog, I always respected your comments. Sad, ain't it?Damn a Bromance....![]()
Sad, ain't it?
The West is gonna be bad again. Grambling should win it with ease. PV, TxSo, UAPB and SU will simply be bad teams so GSU will win by default.
In the EAST, Valley won't be schitt. They are Valley. AAMU has the wrong coach. After a down year for BOTH teams, the EAST will be a race among JSU and Alabama State as usual with Alcorn CERTAINLY in the mix. I look for Alcorn to try to embarrass Grambling next year on the Reservation. Now that was me talking about November/December. If I were to do pre-season rankings, I would put 1) Alcorn #2) JSU #3) BAMA State #4) AAMU #5) Valley. Alcorn is gonna whoop 7 teams in the SWAC but I don't see them beating JSU or BAMA State this year. Alcorn's defense is low-key suspect and they have lived off the offense. Now with the OC at PV, Alcorn will have to give due diligence to finding a good replacement.
..and yeah, JSU is kickin azz this year. Not counting Lynchburg, we could gone anywhere from 0-11 to 7-4 last year and we got a few balls to bounce our way and we got closer to the 7 than we got to the 0. I think the Old Man is going to pull of 8-9 wins this year with key games coming vs TNState, Grambling, SU, and Alcorn. SU will suck but they have a way of beating us when they suck.
I think people are mis interpreting what I'm saying. I never said the games we lost we should have won. I brought those games up just acknowledging that Jsu did decent for the coaches first year (5-7). People on here keep replying like I said Jsu should have won the ones they loss. No !!!! A lost is a lost, but it's how the team lost. For ex Alcorn lost to USM but it was close, so one could say Alcorn lost but look at how alcorn lost. That's all i was saying was how the team did show some competition and some overall improvement throughout season. That's all I'm saying for the ones who act like Jsu was the worst school to field a team last year.In the mix
in the mix?? If anything it should be Jackson state trying to get in the mix..But I understand your logic you guys lost games you should have won, but I mean if you gone say that, then Alcorn should have went undefeated last year..All our losses were close
OK, I get you, ...Like I said JSU will have a better record nxt season, and should be in the mix in the end.. Y'alls passing game should be goodI think people are mis interpreting what I'm saying. Those are "homer" picks. This is what you're looking at in 2015:
West
1) Southern U.
2) Grambling State
3) Prairie View
4) Texas Southern
5) Arkansas Pine
East
1) Alcorn State
2) Alabama State
3) AAMU
4) Mississippi Valley State
5) Jackson State
West
1) Prairie View
2) Who cares
3) Could care less
4) Doesn't matter
5) So what
Hmmmm, so y'all got beat on your HC by a guy that can't coach and a school that y'all had beaten 20 yrs straight?
Will PV have a defense. I don't really understand the hiring of Simmons. You could have just promoted the OC. You all needed defense.
The hiring of Simmons' and his staff got us everything we needed this recruiting period, and they're not finished either. 2 JUCO All-Conference SS/FS's, a transfer LB from UAB and beefed up defensive line recruits who will make an immediate impact. One JUCO All-American TE to go along with Shaq Roland's arrival. Smiley returns at QB after splitting duties with Lovelocke in 2013. If you only knew what the coaching staff did in only 4 weeks of recruiting you'd be amazed.
No need to talk about it. Everyone will be on notice by the end of September.
