Bruce Pearl Auburn basketball coach!

And our people will still send our kids to those schools. It's ridiculous. I guess they view it as just the cost of doing busin
Yep, the black tax in America. Senseless to miss out on opportunities and experiences over racists, considering that is exactly what they seek to deny us at every turn.

I would have missed out on a hefty pension and damn good health insurance if I left my job over a racist sheriff in the 90's.

The same can be said for countless others of us in different situations.

At the end of the day, we have to learn to tell the racist fuck-you, and move on in pursuit our destiny.

I’ve been noticing for many years a lot of these athletic administrators/coaches and sports commentators that make their living off of young black men have hard right ideologies. Pearl is just one of the relatively latest.

Also, I can never remember a time that institutional racism, micro aggression, and glass ceilings weren’t pervasive. Lastly, I can never remember a time when there wasn’t ignorant people that refused to acknowledge the aforementioned; or dark souls that won’t fight tooth and nails to defend injustice many times to their very own detriment. While typing this it came to mind that I have less time ahead of me than behind.

That dude is a racist. He gets away with being a Maga always kissing Donnie Diapers butt. He is Tommy Tuberculosis Tubbie 2.0. This is why I can't understand people in Alabama supporting Auburn and Bama.
I will paraphase the great Carter G. Woodson "If you control a man's mind, you don't have to tell him to go here or there. He will go because he has been "Miseducated" to do so."

Um... yes and no. What happens to their institutions if our young men and women stop attending their schools? If it's Alcorn that makes a run to the final four how does that change our fortunes? The sec made 70 million in the tournament last season... what if that was ours? then we could pay the nil deals that these young men and women have earned.

that's the issue - we stop then it forces TV to change instantly and evaluate their plans and then there's the trickle down effect which would work quickly - but we won't do it

the 1% will get even madder and throw more cash to reconvince them and their camps

If he has one Black player on his team this season that tells you all you need to know about our mentality.

I get your point. Idealism is a good thing, but too often it just leads to repeatedly saying if. The reality is racism in America isn't going anywhere and black recruits will continue to go to those schools.

My intention was to emphasize the broader context of access and opportunity for everyone black, not just college basketball players. The choices made by each individual is obviously up to them, and while I whole-heartedlu agree black recruits shouldn't knowingly sign up to play for a racists, I also believe black folks, period, shouldn't deny ourselves anything because of a racist. To do so is to unintentionally empower them at our own expense.

Or those are the only schools offering a deal worth having.
We go on about our business following through on the historic investments of talent and hard work made in HBCUs by our people over time. Our institutions should continue to educate young women and men so that they can move out into the world competing like champs, all the while generating substantial institutional resources from the economic engine that is our HBCU culture. We got our own thing in this world. It's called power, so let's build on it.

I hear what you're saying. being from montgomery, there was a time when black folks denied themselves the convenience of public transportation in order to change the system. We have to willing to be a bit inconvenienced for our long term benefit.

Essentially the "Mafia" the enslavement of African people and the colonization of our "Self Knowledge"(the greatest knowledge) from a spiritual perspective. From their brutal world view and application they control our education, self identity, spiritual/religious approach to life. Thus our "choices" are structured outcomes of being dominated by a people in all 10 areas of what is considered to be "Human Activities". We will break through - as Garvey said "Up you mighty race you can achieve as you will"!

First, I agree with much of what is being said, and there are lists that have the most conservative colleges or student bodies. Schools like Ole Miss, Texas A&M, BYU, Bob Jones, and the military academies have been on these lists. I mentioned Auburn to a friend and they were not surprised. Auburn is listed at #22 on this one.

These conservative coaches are not alone on these campuses.
