Bowl Bands

ZNSPR8502

Meet, act & depart...
I am trippin' out on Georgia's band... They are jammin in the stands. They are playing "Junk Yard Dog" everytime their defense gets a sack. That reminds me of how we (Jukebox) use to play Dog Day D on sacks or really good hits. Now they are playing Louie Louie. Earlier they played another ole R&B hit, "It Ain't My Fault"...

I didn't know any SEC bands jammed like that. I"m use to the Ohio State, Michigan, USC, etc..., but this was cool...

Peace...

Yeah LB, the UGA Band seems to really be in tune with the game. I hope that we see this type of thing come back with the JukeBox. As I was watching the Sugar Bowl, I kept having visions of "Dog Day D" playing everytime a "hit" or "game changing play" happened.

YEAH BRUH. I HEARD THAT LOUIE LOUIE. MY JUNIOR HIGH BAND PLAYED THAT SONG. IT BROUGHT BACK SOME GOOD OLE' MEMORIES.

NOW IF ALL HEARTS AND MINDS ARE SATISFIED, LETS KEEP STRIVING FOR THE HIGHEST !!!

:lmao:

You guys's should've seen the 'local' Cotton Bowl coverage (here in Dallas). Texas Tech's band cranks like 'we' do. And being 350+ doesn't hurt either....

:tup::tup:

Orange Bowl

Did I just hear Penn State playing Skin I'm In by Cameo? They were groving. It almost sounded like SU arrangement.

Uhhhh...is it just me, or is Penn State's band blowin the isht out of "Skin I'm In"?

Re: Orange Bowl

Yeah, one of my old squad members called me on the phone asking that very question....

And then ABC showed Penn State cranking dat isht....

Heyal, they sounded BETTER than the 'S'...:tup:

I was checking that out myself. Penn State was crunk on that 1st drive.

Is that Penn St or Florida State blowing "So Fresh and So Clean"? These jokers are trying to jam at the games... Don't tell me the HBCU games on TV, especially Bayou Classic, aren't rubbing off on these schools.

Now Penn State is jammin' "Skin I'm In".... LOL

Peace...

They were blowin it, seems like the whole 2nd half....

TSU may need to borrow that arrangement....

PSU's Skin had the melody and a few other lines but it wasn't the SWAC arrangement with the extra features at the end

Penn State blew Skin I'm In at least 105 times last night. I never heard the trumpets come in at the beginning...just the bass line.

Listening to the Bayou's bands after play is stopped and then the bowl games.... It sounded a hell of a lot clearer. Does anyone ever notice how they mic the bands? For it to be in the Georgia Dome, there wasn't an echo anywhere. This ish sounded great, but that's cheating!!!! We should get the same treatment

You are not kidding! Matter of fact, the last time they were on tv that I watched (I think against Fresno St.), they were blowing "Skin" and a few other songs that are played in the SWAC. Also, did you see them in the Rose Bowl Parade? They looked great! They even had a "rock" as they marched!

I can't wait to see USC's band tonight.

"It's outstanding and unique," says Bartner, that the broadcast contract with ABC guarantees that each band's halftime show will get about three minutes of coverage. "Over the years, the networks have sold halftimes for commercials - that 20-minute period where bands used to shine."

Source

Play by play, from kickoff to final buzzer, Bartner cues his players from a full menu of fight songs, charges, cheers, and musical tributes keyed to the on-field game. (First down means "Fight On;" third down is "Charge;" a quarterback sack means "Another One Bites the Dust;" and a Trojan fumble or lost interception brings "All Right Now.").

...That's what bands should be doing...getting the crowd into the game instead of trying outclown each other or give concerts.
