Best HBCU Game Day "Greasy Spoons".

For those of us who don't have the luxury of rolling to HBCU games in RVs and campers or posting up for some classic tailgating, where would you recommend people to go get some good grub (uuh,, after "some" adult beverages)? Best restaraunts like BBQ joints, soul food joints, cajun food or whatever is the most popular places for football fans after the game. For example, Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa is legendary

Also, what was your favorite place while in college that you remember to this day? (see "On The Yard" for that thread.)

Dreamland franchising.

Montgomery is slated for a franchise according to their website! I have no idea where, but looks like they will do good business during ASU and Auburn home games. :) I just don't see how the market will handle all the local BBQ places and now Johnny Ray's and Dreamland. I think Dreamland is so "legendary" that it will be an instant success.

Are these all "mom & pops" type places or chains? Any of em got websites? Good stuff, logged. I will soon be going on my HBCU tour. I plan on visiting every football playing HBCU campus for a home game.

Stamps isn't on that particular list because they weren't listed in the Web Yellow Pages under Restaurants for Jackson. Otherwise they would've been there.. And they don't have a website either (not that they need one).

But I didn't have a phone number for 'em...

Somebody go get Fortitude and ask her what the number is, she knows.......

Bro-ham.....

I waited many a night, outside Thomas Reed's World Famous Chicken Coop.....:D:D

Also waited a fair amount of time at the slow-arse Wendys on US80, by the old Winn-Dixie in Tuskegee...... They were slow as molasses.

Oh yeah, I forgot! :lmao: You'll be happy (stunned) to know (or you probably already know) that Wendy's has long since gone out of business, one of the very few in a small town virtual monopoly market. In fact, that entire shopping center except for Dominoes and a few shops has gone under and grass is growing anywhere where dirt collects, this as of fall 2001. :shame:

Unfortunately, I am not surprised... That shopping center was in the process of 'dying' when I was there. But part of the demise had to do with it being so far from the campus. At least the McDonald's was in 'sight' after you made that right turn at the light. Even the Burger King was closer to campus......

But I wonder if they still have parties at the old Ford Dealership Building..... I know that the club on the Main Str (Geers) closed before I left . What about the Modulator!!!!!!
