Black College National Championship?


MH, why is that all of a sudden, head to head means nothing to you???

My logical opinion is that is SU wins, they are the champs
If SU loses, they are the champs. Regardless of SU's weak sissy schedule, they have the record and the wins to be named BCF National champs.
 



THem Ala State folks are just trying to find a way to justfy them being National Champs when they don't deserve it. No way should a 4 loss team be put over 2 and 3 loss teams that beat them. If Ala State does win on sat. that would mean they split with southern so that still should not put them over southern all the way back from 5th place. As of yet, what ranked team has ALA state beat. If Southern Loses, it should be Grambling, esp. since Southern is the only black school grambling lost to, and Grambling beat Ala State. In my opinion, Grambling is number 2 in the swac, not any of those teams in the east. THe real SWAC championship game was last week in the superdome, this week is just a "give a loser in the east one game to get lucky" game.

Tigerpride, give us some credit, we have also beaten 4 ranked teams, nobody else has done that. So it's not like we haven't done anything, and if your school would have been at it's normal level, it would be 5. Even if we lose, we will still have a better record against ranked teams than anyone else.

I like that post Lewis. Especially that part about the eastern division. You guys are clearly the weaker division with Alcorn the only team able to do anything against us. Now you want consideration for a title. And want to be placed ahead of Grambling to boot. We throttled A&M and outlasted St. on your home field. No way either should be ranked ahead of Gram nationally regardless of what happens Saturday.

OK man. When you put it like that, I got to give it to you. Ya'll beat SU, Ya'll are the champs. You got to respect that and I will.

But this is my point with the national rankings. Miami-OH is the MAC champ, they beat Marshall, Marshall beat Kansas St., Kansas St. Beat OU. Since Miami OH is the MAC champ, they should be ranked ahead of OU. Not hardly.
I'm just giving you an extreme example of how winning a conference title doesn't necessarily qualify you to be reverenced nationally. You guys have 4 losses and we beat you head to head. No way you should be ranked ahead of us regardless of what happens Saturday.

But the Miami (OH) scenario is kinda far fetched. For starters, nobody would rank the MAC anywhere near the Big 12 or any of the BCS conferences.


what about this.

Fl Gators beat LSU in the regular season. LSU goes on to win their division and win the conference. Right now, I don't see many folks hanging their hat on that regular season game with the Gators, as some kind of indictment against LSU.

Good analogy with LSU/Florida but there are some glaring differences. Florida doesn't have a better record than LSU. Gram does over St. Florida is not currently ranked higher than LSU. Gram is over St.

That's what makes it difficult to put St. Ahead of Gram in the final analysis.

But LSU is 12-1 and is OBVIOUSLY one of the best teams in the land. If LSU were 10-3 or 9-4 and won the SEC, they wouldn't be playing for a national title. It would be OU and USC, and even though OU got blasted, LSU wouldn't have a case to complain just because they won the SEC and had at 10-3 or 8-4 record.

LSU would have lots of reasons to complain if EVERY single team ahead of them lost and they won. Especially, if a team in its own conference would get the nod, without having won the conference.
 
LOL@ this argument. SU will win Saturday and that my friends will end all the debate.

I can't believe MH with his back that azz in the SCG team of his wanting some run for a national championship. Like I said it don't matter. Get your track shoes on. SU in a repeat of what happened in earlier this year. It may be even worse. We're much better than that team.

What does winning the conference have to do with winning a national title. The bottom line is conference pick thier winner in different ways, so it is not an apple to apple comparison. IF the swac just put it's top 2 teams in the SCG, Ala state would have to buy a ticket to get in the gate, the game would clearly be between Southern and Grambling. Yall got 3 conference losses and got yall arse kicked by every ranked team yall done played(0-4). Now you wanna win 1 game that yall backed into because the SWAC east is so weak and call yourselves champions. As much as I hate to say it, BCC deserves it before yall, at least they kick yall arses.<br><br>But I think Southern should get it win or lose, and if not SOuthern, then Grambling.

well if ASU backed into the SCG, then SU backed in too!!!!

ASU and Alcorn both finished with 5-2 records in the East. ASU beat Alcorn head to head.

SU and Gram both finished with 6-1 records in the West. SU beat Gram head to head.

This argument is simple......

The BCF champion should be the winner of the SCG or the winner of the MEAC. No one else has an argument. IF SU doesn't win saturday, they need to come and sit down with GSU because if you can't win your conference then you don't deserve to champion of anything......
 
Ah ummm....... but then when you look at the playoff system that is viewed to be more accurate they crown teams that haven't won their conf. championship by virtue of at large bids.

Just thought I'd throw that in there so you mindbenders can really get to churing now. :D
 
The only SWAC team that can win the BCF championship is SU. Sorry Bama but you guys have too many regular season losses to be considered the NC. Same applies to Grambling who didn't win it's conference. IMO, the champ (if SU loses) will be A&T based on them being MEAC champs. Then again, maybe one of the D2 schools with an impressive record will get it.

Not dissing Bama State if you win the SCG. I give you props for being Conference Champs...you will be the only team that can make that claim. If SU wins the SCG, they should and will be BCF champs.
