Salah Yousif is working his magic again.

Yousif, Alabama A&M's on again, off again men's soccer coach, has the Bulldogs off to one of their better starts in recent years.

A&M, ranked 10th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Southeast poll, won its third straight game in as many tries Tuesday night with a Alabama A&M notebook

3-0 road win over Vanderbilt.

The Bulldogs, who beat IUPUI 4-0 on Friday and IUPU-Fort Wayne 5-4 in double overtime on Sunday, have outscored their opponents 12-4.

''We've gotten off to a good start,'' Yousif said after the win over Vanderbilt. ''The guys have worked extremely hard and I'm just happy that their hard work is being rewarded.''

In the win over the Commodores, A&M scored its first goal after the ball bounced off a Vanderbilt defender and went into the net. A&M stretched the lead to 2-0 in the second half when Eugene Supuya scored off a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

The Bulldogs sealed the win when Sepuya broke free and scored just past Vandy goalie Matt Gotterer.

A&M has gotten contributions from a number of players, most notably forward Abdou Manneh, who has three of the Bulldogs' 11 goals on the season.

Its a shame we cant dominate the SWAC cuz no other schools have soccer programs:rolleyes:  :D .......oh well we'll just dominate the PWC's..........

Aye Tru!

Their budgets don't aren't big enough to field teams in every sport! I'm hearing that the Swim Team may be re-started! That's another Championship, if so!

Come on Frat, you don't believe that yourself. At least I can speak for SU, we can afford to fund all our programs. Nobody took an interest in Soccer in the SWAC before all this Title IX stuff came about to start having all these sports that most black folk can give a rats azz about. So sure you guys are ahead of the ball game in Soccer. But just remember where the Commish's Trophy resides.:D Going to take winning more than Soccer and Volleyball. BTW if the rest of the SWAC does not have soccer, what conference does you team play for? Or are you an indepedent? You know like ND being that way in Football , but in the Big East for basketball. Just curious.

JR!

We were independent when we won the National Championship in Soccer.... There is no Classification for that sport like in football, so we play all the Big schools that have teams.

GOOD LUCK with your season - please keep us posted. Do you have the link for the schedule - if so please post.

Soccer is considered the real fuseball (football) game. Soccer is played all over the world and is the only world championship sport.

Don't mentioned anything about power rating. We met all the requirements and even ESPN wanted to know why we didn't get an invitation to the Big dance last season.

Anyway they kept us on probation for over ten years. The American Colleges and Universities are still scare of AAMU Soccer Program.

check the front page to see another SWAC school with a soccer program.

AAMU will win the SWAC in soccer for 3 years at least. It will take a long time for other teams to catch up. I was skaing my head the other day when I saw us play.

I honestly doubt that another SWAC soccer team will EVER beat AAMU. They will be too far behind. As of two weeks ago AAMU was ranked #32 in the nation in soccer (keep in mind this is D1) Former African players who have moved back to Africa, recruit for AAMU and bring us talented Africans to play soccer for AAMU. The SEC schools cant even beat AAMU in soccer. The showdown I am waiting for is the UAB and AAMU soccer matchup... UAB is ranked #1 in the South Region.... last year UAB won 2-1

Rugby and Cricket are also played everywhere on the planet, and Rugby has its own World Cup, to be played in Australia next fall. The United States is the defending Gold Medal winner in Olympic Rugby, but the sport they play in heaven hasn't been an Olympic sport since Paris in 1924. BTW, the NCAA is allowing schools to use women's Rugby to meet Title IX requirements--the US was second in the WRWC this year after winning it all four years ago.
