Jackson State's does too but it's mostly just alot of @$$ wiggling and bumping and grinding. Most of the time the band was out of tune. PLUS, you better give your frat boys a heads up when one of those schools come to town....a few JSU fans (they weren't even students or alumni of the place) claimed that a bunch of our frat boys jumped on them for absolutely no reason at all and beat the crap out of them. Next thing you know they're all being investigated by the FBI for "hate crimes

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------..... To reply to South Alabama Blazer....you're absolutely right! There's no fan support problems with the schools you mentioned. JSU has alot of fan support and, like you said, the football games turn into an event. Unfortunatley, it seems to me that the "event" takes more importance over the actual game. You can count on it like clockwork....once the band at JSU gets off of the field at halftime, half of the crowd leaves

When Southern U came to USM for the baseball regional. There were no problemes whatsoever. When Jackson State came for football (and basketball) it was a far different story. There was a good number of JSU alumni, students and fans at the game. No problems there. The problem was that every thug in the JXN metro bandwaggoned to campus. Trashed the place, started several fights, several were arrested for selling drugs and it was as ugly of a football game as you've ever seen. There were tons of arrests on and off campus. There were shootings at local nightclubs. This sort of garbage dosen't go on in Hattiesburg on a regular basis. Their band was awful, they need to be rated at least PG-13. Because it was little more than drums, tubas and 200 people humping the ground and each other. Their basketball team started a fight at Reed Green this past season. JSU has decent attendence only when Southern U or Grambling come to Jackson. In years when those games are away JSU averages about 12K. And very few of those are paying fans. Go to a JSU vs. Alabama A&M game and you can walk right in. I'm not in favor of playing I-AA teams, the SWAC are not even competitive I-AA teams. If we every for any reason have to play a SWAC team again in football I vote for Alcorn or Southern U. Their fans at least seem to have some class about them.

It becomes hard to tell the difference between the JSU students, alumni and fans and the real trash. Because the trash were all wearing JSU clothing as well. Plus, they gave JSU a terrible name, because none of this garbage had ever happened at USM before, except for the JSU game in '87.
I look for Southern Miss to stop scheduling JSU in all sports because of the problems from last year. Yeah it was nice for JSU to bring their 5-8K fans to Hattiesburg for the game, but the aftermath wasen't worth the hassle.

----------------------------------------------------------------------- And I think that's where the white sheet comments come from - applying the behavior of one school to all, especially considering that the tulane posters have no problem with southern football games and the usm posters enjoyed the jags at the baseball tourney.
