Can married men be friends with single ladies?

from my experiences where I'm at....a married man is more of a threat than a single man because they feel they have nothing to lose...they'll flirt like nothing...

If a married man is flirting with single women, he is lighting a match to the dynamite......

What's their input on this hea situation?

LOL @ Vinita. I agree 100% with Buckwheat. You have to put a limit on how much interaction you have with them out of respect for your marriage. That has always been a touchy situation when men and women are friends like that. I also believe even the fellas or the sisters have to also do the same when their same sex friends get married. I have seen some bros get in trouble because they still want to have their boys around like they are still single. So like Warndalyn said........things change when you get married. You can't do the same things you did as a single person.

you can't drop your boys due to marriage...if I put in 10 years with them they ain't going anywhere just because of a woman...now we may limit our actitivites but can't put them to the side so fast...

however....like I said earlier, married men have better time than single men...they take more risks.....and the bad part single women knowingly let them take it as long they are getting something in return..

wish someone did a survey....what is the percentage of married men/single men in strip club attendance?

All of this... it's really a question of sexuality
morality, & individual belief systems.

Do you wanna fugg more people than me?
Will you fugg more people than me?
Will I still stay with you it you fugg more people than me?

Answer those questions & you got your answer.

very good post, buckwheat...and that's how it should be. Once you're married, you can NOT do things the same way you did them, when you were single. Of course men and women can be friends, but if one of them is married, then there is a certain amount of restaint and respect that is expected.

You shouldn't allow someone to bring drama in your home/marriage...so handle your friends accordingly. Your friend should never come before your spouse. It's called common sense...use it!

Some men feel like they are giving up their boys "just for her"...who is she? She just came on the block. They been on the block for 10 years!

Good point. May I add, "Your mama, daddy, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, cousin, soror, bruh, team mate, child, job, church, extra curricular activities, etc. should never come before your spouse. Next to money, not nipping that mess in the bud causes alot of marital problems. Common sense AIN'T common anymore... :shades:

Now this is an area that I see causing more problems than having long term friends of the opposite sex. Most of your true opposite sex friends will advise you to do right by your spouse. The same can not always be said for your single same sex friends. They are, more times than not, the reason you are in the dog house in the first place.

I agree.

If there was a choice between my spouse & my mother - my spouse would ALWAYS come first - unless they willingly conceded for me to put my mom first - in a specific situation. Some people don't understand boundaries nor BALANCE. I know of a marriage breaking up right now because one party is 100% faithful (financially, timewise etc.) to the parent to the detriment of the spouse, but can't see it.
Matthew 19:5 - And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

I agree...peer pressure or "show her who wears the pants" cockiness.

What if it is to the detriment of the relationship with the mother?

Hmmm, that's tough, but having lived.... I think I'd rather obey God and leave the consequences up to Him. I'd be very gentle in explaining my stand to my mom if I were not able to put her first. If the mother's mature, she should understand and not try & come between the couple......operative words = IF & MATURE.

That would be a tough decision to make but I would have to put my wife first. You would hope that your mom would understand your responsibility.

So which one should we obey? "Honor thy father and mother"? or the one about spouses? Are there circumstances where one could trump the other regardless of marital status?

When I say detriment...I mean in terms of the spouse trying to prevent you from talking to or seeing your mother on a regular basis. Serious situations.

If your mamma is sick, both of you should be there to take care of her and help her get on HER FEET. Once she's up, she has to stand on her own. Now if she is long term sick...or otherwise CAN NOT help herself, that's different.

Otherwise, CUT the apron strings. You're not a baby boy anymore. You're a man, a grown man.

Fortitude: Thanks for turning that light on! :wavey:

Now ,I wouldn't let it get that far! As the man of the house and of the marriage, I would have to talk to my wife about the issue.

Any woman with sense will be helping you to help the ailling mother. However, when she is not ailing anymore....

To me, it is the HONORABLE thing to do.

 Another one of those good pre-marital topics.
