Just days after it was reported that current Alabama State head coach Brian Jenkins was accused of rules violations and mistreating players and coaches while at Bethune-Cookman,the school announced Monday that it has launched an investigation into the claims.

According to the university, B-CU acknowledged that schools officials were aware of possible rules violations committed by the football program last fall and notified the MEAC and NCAA.

If they knew, they should have fired him on the spot. Instead, they let him to continue to coach and quit on his own terms. I've known of coaches who were relieved of their coaching duties in the middle of a season, such as SU's former coach Stump Mitchell.

This aint nothing but drama started by Josh Moon. If there was something they might as well fire their current coaching staff for not reporting all this stuff. Also some of this would fall on the administration too. They should havefired Jenkins earlier. You can't tell me theyddidn't know this was happening

Josh Moon is doing his job. If there was no news to report, he wouldn't have written the article.
Dude, you're blaming everybody except the right people.
Now your President, Board and AD are at odds with each other. This sounds eerily familiar.

Its seems as if BCU is trying to destroy Jenkins. If true, BCU is just as responsible as Jenkins.

If this is true the NCAA will punish both. Sanctions for BCU, a show cause penalty for Jenkins. You can't work with a show cause on your resume.

Stump got canned because he killed SU football, not for anything that Jenkins is being accused of.

All what's a little terrorist threat/bodily harm among coach and athlete(the man wasn't going to really cut the babies throat was he)...boy these kids today are too soft I tell ya...LMAO...Come on BCU stop with the sour grapes!

Everybody at SU and around the SWAC knows exactly why Stump was relieved of his coaching duties, but my point is a coach can be removed of his duties without effecting the functionality of the sport he is over. Like Journalist stated, B-CU appears to have a lack of institutional control, since they allowed Jenkins to finished the year and quit on his own terms, although they knew he had violated NCAA rules.

trying to dig his grave they dug theirs as well. if the allegations are true there are a few major violations. if the ncaa hits jenkins with a show cause all they have to do is fire him and hire bill clark. that would make josh moon happy and then he'll get off their back, not to mention he's a pretty good coach.

I wonder if this is a true statement. Was the general public made aware of this?

Stump help bring back SU football. He just couldnt call plays.

Kendrick, I think SUJag is trying to say that coach Mitchell laid the groundwork for the current program's success. It didn't translate in the wins/losses columns. However, the structure and emphasis on recruiting players that can graduate (remember, Pete-and-company brought SU football into the APR shambles), helped the program regain momentum lost from the last few years of the Richardson era.

They probably wanted to inivestigate the claims. It makes sense.

Also, Stump's contract was up after that season, so firing him at that point didn't have a bad effect on SU. Jenkins had just signed a contract extension, so BCU would have had to be diligent in presenting its reasons for firing him.

I find this story harder and harder to believe. I mean a coach pulling a knife on a kid threatening to cut his throat if he speak again. Practices at 2 am. Three a day workouts that is a CLEAR violation.....

HBCU folks in Florida are saying they've been hearing rumors about the practices for a couple of years.

Shit it's not hard...what they practicing with no lights and shit at a big ass football field. It's kinda hard not to see a bunch of cars at an indoor arena at 2 am. I'm sure a NUMBER of people saw him pull a knife and put to a student's neck.

If BCU administrators knew all of this and did nothing they should be punished. Simple as that.

Although I must admit, I've never seen a better display of full force stupidity and hatred working so well in tandem. Usually, it's one or the other. Whatever the case, I'm wondering if moon is Semitic. He is kind of bug-eyed and very desperate. It's just that he's been at it for awhile now, and I've never seen the "good ole boys of bama", perhaps the league of the south, make someone work so hard for his stripes. Usually, if you poison, frame or shoot a non-clear person, then you're automatically in. This guy must be EXTREMELY retarded and inbred

They'll get punished regardless.

Some of the country schools can get away with alot, not many eyes on them. We have heard stories how the old school coaches use to do lol.

Fixed it for ya, Kendrick ...

But if these allegations are true, you have to hit B-CU with that lack of institutional control.

I don't think BCU is afraid.

Why you tryna place all the blame on BCU and Moon? Jenkins is the culprit here!
