Black College Cheerleader/Dance Competition

"The KITCHEN and the Bedroom."

enswaclopedia, at Alabama St and AAUM the core programs are Education. I know that Ole Hornet will never understand that you are doing your very best to change the definition of Education: Education IS A Life Long process. And the curriculums at both schools teach humanities, therefore, do not post when you are not in your right mind. Title IX allowed us to win championships in some of the more difficult spots.

You go back, get on your knees, pray about it and reread JSU*Toi reply.

MH, we just lost the bowling championship and now we are looking forward to Tennis, softball and baseball. We may not win all the time but when discussing any educational program we remember to start with the key words to educational objectives.

to provide learning experiences that will enhance the lives of our student athletes.

For Example: When our students athletes look back at the lost last week to Bama St. they will remember the guy with the cape, rubber boots, gold shorts and afro wig on more than that ugly bumblebee. What an experience?

Mach, I know where James when to school, he went the wrong way for 4 years. But he knew where to end up at to excel.

MD: This is the SWAC. If you are not winning championships in football, basketball, baseball or track nobody gives a possums arse. If the NCAA didn't require that we maintain a certain number of scholarship sports everything else would be cut out completely without much objections. As for Tit IX; I think we are wasting a lot of money being forced to fund these programs.

JSU*Toi; I know you and thousands of others put in a lot of effort in cheerleading. Yes a lot of cheerleaders do possess some athletic ability. But to refer to it as asport is totally absurd. When I played I just never understood the purpose for them other than they looked good in those short dresses with their bresesses bouncing up and down. Other than that they need to put the money in the band so we can see more Stingettes, Dancing Dolls, J'settes and Golden Girls.

Cheerleading is a REAL SPORT Let me see your butt get out there and let someone thrown you in the air. When I was in high school the cheerleaders had to do weight training just like the football team and baskteball teams. We have to learn new techniques and all that. Being a cheerleader was a fulltime job...

We worked hard for little or no props unless you were on a great team. Do you think it is easy to do a controlled round off. Or a perfect toe touch...

Back up son... you know not what you speak

Please let these fools know the TRUTH!!!! Ignorant ass futhamuckas!!!!

yipe!

Didn't a coach in MEAC get fired for downing his cheerleaders. Cheerleaders are athletes. They also get injured just like other athletes.

Dude... becasue you have shown that you are completly below my level I will not continue to discuss this issue with you. But I can tell you one thing I bet you could not last one day... no freak that one hour at a cheer camp.

   :redhot:

Look...I know you cheerleaders like to think that what you do is a sport....but it isn't!

Now are cheeleaders athletes? Hell yes! They have a talent and skill to do something that not just anyone can do. But cheerleading is not a sport. Any event that the winner is chosen buy a judge, can not be a sport. Sports have winners and loosers, and that winner is based on competition. Not by some judges. Cheerleading & Gymnastics are to areas that require great skill, mental toughness, and great athletic skills. But that doesn't make them a dayum sport!

And in no way does cheerleading, or any other sport for that matter, compare to football. Just like I tell them dayum band people, I will tell cheerleaders. As much as you want to believe that people are there to see you, truth is they are there for the game. True there are some who come just to see bands, but the majority are there to watch the real sport!

Sure did

It was two schools: UMES (basketball coach) and BCC (Football). From what I see, MEAC, SIAC and CIAA take cheerleading very seriously, even when the revenue generating sports aren't in session. Morgan and Morris Brown show that.

hmmmm?

I dunno hoss. Lots of folk leave after halftime. I don't think any one group pulls more than football, but if you combine, say, the mugz coming to the game just to socialize (ERRRRRR,, lookin' for the ladies/fellas the parties, get blasted,, etc) with those coming to see the band, that's a tuff call.

This does not happen at JSU unless the game is already basically over at halftime. You also have to remember that after halftime, a lot of people leave the stands to go to the restroom and concessions and then come back. I don't know and I can't speak for other schools but I have never witnessed a mass exodus from the stadium unless the game winner was decided. If it happens at JSU, it's more along the beginning of the 4th quarter when some people want to beat the traffic, not right after halftime.

yeah, but i don't know if the MAJORITY of people left after halftime are there hanging on a thread watching every play. mugz are socializing and trying to find out where the parties are and thinking about when to leave to beat the traffic.

I appreciate that you acknowlege that cheerleaders are athletes, but I have to disagree with you when say that, “Sports have winner and looser, and that winner is based on competion.”

Well cheerleaders do compete local, region, and national levels. Ice skating is a subjective sport. Gymnastics is a subjective sport.

Just because there are not judges, does not make it any less of a sport.

Competition.

I think what we have is varying levels and types of competition. There are contact sports and non-contact sports. You can "compete" in both. I think "sports" is a matter of context and definition. We need to agree on what the definition of "sports" is, otherwise it all boils down to your particular biase; rather you are a contact sports participant or a non-contact sports participant. Clearly there is a difference in interaction with another person that could have an effect on your performance in a physical activity as opposed to a situation where your performance is strictly dependent on your performance with no human influence other than your own thoughts and training. You got to be physically fit to be a cheerleader AND a football/basketball/baseball player. You have to be somewhat fit to be a band member. In band and cheerleading you don't physically interact with another human that is trying to minimize or top your physical performance. This could be said for gymnastics, track, swimming, et al infinitum. It boils down to the definition of "sport" and then degrees: contact, non-contact, etc.

Well, I think plenty individuals would argue that boxing is a sport, though the winner is determined by judges. Maybe a distinction could be made as far as the type of event - whether you call it a "game", a "match", or a "competition". A competition would be more likely to utilize judges - cheerleading, ice skating, etc. A game would probably be more of your team sports - football, basketball, baseball, etc. Then, you've got matches - somewhere in between. Like, I would consider a tennis match to be much, much more of a sport than a chess match.
