Warndalyn

Postmaster General!!!
Anyone picked up any good movies, from Blockbuster, lately? If so, what are they? I'm behind on movies, right now...both at the theatre and blockbuster. :smh:

Warndalyn, being the LL Cool J fan that you are, I don't know if you checked out the movie "Mindhunters", but it's pretty good, and it came out on video about 2 months ago.

Also, "Crash" with Don Cheadle isn't a bad bet, it's been out for about 3 months now, and I enjoyed it.

Hope that helps.

NICE

Blockbuster...man I haven't rented a movie in almost a year. Best Buy, Target, and Curcit City have become my best friends.

Crash, Stealth, The Skeleton Key, The Longest Yard.....that's all I can think of right now!

Just be sure you don't rent, the Da Block Party! LOL!!!

Suge, just by the name, it sounds bad...LOL Haven't seen the Skeleton Key yet...and I can't remember if I've seen The Longest Yard or not.

NICE, I've seen Crash...pretty good movie. Hadn't checked out my baby's daddy's movie, Mindhunters, yet...didn't even know it had come to the theaters, let alone, Blockbuster. :xeye:

Yeah, I haven't been to Blockbuster in a minute (well to actually rent movies), Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal Mart, and Target, are the places I go, but when I do go to Blockbuster, I go to buy movies I'm not sure of, but wanted to see, just not to pay full price for. So I usually buy them 3 at a time for $25. I have Stealth, Skeleton Key, The Longest Yard, but I haven't watched Stealth, and Skeleton Key just yet. Longest Yard was OK.

Another movie that was pretty good, but I don't know if you're into Batman, or not, maybe Devin is, but Batman Begins was pretty good as well.

Suge, you know how the wife, and I are about low budget black movies, so I'm sure at some point, we'll regretably end up getting Da Block Party. After watching Da Crib, Black Ski Trip, The Great Watermelon Heist, and Roscoe's Chicken & Waffle's, we may have to rethink our thought process of supporting black movies. :lmao:

Well at my house, we just call them BBM's, Bad Black Movies, and no matter how much I try to avoid them, I just can't help buying them. It is always hit or miss. Mostly miss. The only good thing about Da Block Party was that it was shot in NOLA. Da Crib...awful, and I still have to watch Black Ski Trip. And don't get Big Ain't Bad....that one was beyond bad! LOL!! But with out independent black cinema, the world would not have my favorite BBM character..Dayron Southboy!

O yeah, check out Stars on Demand, it will save you some cash. i just watched the film with Luke and AJ Johnson......that is about the only good thing I can say about that movie.

Back to the topic. Batman Begins is great. The wife and I watch that last weekend. I am headed to best Buy today to pick up Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Go to Circuit City, $13.99.

LOL, man I saw a dude at the game Saturday, that I swore was ol Southboy. I was tempted to speak to him, just to see if it was him. LOL Southboy is funny, but he ain't got schit on Beach Pimp.

Hey man, save yourself some time, Black Ski Trip is downright awful, but since you already bought it, you might as well watch it. Good thing the winter months are here, and times are slow, but dayum.

Speaking of ski trips, I'm still searching through our BBM archives for that signature movie we can all sit there, and laugh at together for ours. So, go through yours, and see if you can find one.

I'm still trying to find Sweet Potato Pie, the black American Pie, something told me to buy it last year in New Orleans when I saw it, but now I can't find it anywhere.

NICE

I just finished watching The Skeleton Key. I think you will like it. It has a NOLA backdrop and ends in a very surprising manner. But, not scary to me, although she went peeking behind doors she shouldn't have. :shh:

I just bought The Longest Yard and today at Best buy I got Mr and Mrs. Smith.
I will probally get Crash after the holidays.

Man I just saw that movie a few weeks ago and I can't rememeber where I saw it....I'll check e-bay. I found a couple of movies there for 1.99.

I'm still working on Krush Groove, Last Dragon, and Breakin. they are some hard to find movies. Saw them all online, but they were way overpriced.

O yeah....D-Town, check out the movie th einterpreter. It was urpisingly really good, and I don't know how old it is now, but XXX State of the Union was great. Ice Cube actually pulled it off.

yeah Suge, I saw the Interpreter at the movies...I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have yet to check out Mr. & Mrs. Smith, though...I think I will stop and pick that one up, tonight, on my way home.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Aw man I forgot to tell you, I picked up the Last Dragon last week in New Olreans (well, err, ra Harvey). I found Sho Nuff for $16 at Best Buy. Who's the master?

NICE

Aww dayum you man! You should have gotten me one too. But I'm glad that I know you have one, that way I won't buy two.

Am I the meanest?

