The UAB football program got more good financial news on Monday.

Birmingham City Councilors passed a $2.5 million funding agreement to support UAB football during Monday's economic development and budget and finance meeting. It will go toward full City Council approval in next Tuesday's meeting, Council President Johnathan Austin said.

UAB athletics director Mark Ingram and head football coach Bill Clark were present at the committee meeting, Austin said. The city will give the UAB football program five yearly installments of $500,000 each.

This is kinda homerism. Yes, the MCC makes Bham a lot of money, but how much money does that school generate for the city all year long? It shouldnt be a surprise that they'd help a school that's a figurehead and a staple of their town lol.

Ummm you are clearly speaking from the outside perspective without considering the payout the schools are receiving now vs what they could make in a home and home series

So yall ain't getting much from the 60K+ fans that attend that game? How much are tickets on average? I would assume at least $20-25/pop. At $20/ticket 60K = $1.2M gross.

The wife and I were talking last night after watching that Real Sports segment....UAB has the money but in our opinion they really don't need a football team. Plus they also want their own stadium on campus.
