Bethune Cookman vs Jackson State Game Updates: 2:00pm CT

Please stop anointing Jalen as the air apparent. The most complete QB we have is a freshman, but the one from Memphis, Quency Casey. The only thing is he’s extremely frail and need to bulk up significantly. That may take some time though. Jalen has more upside but right now he’s behind Casey as a complete QB.
You can’t run RPO with Ponder as the run is not a part of his game or better yet non-existent. Jones decision making leaves a lot to be desired while trying to do too much when steady is needed. But an upside that we haven’t seen since Kent. Casey can operate the entire offense that we have implemented very well. The kid has been well coached!

Actually Jalon isnt behind Casey Casey only took 4 snaps. I'm sure we would of found something to complain about had he stayed in longer. Just the way our fanbase is. Ponder will be the starter and Jalon is QB2. I know what type of team USA has and Ponder is starting against them. You can pretty much sum up how this will play out lol. You definitely can't run RPO with Ponder so that's completely on the OC.

I can agree with this and the coaching staff must agree as well because he was the starter.

Ponder to me looks no different that TnSU's QB mobility wise. He can move but I would not run a RPO based offense with him. Ponder is a thrower

Jones has all the upside as far as potentially becoming the complete package but right now he isn't that. He really needs a year in the system before handing him the keys. If you give him the keys now, you will have to deal with the good (potential deep ball threat) and the bad (fumbles and INTs)

A year, naw but he definitely needs some more time to learn the system. He has the biggest upside for the system we are running. I agree that if given the keys now we will have to let him play through his mistakes. I definitely like the added potential he brings on offense. Defenses have to account for his running abilities at all times plus hes a decent passer. With Ponder they know he isn't going to run it so itll be much easier to scheme for him.

That wasn't the issue. The issue was you commenting on JSU's loss while ignoring your own blowout loss.

How am I ignoring our loss when I said everybody is beating us ... our own coach didn't even expect us to win ... he made it clear it is a rebuild season for us last week. TSU fans didn't expect much out of the new season except to at least score a touchdown or two per game, JSU HUGE fanbase expect to win most if not all their games ... that's the issue ... they stuck on JSU football of the 80s and 90s which I doubt will ever come back

I never said he was behind him on the depth chart, only in his game being more complete at this stage in there young careers. Coaches sometimes tend to cater to potential rather than the right here and now. Casey only took 4 snaps due to rib-cage injury he sustained on that 4th snap.

Jalon got injured as well but went back out there. What I'm saying is that we didn't see much of Casey to decipher if hes better than Jalon. Hes QB3 for a reason. Casey is fine now and I like how he stood in there and delivered that pass. That took a lot of guts. Our issues on offense are good problems to have though. I love the potential

I think we are saying the same thing but I would ride with steady rather than flash of potential until that potential becomes kinetic.

This is it right here. Casey is the Heir.

Casey impressed me more.

I would say that JSU had their opportunities to win it and blew it. I would also say the refs blew a major call on a fumble that should have gone in their favor and deviates from momentum flow. In some pollsters assessment, BCU was supposed to be the 4th best team in BCF. If JSU clean up some things, they will make a few games very interesting...

We will be fine. I saw some good things from the offense (as bad as they played). It was expected the defense will play well. They didn't hydrate though (cramps not conditioning). Now the special teams will suck and we will have to play through that. Casey started because Jalon and Ponder got in trouble during fall camp and that was their punishment. Casey is still 3rd string. Hendrick stated Ponder will be starting until he messes up (S Alabama is legit so he will be benched after that game). The oline looks vastly improved so the running game is clicking. We definitely got some receivers that can stretch the field. Once we choose a guy and stick with him that chemistry will develop so I'm not concerned there. Future looks bright. Congrats BCU

Jones got in trouble at Florida and had to transfer to JSU. Now he's gotten into trouble and can't start for JSU. What makes you certain hat this kid won't stay out of trouble long enough to be longtime player for JSU? You would think that he would place high value on his second chance and walk a straight path.

What kind of major trouble did he get in at JSU?

Both QB's got into minor trouble. If it was major, he wouldn't have played at all.
18 year olds gone get into trouble more than not.

Welp time for my analysis because I was at the game covering for HBCU Gameday.... um j state lost that game more than BCU won that game..... I need Hendricks to pick the qb before shc.... I need Jones to be humble.... you a four star but that throw he made in the flat for the pick 6 in the third? He knows better... JSU had 500 yards of offense and 5 turnovers two coming in the red zone that should’ve been touchdowns... j state special teams some Pooh and that kicker need to kick all practice next week... defense needs better condition saw too many players down cramping yesterday.... JSU needs to be discipline man 111 yards of penalties is inexcusable.... these are all things Hendricks can earn his check and fix... we going 0-2 i see a shc win for us... get it done J state talent is there... we have the best front 7 with southern and Alcorn in the swac.... our offense can move the ball.... but if our offense going to come on the field with quick three and outs the let T.C. Taylor call the plays if he’s not already. I know haters want to celebrate JSU losing but JSU lost that game and the scary thing is they’re not even at their full potentials yet. 5 turnovers loses any game idc who you are. Our mascot should be suspended that’s embarrassing and will be on hbcu gameday on the network caught by me smh...

Wow!

I wanna be able to dissect and analyze a 🏈ball game like that. That was great!

I think you are searching for a negative that isn't there. Ponder is a good team guy so this "trouble" you are trying to highlight could be something as simple as being late for practice. Whether he gets in trouble again or stays at JSU is his choice as it is for every other kid in the country. No player is above the team. With that being said he is still a kid just like all the others his age.

I was referring to Jones, not Ponder. Jones is the one being counted on to be the future qb.

They both suffered the same punishment which means they did it together. Hendrick doesn't play when it comes to things like being on time etc. Jones isnt all that's being counted on as the future QB. Quinn Casey is a 3 star and is pushing for PT as well.

JSU is talented on offense, the problem is going to be settling on a starting QB when about 4 thinks they should start. The coaches will have to make a decision so the team can buy in on one guy, if not, expect up and down play all year!

Agreed. 2 are hurt right now (nothing major) so Ponder is the guy. S Alabama is legit so I'm just hoping we can get out of that game relatively healthy.

Seriously....in my opinion the mascot is a spectator and should stay in a spectator’s place. They should have put him in cuffs. The wrong opposing team and the dude could have been hurt.

Thank you. Not only that..........we had the momentum in this game. Defense was on point.......offense, meh but still went up 15-0 after that touchdown and that clown(mascot) cost us 15 yards on the kickoff putting BC in GREAT field position and guess what........they scored on that drive.......momentum gone. I'd suspend his dumb ass. I don't care what he does at Memorial Stadium........if I was the coach I woulda gone over and yanked his ass. It's not the reason we lost but it damn sure is the reason we lost momentum going into the half.

We went into the half 3-0 so this isn't completely accurate. This incident occurred halfway through the 3rd quarter. We went up 15-7 when this occurred. The momentum shifted when Jones got pushed into BCUs sidelines. The play before that pic 6. He should definitely do everything Hendrick said hes gonna make him do.
