I know Hughes was a complete moron but I doubt his actually gameplan would have been to just punt the ball to the other team and try to force turnovers on defense. This was the same guy who figured he didn't need a special teams in 2001 but he is not that stupid. I know that is probably just your idea of smack LP, but you really make your program look silly when you say stuff like that.

I don't think he ever looked at it that way BT. It's been said in so many ways on this board and yet they consistently want to say that they dominated us. I've even posted the stats where they claimed that they ran all over us. It didn't help them at all. They just act like I didn't post them and continued to spew out all this garbage.

Only blemish on that game that I can agree with them on is that we punted the ball instead of going for the 1st down. Even Coach Jones said that it was his mistake. They won't have that luxury this year. Especially with how they are trying to cover up their WR moving to Cornerback to help that pathetic defense out.

Alabama A&M completed two-a-days with a pair of its most spirited practices of the preseason, coach Anthony Jones said following Monday's workouts.


More than 30 newcomers missed the morning session while participating in freshman orientation, but Jones said that didn't dampen the team's enthusiasm. There was more of the same in the afternoon session that lasted almost three hours.

"I liked our level of intensity," Jones said. "It was the kind of tempo that championship teams practice. If we continue to practice that way, we'll have a chance to have a good year."

James able to practice: Freshman fullback Benjamin James, who had been held out of practice pending eligibility questions, was cleared and practiced for the first time Monday afternoon.

A 5-foot-10, 230-pounder, James will give the Bulldogs needed depth.

"He's behind and he's got a lot of catching up to do," Jones said. "How fast he catches up will determine what he can do. He does give us another big body in backfield. We'll evaluate him the next few days and see how he does."

While James was declared eligible, quarterback Robert Spence and wide receiver Joktan Roberts weren't as fortunate.

Spence, who had been practicing, was taken off the field on Monday, while Roberts never practiced.

Injury update: Three defensive starters and a key reserve missed practice Monday afternoon.

Both of A&M's starting inside linebackers, Lionel Macklin and Johnny Baldwin, were out, along with cornerback Henry Freeman and backup defensive end Lieutenant Dukes.

Macklin was held out due to problems with the heat, while Baldwin is recovering from an injury to his right ankle suffered in Saturday's scrimmage. Baldwin wore a boot around the ankle and will miss the next few days of practice but is expected to be ready for the season opener against Jacksonville State on Aug. 30.

Freeman had a doctor's appointment, while Dukes has a groin injury.

Cylar's feet first: Jones said Rashad Cylar will again serve as the Bulldogs' punter and place-kicker.

Cylar, a second-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference performer a year ago, was fourth in the league in punting, averaging 38.4 yards per kick. He also led the league with 27 punts inside the 20-yard line. Cylar made of 16-of-23 extra points and 7-of-14 field goals.

"He's beeen the most consistent," Jones said, "and the fact he has some experience, that's only going to help him."

Chris Carbo is the backup place-kicker, while Jose Osorio is the backup punter.

We all know you really arent interested in what happened.
What TP said was closer to the truth. That game wasnt
as close as the score indicates. A&M was smothered that
whole game....couldnt move the ball....had about 20 yards
passing excluding a hail mary pass...got pushed around...
their pride and joy(Mathis) spent the whole game on
his back thanks to a freshman named Albert Stinson.
They were 0-11 on 3rd down...JSU made that offense
look as bad as it was. They never ever got in scoring
position....not even close....even PV scored on us.

They got a bad call which resulted in a fumble recovery
on our 15 yard line. They kicked a field goal from the 13.
Its true....it is true....we made them look terrible on
offense and defense. It amazes me how a team that cant
stop the run can claim to be so good defensively.

We were not content to punt the ball, but we knew we didnt
have to take chances once we got the lead. So we just ran
the ball down their throats. The TDs that were called back
made the score closer than that game really was. I dont know
why Tarnaka Counslor didnt make it to the NFL off that game
alone.

Mike says we are sending WR to be corner backs cause our
defense is pathetic. But he didnt tell you that they had a
total of about 20 yards passing in the 4th quarter til their
QB closed his eyes and hurled the ball up for a 40 yard
completion. This was a match between 2 schools on 2 different
levels. Its going to be worse this year.

Bruh, we did not have to score. We had 300 yards of total offense and we knew that if we gave you the ball that you could do nothing with it. Hughes seemed to actually coach that game. It was a sorry gameplan but what do you expect from Hughes. JSU also did that to AAMU in 1999. We punted the ball to you knowing that we would get it right back. Next drive, we scored. Any team that plays AAMU should know that the best way to beat them is to let them beat themselves. Give them the ball. LOL
 
BT, AAMU had been beating people off of offensive mistakes all season. They had 11 points on us and it took them about 15 yards to get all of those points. So once we kept them on their side of the field and we got the lead, the last thing we wanted was for them to get a fumble return or int return for a TD. Our FANS were even saying "PUNT THE BALL"!! That is just how sorry that offense was. The closest their offense got to the endzone ALL DAY was on that hail Mary (to the 30)and I already told that that three plays later they were back at the 50 and out of field goal range. That is the closet they got to even field goal range was the 30. Without that Hail Mary pass, they would have had about 120 yards of total offense.

See fumbles and dropped-passes for only 13 points being scored. That's the reason for the "basic" drill during spring drills. Bell saw the team last year ....... cut out the turnovers and nobody can touch us.

Dominating on both sides of the ball, making the other teams offense/defense look terrible, and supposedly running up and down the field on somebody does NOT equate to 13-11, bruh....just accept it. :D

I dont care who the coach was... if Mathis had hit ANY qb as hard as he hit Kent on that damn play they would have fumbled also.... That one play had to be the SWAC defensive play of the year...

Mathis got a sack,a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and a touchdown all on one play.

ok... u may be right.. I can admit when I am wrong (wasnt done on porpose) but anyway you cant say that wasnt a excellent play.
