Blowing on the other band's entrance

JayRob....are you, actually, trying to convince me of what I was in the middle of?

And, you're trying to tell me about Loudness? You must not've been listening to isht JSt. has been playing after '99. It's real clear who "tries" to be loud....versus who's been "powerful" the last few decades.

PS- Doc didn't have isht to do with that....MrJackson did. More evidence of you not knowing what the he!! you're talking about.... But, don't let me stand in the way of your parade of ignorance. Im just a by-stander.

:)

Yall kill me with this the BOOM trying to be like SU crap just because theyve gotten bigger and a bit more powerful. No band stays the same size every year, more people will come in different sections, and some years you want get that many people in a section. But I see why yall mad though is because that more powerful band thing was something you could throw around in the 90's because clearly the BOOM has always sounded better. Til this day the BOOM still sounds good, more powerful, and when they play they are clear and you can understand what the song is and hear different sections..dats no where near SU because they are loud, and most of what is being played is not clear its distorted and sounds a loud, cluttered messed..there Ive said it

Unless, my heart is in between my eyes...I don't see what my heart and/or pride has to do with what I saw while in the band. Some of them were off step while trying to hear what was going on within their own band. Plain and simple.

Like I stated earlier....what the "S" did in '97 wasn't for "trying to be successful" at doing anything. But, rather a "we ready..you're late... now hurry up and get your arses in the stands so we can finish embarrasing you" message. Nothing more...nothing less.

:)
Cool...that is what I was wondering

Although, they did it once or twice last year (the only time I know they did it, was for a BOTB's)...marching in while playing is not the "S's" forte. So, you'd have to ask Mr.Jackson if they'd do it. Never know..they might.

Plus, it pretty much every year after 97, JSt has tried to play while the "S" was marching in. So, that's nothing new.

:)
I saw them do it at the MVSU game...I'm not sure about the others because I arrived on the yard after they marched in, but I remember Mr. Jackson stating on the Jaquar Journal sports show that blowing while marching in would be one of the new things the band would be doing.

:smh:

JayRob..are you this dilusional in every aspect of life? First Kobe is the greatest thing since break-away rims...now you think you know why the "S" does what it does...and, you think folks in the "S" are cutting off clips that weren't even posted by them...._ _ _! and Pathetic...:smh:

These fools actually think hurrying up to get in the stands is the same as pockets of band members being off step.

Those Mississippi mud sammiches must have sum'n in them...
:)

hahahah !!!!! :lmao::lmao:

Bruh...everyone flexes in numbers...true. But, how many bands totally change the way they do things?

And, you're in complete denial if you say the Boom hasn't changed the way they play...esp, after '99 (the year they got thrashed twice in one year).

...you JSt'ers talk about lies. Here's the epitome.

:)

....uuuhhh bladey, what about the marches?! cat gotcha tongue?....jackson gotcha tongue?........gregs...??

 ...you finished?

You acting like the "S" doesn't play marches... What...are they supposed to play them because JSt. is in the stands? Wouldn't that kind of be like "all of a sudden becoming a 'power band', instead of the 'finesse band' " you used to always brag about ALLLLL the time?

Sorry bruh...the "S" has been the same "S". Can you say the same about the Boom?

To thine own self be true.

:)

Things change with diff. arrangers and diff. BD/s, hell SU sound has changed since the new BD especially with the increase in the woodwind section. And the only thing that has changed about the BOOM sound after 99 is that theyve gotten more aggressive while playing..

The epitome of lying is what you just did talking bout the BOOM has totally changed the way they do things when all the traditional things the BOOM did years ago they are still doing til this day. And you act as if SU had something to do with the sound changing LOL...you Jags would of took credit for discovering America if it wasnt already wrote in history books :lmao: If thats the case yall tryna be like the BOOM with the increase in the woodwind sections...pot..kettle...mofo black smh

su's known to take credit from what some of the white schools (Michigan State) were doing long before THEY came on the scene with the SAME type of marches.

Pictures don't lie.....NOW WHO'S BEEN STEALING?! su that's who.

lol@ these comments. J-State's sound has changed. The only songs that sound somewhat like the old boom are of course the old faithful songs that have been played for years and even in those songs you hear sections take parts up just to sound more powerful, and people still don't realize how the Southern Effect has taken place.

Some of yall keep substituting the word "powerful" in place of the term "loudness" to try and muddy the waters. Loudness and lack of fullness does not equal to "power".

JayRob, you are spitting in the wind with that. I have been trying to get "volume" used in the proper context in lieu of power ever since I have been on this board. The nomenclature is far too ingrained.

:smh:...dude...name one thing in that clip that makes SU look like MSU today.

Everythings different. From color guard to the corp style march...to the corp style drum section.

...and, you talk about diverting. How you gon' bring MSt. out the arse like that?

:)

...bruh...Ive never seen such blind arse pride. If you can't tell the many differences in today's Boom...versus just a decade ago...then, you need to back out of the band forum...point blank.

Not surprised, though. This IS JSt. we're talking about.

Seeming as the make-up of SU is still the same....are you telling us that, even the Jukebox you went up against in the early 80's, was just LOUD and not Powerful? The same band you can not only hear, but feel?

I can definitely say, since the Boom has changed (after '99...and, you're lying to yourself if you say they didn't change)...they've become loud. And, they're definitely not "musical" like Boomers used to throw around on this very message board.

:)

No, I am not trying to say anything about the Box, the Boom, not any other band. All I am trying to say is that volume and power are not the same thing and most posters here use the term power when they should be using volume.

If you would like me to go on one of my tirades about how much senseless and unnecessary screaming goes on that makes the vast majority of the marching bands that embrace that technique sound like mountains of horse manure, just say so. I am more that capable of that.

Cause that's where I went to grad school. su took that system and tweaked it to their liking, but nevertheless, they borrowed. suCK your pride up for just once, just one time, and give credit to where credit's due.

Good points dacontinent. The term volume is a more precise term than loudness.

How bout you suck it up and pay attention to the question.

Name one thing in that clip that MSt. did...that SU does now. Cuz, I can fa'da*n sho see things that JSt. does NOW, that they didn't do just a few years back, that are alot like what SU's BEEN doing.

I know my own band's history. Never said MSt. had nothing to do with SU's history. But, that clip was supposedly up to show the similaries in MSt. and SU. So, where is it? You having attended MSt. ain't got isht to do with my question.

That su does now? Is that a confession?

That photo was there to prove to you that su copied that particular school. Whether they're doing it now is irrelevant. The point is that they have done it in the past. I said in my post that su has TWEAKED the copied styles to fit their own program.

You never denied the fact that su's band history is not completely separated from Michigan State/Michigan.
All you had to do was admit that su took from other programs, plain and simple.
Come to think of it, you just did.

Just for clarity though, I'll ask you point blank, did su copy from Michigan State/Michigan....yes or no?
Simple question.

And, you STILL haven't pointed out what MSt. did in that clip, that's the same as what SU does NOW/the present/2007.

 ...bruh, your logic and comprehension skills are lacking. And, your knowledge has proven to be as accurate as a two year old trying to pi$$ in a shot-glass.

What part of....
I know my own band's history. Never said MSt. had nothing to do with SU's history.
...didn't you understand?!?!

But, yet I see you've convienantly skipped this part...

Thas' right....keep diverting.... You're making yourself look like a Du'Mass.

When would doing anything other than honoring the entrance of another in competition EVER be a class act? When is a lack of honor ever a successful thing?

Band, sports, politics, relationships, parenting, ... pick the issue of your choice. Be classy in what you do.

People just don't get it...