My bad dawg, but it was nutt11thward's fault. Between him rushing me to get a hot sausage sandwich, and laughing at me for buying the Rolling Stones, and laughing at me for fussing with the girl at Best Buy, because The Honeymooners was on sale for $19.99, and not $14.99 like the rest of the movies that came out that day, that I forgot to give you a holla when they finally found Sho Nuff sitting on the aisle for me.

NICE

Hold on......I thought I was the only one mad about BB and the honeymooners being 19.99, plus at my BB they didn't even have it on the new release aisle. Sad on BB part. I would mancott them for a while, but i have to go there today and pick up my new washer and dryer. LOL!!

I forgot about that one D-Town. I haven't watched it yet, so I can't tell you if it's any good.

Dizzam NICE!!! Sho Nuff was everyday priced @ Best Buy for 6.99 and I could've sworn that I saw it as low as 5.99. Also, found Breakin' for 6.99 there too (my big sister was in Breakin' lol). Haven't encountered Krush Groove yet. :(

I haven't seen either at Best Buy...but of you say 5.99, then I am off to the best buy web site right now!

REVIEWS:

Mr. & Mrs. Smith was really good...I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has a lot of comedy in it, as well.

Saw was just ok, to me...everybody pumped that movie up to be so great, and I didn't enjoy it, as much as I had thought I would. :whine:

The Skeleton Key was pretty good...I thought it was suppose to be scary. Good suspense though.

I also rented, but haven't had a chance to watch Stealth, House of Wax, & Christmas w/the Kranks, yet. I wanted the Honeymooners, but they were all out.

P, that must be a Texas BB price, because in Harvey, LA that bad boy was $15.99. Bruh, I don't know how long I've been searching for that movie, and no matter what store I went to, none of them had it, so after months of searching, and finally finding it, as long as it wasn't over $20 it was as good as purchased, and even if it was over $20, I may have seriously considered it.

I still have my doubts abouts Breakin, but considering some of the truly horrible arsed Black movies I've purchased over the years, Breakin is looking (in my best Larry David impersonation) preeetteee, pretttteeee, preeettttttty good.

Krush Groove is a no brainer, the minute I see it, like Sho Nuff, it's a done deal. Man, I saw KG 5 times at the theater when it came out, and 2 of those times I didn't see the whole thing, because, errr, welll, erra, we had some 3rd ward vs 7th ward rumbles in the Loews State (holla at me New Orleans).

NICE

Well I got "Breakin" this weekend for 9.99 at Circit City and I picked up the "Last Dragon" for 14.99. Plus we got the "school house rock" and the sound of Music. SHR was only 9.99, but that dayum Sound of Music hit me for 19.99. I was like dayum. I haven't paid 19.99 for a DVD is a while. I didn't even check for Krush Groove because the wife remined me that I am on a budget due to Christmas. Because she knows I will go in and buy 100 bucks worth of DVD's in a heartbeat. And although I am a die hard best buy guy, circuit city had everything. And a helluva colection of BBM's. I may have to give them a chance again. Plus they had better customer service too.

Some other good DVD's I have picked up.

School of Rock with jack Black. It was pretty good. Saw it at the show, but had to check it out again to make sure it was no fluke.

Honeymooners - I enjoyed this. It was as funny as I expected considering Cedric and Day Day were in the movie. But it was still pretty good.

Tomorrow.....Fantastic Four, Gotta have that. Still have to pick up Mr. & Mrs. Smith, so I guess I'll be going to wall mart. They still keep the 14.99 price during the 2nd week of release. Plus you can always find some Bad Black Movies(BBM's) at the Mart for 4.99-9.99.

Also on the lookout for Mary Poppins, Labyrinth, Beauty and the Beast, & the neverending story.

And can they please relase season two of the wayans brothers, and release Martin. They can drop all these sorry shows that no one watches after their first season on the air, but it has been dayum near a year since season 1 of the wayans dropped, and Martin is no where in sight. I hope it doesn't take this long with seasons 2 of Cosby and Different World.

You better get Mary Poppins now bruh, it won't be in circulation much longer, and if you're getting the Disney version of B&TB, you're going to have to wait for another 2 years, before they take it out of the vault again, or go on E-Bay.

Mary Poppins will be going back in the vault soon, and there's no telling when it will be released again.

I'm waiting on B&TB, The Lion King, Lady & The Tramp, 101 Dalmations, and of course......oh hell no, I ain't gon give yo arse the satisfaction. :D

NICE

Mary Poppins...that's one of my most favorite movies, of all times.

um Suge and DNICE, y'all are NOT on the hard brothers list, fa sho. :shame:

Hard Brothers watch Mary Poppins! A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down! I'll get MP tomorrw then, plus Ihave to grab My Fair Lady!

I think I have the Dalmations, but it may just be the live action version. I had to return a couple of movies after I realized that I already had them......
